From Orkney here - we’re closer than you think lol. We loved watching Valur and Polly on the Reykjavik grapevine before the place lost its collective mind with its new owners and Valur was clearly forced out - either he cowtowed to the new owners political directive, or he went. He chose his own integrity and value of truth about his country, and left. It was heartbreaking, because we’d really come to look forward to his regular reports. His mix of humour and news and throwing the ball for Polly was addictive. We’ve so missed it. You’re heading in the right direction… We liked your style and getting the news from Iceland again. It was nice and we’ll stick around. If you could just sprinkle in a bit of humour too, loosen up a little bit and let your personality come through bit, that’d be great…but these things take time and we’re sure you’ll do just great. Also, maybe add in some info about the place you’re walking in as that would be lovely too. And maybe bring your dog along 🐕 🤣 . Not much to ask lol - sorry, just being honest! It’s a lovely format and it’s so nice to see it again. We’ve missed it so much. Well done 👍

Thank you, again, for the news. I am impressed that all these news are delivered without visible notes. And some of them are long news, with lots of names and offices. Well done. 👏👏👏

It is pretty impressive you memorized the news! I enjoyed the informal walk and talk format. It’s immersive, like a mini-Icelandic vacation. 😊

I very much enjoy this video format and style of reporting on Iceland Review. It is very welcome since Valur Gretisson’s ‘walkabout’ news updates and features no longer happen, nor with his colleagues, on Reykjavik Grapevine

The artists salaries are being raised to from 1600 to 2000 ISK per month. That cant be right.

Canadian here. We have native frogs right up to the edge of the tundra. Most of southern Canada has much colder winters than coastal Iceland and frogs hibernate in mud under ponds deep enough not to freeze to the bottom. In the far north, where there is permafrost, there's a species of frog that hibernates in leaf litter by raising its blood sugar to an astonishing level to act as anti-freeze. This lets it get active early enough to breed and have its young develop far enough to hibernate like their parents before freeze-up. I suspect that there are no natural predators of frogs in Iceland, although your foxes might eat them. Frogs mainly eat insects. This sounds like a good thing, but some of your native animals may depend on insects and could be outcompeted by frogs. I hope your biologists are investigating the implications and will act before you have a literal plague of frogs. Btw, some of our frogs breed in vernal pools, i.e. large puddles that form from snow melt and dry up within a few weeks, so permanent ponds aren't needed by these animals.

I'd be pissed if I knew my tax dollars go to people who think they are "artists"
