If this is how you like your coffee then you kinda do. Stovetop espresso makers boil the water which is too hot for a good extraction. At the end of the day it's s all up to your taste and preferences but this is the general consensus
Take three to four tablespoons or teaspoons of coffee ground coffee that is. Put it in the bottom of a glass cup or coffee mug one that won't shatter..... With hot water. Put clean water on the stove. Spring water is best but you can use tap if need. As soon as the water begins to boil turn it off. Go to your coffee cup and pour the hot water 12 to 14 in above the cup be sure not to spill it on you and stand away. And you have to pour it kind of quick. After a few tries you'll be perfect at it.. do not stir the coffee or anything let it sit between 4 - 5 minutes. Go back to your coffee cup the grinds will be at the top remove them carefully with a spoon. Taste your coffee. If it's too strong to simply add a little bit more water or maybe next time use less coffee. I learned this when I was overseas. You don't have to have expensive equipment. Besides that some of this equipment has metal and it's not good. It also can reduce the taste of your coffee. Good luck.
allow me to be that guy for a moment but _technically_ speaking when you pour the espresso on top of the water, it's actually a long black. Americano is espresso first, then water on top.
