Do you still use this recipe? I think with ratio of 1:10 on hot water might be better. 15g coffee:150g hotwater:100g ice. I have to try yours!

The ice just melts too fast. Is that because i use small ice cubes or is the water too hot?

Great video! How fine is the grind? Medium-fine or medium-coarse?
@TheBasicBarista
@TheBasicBarista 3 года назад
Hey Yousif, I used 22 clicks on the Comandante but I also used the Cafec filters that helped slow down the brew a bit, I recommend starting at a medium grind size and then push towards finer. Especially as you have less water to brew with I found it tastes better with a finer grind rather then more corse. Good luck and always adjust by how it tastes :) Thanks for watching my video!

Why the spritz of water, won't that rust your burr or w.e over time
@TheBasicBarista
@TheBasicBarista 2 года назад
Hey Harley, Thanks for watching and cheers for your comment. The spritz of water adds a tiny amount of moisture to your beans, when you grind coffee the moisture drastically reduces your grinders static retention. This method is called RDT and it will no rust Comandante burrs or add any more wear that grinding with out RDT would cause. This is the best I could answer your question but if you are interested check out the video I linked below, James Hoffman talks a bit more about this method. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T0Dh1W40ILY.html Hope this helps! Cheers

@TheBasicBarista
@TheBasicBarista 17 дней назад
hmm I'm not sure how this is possible as the ice melts over time slowly diluting the coffee ... I think your brew may have broken physics. Jokes aside, try grinding a little finer to increase the water - coffee contact time.

@TheBasicBarista 3 года назад
Hey mate, thanks for watching my video! I did 22 clicks on the Comandante for this coffee but please keep in mind that the first thing I change when dialling in a new coffee is the grind size so what tastes good for me might be different for you with the coffee you use. Hope this helps ☺️

Why do you swall your V60 as you are making it
@TheBasicBarista
@TheBasicBarista Год назад
Thanks for watching! I find it helps to remove the grinds stuck on the wall of the V60 and bring them back down to the bed of coffee. I do this for most of the coffees I brew with however I find it isn't a good idea to do this with coffees that are prone to choking. Hope this helps ❤️ Happy brewing

Why is it sour tasting
@TheBasicBarista
@TheBasicBarista 7 месяцев назад
If your flash-brewed coffee tastes sour, it's often an indication of under-extraction, which means that not enough of the coffee's flavours have been extracted during brewing. To fix this issue and achieve a more balanced and less sour cup of coffee, you can follow these steps: Adjust the Grind Size: Start by adjusting the grind size of your coffee beans. A finer grind will increase the surface area of the coffee grounds, allowing for more extraction. Try making the grind slightly finer and see if it improves the taste. Increase Brew Time: A flash brew is typically a quick brewing method. If your coffee is too sour, try extending the brew time slightly. Experiment with small increments of time until you find the right balance. Use Hotter Water: Ensure that the water you're using is at the right temperature, usually between 195°F to 205°F (90°C to 96°C). If the water is too cool, it can result in under-extraction and a sour taste. Adjust Coffee-to-Water Ratio: Consider changing the ratio of coffee to water. Using more coffee grounds or less water can help increase extraction. Start with a small adjustment and see how it impacts the flavour. Stir or Agitate: During the brewing process, make sure to stir or agitate the coffee grounds gently to ensure even extraction. This can help distribute the water more evenly and improve flavour consistency. Quality of Coffee Beans: Ensure you're using freshly roasted and high-quality coffee beans. Old or low-quality beans can contribute to off-flavours, including sourness. Experiment: Flash brewing is a precise method, and achieving the perfect balance may require some experimentation. Keep adjusting the variables mentioned above until you find the flavour profile that suits your taste. Remember to take notes during your experiments so you can replicate the successful adjustments in the future. It's all about finding the right combination of factors to achieve the desired flavour in your flash-brewed coffee. I hope this helps!

Do not swirl, I repeat do not swirl, especially at blooming phase.
@TheBasicBarista
@TheBasicBarista 3 месяца назад
Haha I guess we just have a different approach to brewing :) I am curious as to why you don't swirl? Is this because of the fines migration? or Increased agitation?
@ahmadalqurashi3606
@ahmadalqurashi3606 3 месяца назад
@@TheBasicBarista so my goal is to let the beans breathe when blooming and let it release its gases so that the coffee notes and taste can be more intense and less biter, so swirling at blooming stage wouldn’t be the best, also, water temp plays crucial part in bitterness, the more water temp the more bitter the coffee will be, so the best temp for me is between 85c to 90c. I’m saying that because it’s been 2 years now drinking iced V60 coffee daily. At the end, it’s all preferences so yall keep experimenting and reach your best coffee for you ♥️👍
