I got one of these for a whippet and it is amazing. She runs full tilt when she sees a rabbit. We see 2 or 3 rabbits a walk. With this vest and a bungie leash I have no worries at all about her hurting her long pretty neck. She has a tight stomach and huge chest, like a mini greyhound. Being able to have the straps individually tightened is the best thing about this harness for me.

I'm still having good luck with this vest. Protection our pups is essential especially when they go into hunt mode. As I mentioned, watch it in the heat. It doesn't breathe well. Ruffwear has product that I use and not only protects but is a cooler too in the hot months. Thanks for watching our little channel.

I'm glad that I can help. For summer time I switch to the Ruffwear swap cooler jacket and another Ruffwear vest that has what they call the core cooler attachment. The cooler covers the underbelly but you have to buy the nylon top that fits it. Being in the SW desert it's a great summer time choice that makes a big difference for the pups tolerance of the heat. Especially when you have a black dog. The thing about it is carrying extra water to maintain the cooling effects. Thanks for watching our little channel.

I use a Ruffwear Web Master harness with a Core Cooler attachment for the warmer weather. The Icefang harness gets put away during the summer.

I just pulled the trigger on a tac-vest for my monster puppy... found one that has mesh panels at the top of the vest... looked good, but I choose a model with 100% metal hardware. Cane Corsos are not easy on equipment... well anything really.
@traildogadventures6512
@traildogadventures6512 Год назад
Dog vests aren't an easy purchase considering that most are online. I currently have 3. The tac vest is not for summer in the Mojave. The others are cooling vests. One full and the other is just the lower body core. Too much pup gear.🤣 Thanks for watching.

I got the same one for my German/Aussie Sheppard Mix. I like it a lot and agree with everything you said. I wish the clips on the sides were metal. I'm worried those are going to break at some point. Should be an ez fix. The description said the buckles were metal but it meant just the front ones... Why not do the back ones too? I haven't cut mine to length yet because I thought I was going crazy. I thought you'd need even lengths on each side but nope. Anyway I'm happy with it still. It feels super durable other than the plastic buckles. 4.5/5 stars
@traildogadventures6512
@traildogadventures6512 2 года назад
The clips are the big issue for me to. I like the metal ones but there's 7 different adjustment points which can get frustrating to balance when the material isn't symmetrical. My puppy is filling out now so readjusting all the straps is something I'm not looking forward to doing again. But I still like the harness overall too.

I have a pitsky around 40-50 pounds rn at 7 months. The medium should be fine right? Gotta get him one of these because i have a trolly system outside but every harness i get he literally finds a way out of them or if he cant he literally chews them off by the straps so i need something hella sturdy like this for him
@traildogadventures6512
@traildogadventures6512 Год назад
Sorry about the delayed response. If you keep this harness comfortably snug he might not be able to chew on it or escape. Maybe get one of those sprays with the bitter taste for the chewing. Size wise it's always difficult ordering a harness online with hopes that it will fit your pup. Especially when they're still growing. My recommendation would be to wait till the growth stage is over and then make the decision on a final product. If it's a now thing maybe get a low cost harness for now. It depends on the breed and how the pup fills out in their adolescents. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching our little channel.

You were so helpful! After much research I decided on the 2 buckle vest/harness as a no pull harness for a field line Labrador who I saved 2 years ago. A story...he doesn't belong in a NYC apt. building. I evaluated him for detection work & he scored very high...a week & a half later COVID lock down. He is on Rescues2therescue website Jaak. I got a warning letter from the COOP complaints...he is very vocal & loud & can try to jump up. I need to adjust the fit & came to the same conclusion this was not good on the very hot day he first wore it. So I have to adjust it plus find a strong no pull harness like this with handle for hot weather. Any suggestions? And I am a senior. Anita

Check out my other product review video on the Ruffwear harness and the Core Cooler attachment. Both are sold separately but you have to buy the correct harness for the core cooler to attach. The core cooler works by evaporative cooling. Just put it in water and put the harness on. Afterwards just monitor the cooler and keep it moist. Not dripping. I like the product for the summer heat and always keep it with us for when it's needed. I think this is what you are looking for. Let me know if you have any other questions. Tell the pup we said HI.😀

Very good dog you have there. Well behaved and well trained. Very good job sir. Does he have any chafing issues under his front arms?
@traildogadventures6512
@traildogadventures6512 2 года назад
Thanks. He just turned 2yrs and has good and bad moments. Bad usually involves a critter popping up. 😀 No chafing. It's totally adjustable so the harness doesn't even contact that area. He's actually wearing it right now out on a Mojave campout.

Sorry about the delayed response. I'm dealing with this pup issue currently. He's a hunter that has his ears turn off to my commands when he's after critters. He had a lot of issues when I got him and it's been some time but we're getting close to off-leash again hopefully. Honestly, I don't think he really cares. He just like doing things with me which I'm ok with too. Try a large unoccupied dog park if available and work on his return training. That's what we have been doing when possible. I use the GPS collar as a safety net to relocate my pup. The problem with this device is that it's point to point. New tech my provide better overall tracking vs this unit these days.

@traildogadventures6512
@traildogadventures6512 2 года назад
My dogs vest is a medium size. He's roughly 55- 58 pounds. At its current set up there's still roughly about 2+ inches of strap available for size adjustments. That extra length is per buckle.

@traildogadventures6512

My pup was about 10 months when I got his vest. Fortunately he was at the smaller end of the sizing so I knew he had room for growth. He's almost 2 now and is starting to fill out into his adult body. It's looking like I'll still have extra strap to tuck away. It's a good vest but a lot of straps to size and balance. Be careful of overheating on hot days.

@@traildogadventures6512So informative, was looking for this response too wondering it you’ve had any escapes in this harness before I buy. Have you had any other issues of escaping in this one since then?
@traildogadventures6512
@traildogadventures6512 2 месяца назад
@kai9129 if you keep the harness adjusted properly I don't see an issue with slippage. The lower harness comes down from the neck and between the front legs, connects to clips from the top on the main chest area and then clips to the top again where the rib cage ends. I've never had him slip out since he has become full sized. We've had this harness for quite a while now and it's still holding together. Just a little discolored from years of use but still looks cool.

It's in the gear in the jeep. I wanna say it's a large. He was on the bottom of the sizing chart for its size when I got it knowing he would grow being just under a year old when I purchased it. I've had to adjust it larger 2-3 times a bit in the past year and still works great with plenty of extra adjustments available.

I was mistaken. I just saw that he wears a medium. He's about 60 pounds and in the lower medium sizing.
