Big J. Just looked at your classic video. I love that Iceco 60qt. 12V. Fridge! I purchased a 42qt. Joytutus 12V. Fridge 3 yrs. that's not keeping the food and drinks cool anymore. The lowest temperature I'm getting nowadays is 41 degrees while it's running. And the compressor doesn't cycle on and off like before. When I can get the money, I want definitely try Iceco's 60qt. Fridge with that COOL REVERSIBLE DIRECTIONAL LID! And 5 yrs. Warranty on the compressor! I love your video. Everything was explained perfectly! Looking forward for more of your videos on 12 volt fridge and freezer. I love them much more than a regular fridge and freezer. For my solar powered off grid set-up.

From multiple and consistent reports on the Iceco facebook site (comments and reviews) and on neighboring channels here (Atwood and Wandering Beast) the Iceco products, especially the dual compartment versions seem to fail repeatedly when subjected to actual use in hot temperatures (95+ F). Also, their CS seems to straining and inconsistent; but there does appear to be some effort made on that front. There are always problems here and there, but repeated and consistent reports of a specific problem, that is not a good sign. While I'm really attracted to their products' potential, I don't think I can afford to be part of their beta testing. Oh well.

"Eco-mode" would be a fully insulated wrap to add to the test article with a direct feed from a solar panel to the item to provide a constant 'keep cool' feature and some type of "ruggedized fabric" to use the insulator as a protective feature as well.

Thanks for the video showing this particular model. I bought an Alpicool that I have to return because the fridge side doesn’t work and was freezing everything. I had decided to buy an Iceco VL60 model for $749 with dual zone and dual lids. Because of your video showing new upgrades and with your discount code I instead ordered the 75qt dual lid and saved $120 off the $1000. Whew! That’s quite a bit more than the $400 I paid Alpicool. But I heard the Danfos is the best. Seems the only thing lacking here is a longer handle and wheels. Let’s hope it doesn’t take forever to get here.

I bought the iceco vl 45 pro and received it two days ago. It’s a nice clean looking powered cooler. It has a quiet compressor. Unfortunately, the iceco team didn’t put much time into the seal on the lid. It is a great concept how it opens but it does very little at retaining the cold air and keeping the warm air out. The compressor rarely turns off, and when it does, it quickly turns back on within a min or so. I was hoping for a high quality refrigerator, freezer, cooler that would function as well as it looked and as described in product description. Unfortunately, they need to reengineer the seal so it actually seals because power consumption is triple any of their other coolers that are not in the vl pro series. I contacted customer support via phone and left multiple voice messages and did not receive a response. I contacted the customer service email and received a response only in the early am hours(2:30a.m.), and their sentence structure was as if they were not American English and were from another country. They market their product as being based in California(American Made) 🇺🇸 when in reality this does not appear to be the case. Their response acknowledged they are aware these coolers have a design flaw but offer no resolution and request us as the customer to be patient while they work on a solution. Why would they list this for sale on their website if they are aware they designed the lid with a flaw in the ability to seal in cold air. They are reluctant to pay for return shipping and I will not be a return customer of Iceco mainly due to their poor customer service. I hope everyone that is considering the ICECO VL pro series to read my comment and think twice before purchasing one of these until they solve this problem.

My VLpro 60 lid clamps tight down. I can feel the rubber close tight as I shut the lid down. There isn't an issue with power draw being more than any other ICECO fridge I have used either. It performed right on par with my VL45 (same compressor). If there was an issue I would have showed that in my video and I woulnd't mislead my viewers. I don't doubt you have an issue with yours but it must be a manufacturing defect on your specific fridge because I haven't had issues with mine at all. I haven't heard of any other issues from other customers yet but maybe we will see more people reply on this comment. ICECO, Dometic and ARB fridges are all made in China. Apple iPhones are Chinese too. Theres no way to avoid it these days.There are many different build quality levels in china factories, I feel the quality of ICECO fridges is still way above Alipcool, Costway, and other "budget" fridge lines you can buy on Amazon. Sorry about your issues you are having, I can't say I know of a company that never has a few dud products, I hope they make it right for you.

I have the VL45, bought it a year ago. It has worked flawlessly for the past year bolted to the floor in my semi. I removed the front passenger seat, fits nicely. The only mod was to purchase the ARB 12 volt plug, as the ICECO plug would not stay put. And yes, I know I could hard wire it, but that ARB plug does the job. The unit has ran nonstop for over a year, and holds 38* without issue. I would recommend, and I would buy again. And I really like that new top, that would really come in handy in my rig due to the custom cabinet work I have in there which just blocks the lid from fully opening.
@Jasonoid

Thanks for sharing your experience, I also haven't had any issues with my ICECO fridges. It is important to note that most issues come from voltage drop in vehicle cabling so running off a portable battery is a bit more reliable. I doubt you have that issue in a semi truck haha

Jason, thanks for the time it takes to make these videos and the information shared. I'm just beginning to build out my van and I'm looking at what my options are. Are there any true fridge/freezer combos that are roughly 50/50? Freezers are often smaller in size... and for my needs that freezer section needs to be at least as large, if not larger, than the fridge. Thanks!
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 года назад
I have noticed that they tend to put the freezer on the side of the compressor (which takes up the storage space). I'll keep my eyes out for one with a 50/50 spread. I know the VLPro series will have larger models, 80qt and 90qt models. They might have a larger freezer. Another option would be to buy two smaller fridges (Two VL45's maybe, run one as a fridge and one as a freezer) but you'd have to prepare for at least 10 amp draw when both fridges are running and and much more battery storage as two fridges use more power than one.

@@Jasonoid yes I could make a video. But have no clue how to post it for you guys to see…. The lid clicks shut before the seal makes contact with the base. It’s possible the one I received is manufactured incorrectly but I can’t see any uneven spots. It just seems they didn’t engineer it to close quite enough to squeeze the seal. If I turn it down to freezing ice forms on top of cooler just outside of seal. I contacted customer support, or at least attempted to call their phone but it goes to voicemail no matter what time I call. Have you or anyone been able to get anyone on phone from ICECO? Just curious. I got a hold of customer service via email and they acknowledge it is an issue with the pro series. I have the email correspondence to prove it. I am not trying to be negative, but I figure others would want to know before spending that kind of money. I know I would want to know, Because I would have gotten a different model of Iceco.

Hey Jason. Have you compared the gasket on the vlpro vs the original VL series? The gasket of the VLPro is a thin vs VL series has beefy rubber gaskets. I ask cuz I’m getting a lot of condensation and ice formation outside of the gasket. Also the lid has a lot of play when latched. Moves up down and left right.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 года назад
Hey Sheen! My VLpro lid doesnt move much and I don't get condensation on the outside. I have seen on other person with a "moving lid" on their pro series. Reach out to ICECO support via email to let them know, they may be able to replace your lid. Yes the vl series is beefy rubber gasket, it doesn't get better than that seal in my opinion :) On my VLpro the lid has a drop in area on the lid that fits inside the fridge, kinda like a ledge. It seems durable.

Whats the power conumption between the two? I have a vl45 and getting a vl45 pro, but the lid worries me, and the lack of insulating cover. Would the new lid seal as well as the regular VL? The VL45 seems to have more rubber there then what you showed in your pic, and when you clamp the latches down, it seems to really pull it down and seal it up nicely.

For your Power tests for 70 and 85 Deg You show 56 hours and 21 hours respectively. Were those runtimes the total time until the battery pack was exhausted? Also what was your 12volt battery source (brand/model)? I assume the battery was charged to 100% at test start?

It would be very similar to the other VL series. The Jackery 1000 has 1000 watt hours of energy. This fridge pulled 356 watt hours of power during my 85 degree test. That test was 21 hours long. They are coming out the end of the month, they didn't give me a final price. Hoping it's not too much more than the standard VL series.

do you know what the in-rush current is when the compressor starts? I've been trying to find that, my other fridge has a pretty high in-rush current and was thinking about this but wanted to check.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 года назад
It's not too horrible, I haven't had any issues running these fridges on many power stations I have tested. All these power stations have a 12v 10amp socket and the fridge starts fine. What are you looking to run it with?
@t4rainier
@t4rainier 2 года назад
@@Jasonoid I have a EcoFlow delta 1300 and a jackery 500 and my EcoFlow has issues starting the fridge I have. My jackery has a higher voltage and amp than the EcoFlow so it doesn’t have issues. That’s why I want to know how high it can spike when the compressor starts.
@t4rainier
@t4rainier 2 года назад
I’m strictly talking 12v dc outlet. The EcoFlow delta 1300 is Car Power Output (x1) 108.8W, 13.6V DC, 8A max, so occasionally when the compressor goes over 108 at startup it throws errors.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 года назад
@@t4rainier Which fridge are you trying to start? A full size fridge? These small 12v fridges require MUCH less start up current.
@t4rainier
@t4rainier 2 года назад
@@Jasonoid it’s an aplicool t60 and the compressor for some reason can hit above 108 when it starts which is too high for the EcoFlow delta 1300 12v outlet. Then it resets the 12v port on the ecoflow. I guess what I’m trying to find out is if the ecoflow delta 1300s 108.8 max watts on the 12v port is enough for that iceco vl60pro.

Really struggling to pick between iceco vl60 pro and the setpower tc75. One is lighter larger and cheaper and dual zone if i want but the other looks better more likely too only use as a fridge maybe more efficient and longer warranty but also more expensive. I change my mind daily
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Год назад
I really don't use my dual zone fridges much, I just don't need frozen stuff while camping or on road trips. Single zone fridges are more efficient. I'd probably lean to the VL60pro, love that beast!

Hey I saw your video and purchased the VL pro model … I’m used to tighter fitting lids I found the lid to be loose when it’s supposed to be closed it’s not a right fit … without unlocking their is play in the mechanism. You have tested other fridge what’s your thoughts on how the lid fits? I’m thinking of returning it… a loose lid has to comprise the efficiency do you think? Is it as efficient as the original model you recommend is the past?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 года назад
I just confirmed with my VL60 pro, there isn't any play at all. When I push the lid down its super tight, doesn't wiggle at all, I don't see anyway air can get out on mine, it also tested to be just as efficient as the regular VL series. Have you reached out to ICECO at all?

@@Jasonoid I will ASAP maybe they can send out another lid. I can move it slightly up and down without unlatching it. How are they to deal with? The ridge that the seal makes contact with is about 1/32 high… seriously!

Love Canyonlands! I am just about to pull the trigger on an Iceco and was going to get the 3 in 1, but now you have me second guessing the model I should get. I also don’t see this VL Pro on their website. Do you know the cost? Availability? Which model would you choose if they were the same size?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 3 года назад
Lu from ICECO said these should be available soon. Just waiting for the final number to arrive at their California warehouse. Pricing shouldn't be too much more than the regular VL series.... Hoping it's not much more expensive but I will update the video description when they are available on ICECOFreezer.com I'd recommend the VLPro if you can afford it. The lid and power ports make it worth it. USB ports are nice. The 60 Liter is a great size, it's just a little bigger than the 45, but not so huge that it doesn't need a truck bed to fit it. I think 60 is my favorite size for my small family of 4.

How would you compare this to the VL 60D?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 года назад
They would be almost the same in food capacity 60qts, but the VL60 Dual will take up a larger footprint and power consumption due to having two zones. Having a side set to "freezer" will always use about double the power than having it set to "fridge" temps. I personally like the older style VL series fridges because of the value and simplicity. With the older VL series you still get an awesome fridge and compressor that's durable and efficient but for less money. If you want the features of the VL Pro line then you gotta put out the extra cash for it. Does that help?

These are getting to be like generators. A couple companies did all the research and built a reputation (Honda/Yamaha/etc) then China came along stole the design and mass produced them under a million different names and at a million different prices. Generator companies are doing the same crap we see with these fridges with “we have a so and so engine” like this compressor nonsense. It might have the same compressor but it’s not the same. It might be a fine product I don’t know because we don’t have decades of user experience to go on. We also see this with diesel fired heaters. Sure a Chinese one is cheaper, but in the long run you’ll end up buying a Webasto or Espar because it will last a decade or more. You really do get what you pay for whether it be a heater, a generator or a fridge and you’re supporting research and R&D vs ripping someone else off. Or communism. Or muslim genocide. Or human rights violations. All taking place in communist China. It’s funny today people worry about their carbon footprint and all this nonsense but don’t care where a product is made or what their money is supporting. I am sure North Korea could build things even cheaper. How many of you would buy one? Sadly I bet a lot of you would.
