@@TheHeavymetalthunder Yeah they were never underground in Florida at all. Everyone In Tampa Absolutely loved them and everyone living on the other coast wanted to one day see Tampa Because of them. Yeah, if you came from there, you always knew about these guys and just loved them. They Came along shortly after the Death craze and they killed it in every way. But it wasnt bad at all. Iced Earth Show up towards the end of that era with an Excellent message and they just killed it. They replaced the Previous music scene in Tampa, 100%.
Those are the type of bands I have a strong amount of love & respect for. Bands that stay true to themselves by focusing on writing good music & refusing to sell out to the mainstream.
I remember picking up Burnt Offerings back in a music store in 1996 because I liked the artwork and song titles. One of the best surprises I'd ever heard. I still don't think they've topped that album, but damn if they aren't consistent.
Schaffer is right there with James and Mustaine as the best rythm guitarrist. And Iced Earth is the cross between MetallicA+ MegadetH+ Iron Maiden. A great underrated band.
James Hetfield was drowning in Alcohol and other things and so was Mustaine. The things that make Jon and Iced Earth so great is that he never was and nobody else was either. Jon never got into any of that shit and always was against it and his only biggest mistake in life is that he had the guts to go to Washinton Dc and protest Biden, because it was never in his own interest to do that, at all. Its only cost him in ways i cannot even count.
@@JD-vj4go He didn't have a choice. Either he pleads guilty or he pleads not guilty and the case lengthens which would have destroyed him financially. Either way, the left win.
Holy shit, time flies. It feels like just yesterday this was the "new" Iced Earth album and its been 7 years since. Dystopia holds up rather well in their catalogue, I must say.
Iced Earth never disappoints best part about them is that Jon Schaffer keeps you guessing who gives a shit what kind of metal they play. METAL is METAL
Enter the nightmare This future does implore A techno city-state A prison, nothing more Rounded up like cattle You're forced into the trains Nothing that you've ever known Will bring you so much pain [Pre-chorus] If you try to resist me You'll find me inhumane But if you just submit You'll live your life a slave You'll love your servitude We'll medicate your pain With our technology We'll always keep you safe Micro-chipped like dogs Their thoughts are not their own All that's left of human kind Is now in their control Planned out through centuries Patient and contrived Played on man's naiveté Gullible and blind [Pre-chorus] If you try to resist me You'll find me inhumane But if you just submit You'll live your life a slave You'll love your servitude We'll medicate your pain With our technology We'll always keep you safe [Chorus] The nightmare unfolds before my eyes I will resist 'til end of time A spirit born free Has to break these chains We're lost, we must find our way We'll find our way! They say that you're a danger To everything that's pure There are too many of you They're offering the cure Swift extermination If you refuse the game Arrested development Your vaccinated fate [Pre-chorus] If you try to resist me You'll find me inhumane But if you just submit You'll live your life a slave You'll love your servitude We'll medicate your pain With our technology We'll always keep you safe [Chorus] The nightmare unfolds before my eyes I will resist 'til end of time A spirit born free Has to break these chains We're lost, we must find our way We'll find our way!
Godzilla82000 it's crazy I met this kid at my school and it turns out his dad is Jon Shaffer. I about shit my pants but it turns out that Jon was born in my town so it makes sense, I didn't say much to him cause I didn't want to seem like I was kissing his ass because of his dad.
Ahhh, that chorus is so metal, "The nightmare unfolds before my eyes, I will resist till the end of time!" and the part after, ahhh could listen to it all day!
First thing I noticed---what a phenomenal sounding album---no clicky, fake sounding triggered drums, great separation of instruments and vocals. Whoever produced/engineered this did one heckuva job.
@renee ruth Whatever may be your problem may be I feel with you. To be honest at much as I like iced earth my personal crutch is known as Nightwish with IE as a mod dependent support but bad times are plenty. By own problem is testicle cancer and marriage problems with a small dose of corona induced surroundings. Good music gives me a great help living through emotions and keeping morale up. Obviously loves dealt you some lemons too. "they" say to make lemonade but there are other productive ways to deal with that shit. Slice them and stick them on some grilled salmon... Squish em and down them in a drink once in a while. However you want to please make the best of the times you have. Make the best of the cards fate dealt to you. You may be in a bad spot at the moment but I'm sure better times are to come. I had surgery and chemotherapy a short while ago. That sucked royally. Now I'm on rehab and met some great people. They were friends for the last 5 weeks and may become permanent parts of my life (at least some). Good things can come from unexpected directions. It's up to you to catch them...
@@MrSlantwise you are naive if you think that these big government monsters give a damn about you. They're supposed to be public servants and nothing more; they weren't meant to trample your civil liberties. Grow a pair.
This lineup fucking killed it live. Stu nailed all of the material no matter what era they played. I'd always loved his work with Into Eternity, but the way he's maturing as a vocalist in Iced Earth is just insane.
Ive seen 3 generations of Iced Earth Live, and all were fucking outta this world, but theres something about what Stu brings to the band that just elevated it beyond anything I thought possible. One of those bands that sounds 100x better live than on album. Thats so rare these days, and im so grateful to have seen these guys so many times live
In one hand, we have people that understand John Schaffer: he believes in freedom, in the indivuals. In the other, we have those blue hair, social media addicts, cowards and snowflakes. I don't believe in imaginary boundaries, defined by greed monarchs who used to think they have the right to command people lives, imaginary lines to keep the cattle feeding them, so I don't necessarily agreed with everything John believes, but at least, the guy it's not a coward, warrior of keyboard...! Hope Iced Earth can have a comeback, this band is simply too amazing to be vanished. Best albuns for me: Something Wicked, Horror Show, The Glorious Burden. Absolute classics.
You do know Schaffer made a new album that gets the old songs of the band and completely butchers to the point it makes fucking St anger look like Master of puppets
Found these guys by mistake while typing in words in the google search bar to see if they looked good for a band name haha. One of the best mistakes ive made in a long time! GREAT BAND \m/
I found them years ago when they were touring with Into Eternity (ironically, the singer here was singing for Into Eternity at that time). I know its not the most popular opinion, but I prefer Stu (singer here) and Tim "Ripper" Owens more so than original singer Matt Barlow. But still a great find.
Cody W As someone that adores Barlowe I have to say that I think Stu has so much personality and range with his vocals. His signature highs that were so iconic when he was with Into Eternity work so well for hammering home a chorus, and his lows hit even harder than Matt's, with a few exceptions. I live for the day I can see Stu tear through The Coming Curse :D
@@dr.whisper5785 A "trader" is a merchant; a "traitor" is someone who tries to overthrow our democratic principles, like the traitorous asshole playing guitar for this hang of misfits. Fuck Individual One and fuck this dickweed.
Thrashmetal6666 Are you sure they are in standard E? I've never bothered to learn any of the newer stuff yet (Dystopia and POB) but a lot of the IE songs I have learned were in Eb standard.
I think Stu is a perfect match for iced earth, shaffer knows how to find such amazing vocalists. Barlow and ripper are amazing but if you listen carefully. Stu is a perfect blend of both matt and ripper!. I'm so blown away
Jon, I’m apologizing on behalf of everyone that never believed you. Your whole career has been standing up for what you believe in and making music about it. I hope Iced Earth will come back...we need you now more than ever. Power to you Jon AND Brent. True champions of Liberty!
Jon did nothing wrong and only proved his authenticity. He filters metal frauds like no one else ever has. I've never seen so many bootlickers reveal themselves in this scene so quickly.
Facts. I'm glad you mentioned Brent as well. He was the only one in the band at the time who didn't say a word about his REAL Metal brother to the media. Fk the media and especially the metal media.
After being a fan for a long time, I have to say that Dystopia is a real grower. It's the most solid set of songs they've done, a great album I've found myself not even close to tiring of. Killer
Man i remember my first Iced Earth album, no one told me about this band, i just walked into, Specs music store and got it. It blew my mind, i'm a fan since then.
How true. I first learnt of this band, when I walked into the heavy metal music store in my city and they were playing on the loud speaker. I asked the young goth chic what band is that playing on the speaker? She told me it was Iced Earth, so I bought the DVD. The rest is history. This was in 94
Too bad Jon succumbed to radical conspiracy theories and insurrection. IE was such a great band (all eras). But he’s a criminal and traitor and justice / punishment awaits. He pissed on the nation and the flag. No mercy, no quarter.
One thing I love about Stu Bloc is his humility. You can shower him all day long with praise, and all he does is show the utmost gratitude. I saw him while he was with Into Eternity and then with Iced Earth. Both times I got to talk to him after the show, and he's just an awesome person.
When I saw these guys live, the moshpit completely exploded when they opened with this. One of the best and wildest nights I've ever had! Love this band \m/
I saw these guys last night playing in Baltimore; even though I've listened to bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden for ages I've never even heard a song from these guys. They were amazing. Definitely have a new fan.
The Iced Earth is one of the best band... I wanna to see them in my city- Belgrade! Greetings from Belgrade, Serbia to all Iced Earth fans! Keep fighting for metal :)
"A spirit born free has to break these chains." Heartfelt thoughts and prayers out to Jon. Whether the Capitol raid was actually spontaneous or a police-enabled trap, this guy was there with the best convictions, standing against the hammer that was about to fall on all of us. He deserves all of our respect.
You're Pathetic. Best intentions? Standing up for us? You're brainwashed did you watch the attack? Trump ordered the attack because no one would lie about proof of voter fraud
I think Stu Block if the best replacement for Matt Barlow. I love both singers. I think one day they should do a duet song for one Iced Earth song. But I doubt that will happen.
Damn such a great video, Iced Earth has to be the most underrated band of all time, Jon, Brent and the boys have been thru so much clawing scratching killing themselves to get to where they are!!!! I will always be a loyal fan supporting them, Dystopia i was nervous new singer again, but WOW Stu did a amazing job and jon has never sounded better!!!!!
I've seen Iced Earth in Denver 5 times. When I saw the new singer I was like, hmmm, might be a lul in the action. But, man, they continue to absolutely dominate. The melodies, the lyrics... Def one of the best metal bands in our history. Rock on brothers and sisters!
@@alexfox4904 he talked about lying and saying he wasn't invoved in the trump ordered riot?he said he wanted to kill politicians that he didn't agree with?he said I support dividing the country so nobody will get along? Nah, I won't listen to it, cause its just praising war and conflict to divide our country. I don't agree with his beliefs especially of using violence if you don't get what you want
@@alexfox4904 Dude, you're so adorable. Of course it's all the fault of one side who is completely evil and trying to destroy america while your side is virtuous and just. Did you ever make it past the third grade?
He's got the lows of Barlow and he can hit the highs the Ripper was hitting. He's like the perfect replacement for Matt in my opinion. While Barlow will always be my favorite vocalist for Iced Earth, Stu Block measures up just as well. I can't wait to see what kind of material will be made in the coming years. This guy has a lot of potential! :D
