Ichigo's journey is an internal one, we don't often see this in anime, and I really like it.

Ichigo was born transcendent, he just needed to find himself and unlock his powers

Sometimes Ichigo's power-ups aren't exactly the type you can train for, but between prior training and actual combat experience, he can at least enable them to happen if direct control over them isn't an option. Bankai, Hollow mask, Final Getsuga, and Fullbring were all power-ups he trained for, but most of his Hollow forms and some of the Quincy techniques were White or Old Man's doing in order to protect him. The former are absolutely earned, but the latter are as well, fighting and overcoming powerful opponents increased his power and enabled them to happen the way they did. And vice versa can be said as well, Ichigo may never have achieved Final Getsuga if Vasto Lorde never happened, and he may have never considered Vizard training if White never interfered with his fight against Byakuya.

Man, sometimes it feels like Ichigo is just trying to survive his powers 😅

It's great that Ichigo uses his powers to save, it's also ironic that they very nearly resulted in his being reduced to a puppet forever harvested of said power by the same people he was trying to save. Sure many where reluctant but the fact that we where that close is terrifying. It's good that he got the happy ending, the other is too nightmarish to contemplate.

I really like how Ichigo's powers grow as he learns and accepts all of the different parts of himself. It makes him the best example of how within Bleach, understanding and embracing who you are, is the key to becoming the best version of yourself that you can be. A great video as always!

Literally every arc pushes Ichigo closer to discovering who he is. Each arc focusing on a different aspect of who he is, so for people to say he never worked for it clearly stopped after the soul society arc.

People who think Ichigo didn't work for his power ups is crazy...They just see memes or just hear random shit. Each arc explains why 😂

The only power-up we got that wasn't truly explained, is his true Bankai. For Ywach to break it in fear and respect of its power, that fact alone speaks volumes... We never got to see what it could do, and how it differed from his formerly known false bankai with all of his power and abilities now unlocked. I hope Kubo explains it one day...

I’m so glad you did this video. I never believed that all of Ichigo’s power up were asspulls not even once. I think Kubo does a good job explaining his power up throughout the story.

It's just a showing that people weren't paying attention to the explanations given in the series, so they hate on it and say his transformations are asspulls. It's pathetic really.

Its not like Ichigo didnt almost turn into a hollow, get chopped to bits by Urahara, get thrashed around by Old man zangetsu learning Bankai, fight for his literal soul against his hollow self (even if it was some warped sense of protection), fighting his two inner zanpaktou spirits at once for god knows how long to understand their feelings, and put through the RINGER to get his lost powers back from strangers he didnt even know to be betrayed and nearly have his spirit broken. No noooo Ichigo went through NO ADVERSITY and effort AT ALL for his powers >_> no no......

The thing with Ichigo is that his powers are justified in retrospective. It's not until EbtR that we learn why he is so powerful and that he was from the very beginning. During his power up moments he has massive boosts of power that let him win fights he may be losing, we later learn that he was always strong, but at those moments It looked like he got stronger thanks to plot armor. the is that Ichigo doesn't train to get stronger but to be able to control his full power as how useful could a sea of power be if you can only use droplets of it?

Vasto Lorde ichigo compiles Hollow and Shnnigami powers to a peak. Dangai form compiles Shinigami and Quincy Powers (which is why Ichigo has no mask or spiritual pressure). Final Getsuga Tenshō compiles Quincy and Hollow powers to a peak (whch is why he takes on blue [Quincy] and black [hollow] aesthetic). The final attack itself reflects upon cero with Quincy enhancement. Quincy takes reiatsu from the environment. Ichigo just used his own reaitsu all at once. He needed recovery time just like Ishida

Somthing ive never noticed till my last read of the series is how ichigo changes narativly through the series. Ive always disliked the idea that ichigo is somehow passive in his story, but i think the critisism got me to notice how he swaps from passive to active through the story. Whenever old man zangetsu is in control ichigo is passive, he stays away from conflict and trys to resolve situations without violence. When white is in charge hes active, trying to save rukia/orihime, seeking battle, looking to grow. The storys narative changes based on which one is in control!

I mean if Kubo is going to give Yhwach more abilities in the rewrite of the TYBW then I believe that Ichigo will most definitely get more techniques with his new found powers.Hell he might even use finally use more of his own Quincy abilities

The people who didn't pay any attention to bleach are probably the same people who think dragon ball super is good when GT is better. I love what Kubo did with ichigo's growth and character development which gives me inspirationas as a character concept artist especially when im currently working on my own manga

Personality now that I know about what and who Ichigo is I see all of his power ups and forms as a strange form of puberty for Ichigo species

People always like to downplay Ichigo when it comes to him, Naruto, Luffy and Goku. Luffy is the son of one of the strongest people. He's the grandson of one of the strongest people. His role model is one of the strongest people. His devil fruit isn't a lame one like was was originally thought either, it's that of an actual god of some sort. And yes to some extent, power and potential is hereditary in One Piece. Naruto is the son of one of the strongest people. He's the son of a member of a clan with insane levels of chakra. He had half of the total power of the strongest, by far, tailed beast sealed inside of him. Even that half is stronger than the other eight combined. Yes his chakra was messed with and he couldn't access it efficiently but since he was the son of his mother and father, he was able to easily overcome that before fixing the problem. Then he literally had a near double booster handed to him when his father game him the rest of Kurama's power. Power and potential is hereditary in Naruto. Goku had a wish made by his father to get him to adulthood. So you can say he's the son of a low level with a dinky power level at birth all you want because Super ruined that. It was all a wish that kept him going all that time. Power and potential is hereditary in Dragon Ball. Even though Bardock was also low level, he had great potential which he passed on to Goku at least, if not Raditz. Oh and yeah, zenkais. Sure they all trained their asses off but so did Ichigo. It's not like it's even more blatant with him being born into everything either as it's more obvious or even more heavily pushed with others. But they all trained. They all had obstacles to overcome. They all worked to near death to get stronger. Some of them even did die at least once. In fact, I think they have all died at least once. Ichigo against Ulquiorra. Luffy against Kaido. Naruto against someone. Goku against Raditz via Piccolo, by Cell willingly, by Hit willingly and possibly even against Jiren. People also don't like to give Kubo credit when it comes to his foreshadowing everything too. People literally be going over every panel of One Piece with a magnifying lense trying to find every reference to anything even if it's coincidental then be like, Oda is a genius since he left this one "clue" in the bottom left corner of this insignificant 4th panel on page 8 of chapter 236 and it's finally paid off in chapter 1021. Not saying that Oda doesn't leave clues like that as he does, just saying that most are just coincidence. Yet these same people outright ignore the actual clues Kubo leaves in Bleach that were legitimately paid off later on and call malarkey.

I learn to like ichigo lot more after the thousand year blood war arc came out, and I learned more about his history. He’s seriously one powerful dude. And his palace drip with dual swords clean

The way i see it, full potential Ichigo is really just the Soul King.

Basically with ichigo if he truly knew what or who he was from the start either he would have been busted right away or it may have created a further internal struggle that wouldn’t have allowed him to develop into what he is today.

I think ichigo's power ups come out of nowhere if you look at it from a surface level, after learning his heritage I think it's easier to understand where his powerups come from

Bro we did not get enough of true Shiki Ichigo during the second invasion and the final act. And they were plenty of moments to show off what he can do but Kubo kept sidelining him, in favor of other battles that didn’t go anywhere and side characters that got way more screen time then they deserved.

I learned that there is not really a right way of writing. What is perceived as the right way is actually just what people like at that point in time. Whether your main's power earn or given, both can be a good story if you can make it interesting.

I think his powerups were fine. I have no issue in which they were portrayed. Usually, it's after a defete, he is taught and learns a new power up, or one is revealed, like Hollow Ichigo. I do love the fact that it was a journey and he did not go from just learning to max power. That was some of the best parts for me. I can't wait to see the anime of this.

The question you ask at the end is a flawed boolean. Do I think Ichigo earns his power up? Yes and no. It was a bit of a retcon, even if it happened halfway through the story and not at the end. Also the idea of Ichigo being all types of powerful beings in existence is kinda cheesy. He does struggle, but his rise to power is quite quick and not fleshed out enough as his actual battles are quite far apart and infrequent. Too much time is wasted on minor characters that don't contribute much towards the overall story and feel more like filler, especially since they never get satisfying arcs (Chad, Inoue, Uryu, all of his classmates, Urahara's kids, a lot of the Gotei 13.) The main issue though, is Kubo doesn't explain Ichigo's powers well enough. Despite that, all of his power ups are just different flavors of getsuga tenshou. It's legit his only move. Aside from just slashing his sword and mobility. I just feel like Kubo is an excellent character designer, talented artist and he has style for sure. But his character building and story arcs are subpar. He peaked in the soul society arc and never really recovered, aside from the end of the arrancar arc. It's a shame, really. He should work with actually good story writers to make a true masterpiece.

I can't believe it's mid-2023 and people are still saying Ichigo didn't earn crap...

There may be a plot justification for each of his new powers and forms, but it's also clear that all but a small fraction of them were decided long after the character was created, and Ichigo always feels like he's being retconned.

I like bleach, naruto, and one piece but bleach still my most favorite manga. Eventhrough it indeed way sooner than those two.

I really curious how Ichigo will battle in upcoming Hell Arc, since as we know he lost his Quincy and Hollow power to Yhwach as we seen his Shinigami Shihakushou form once again become the one before Fullbring arc. So how Ichigo will fight and could Isshin teach him how to use Fire Attribute attack since both Shiba member Isshin and Kuukaku can use it, also the Ichigo Bankai, I really looking forward for him to use it again.

You know what you could do for a video There was things in the manga that wasn’t in the anime Like aizen on top of the roof with captains enjoying fire works Or There was the time when kon should of been in the manga but isn’t in the anime like how he went with ichigo to huraharas shop I mean come on aizen spending time with other captains in the manga would of been awesome to see That part in the manga would of made his betrayal more painful cause you assumed he was a good guy So yeah there is loads of things in the manga and novels and data books that wasn’t put in the anime Like in one of the data book it tells us that orime healed the remaining arrancars after the war with aizen That would of explained a lot You know something like that There are loads of things in these books that should of been the anime

Normally power ups in anime are gained by emotion or training. But in Ichigo's case it was a battle against his own souls. His power ups are not at all random❤❤

I just wish he would have been able to keep his Fullbringer power. There's a good angle to a potential opponent keeping him from popping out his soul and forcing him to fight in his physical body.

in ost number one there are lyrics that say "Everybody wants a piece of you" and we all know that this is ichigo's theme, and did you know that throughout the bleach story the lyrics that I mentioned earlier are facts, gotei 13 gets ichigo's power by taking it through soul reaper bagde, ginjo took all of ichigo's fullbrings and divided them into xcution members, even ichibe said he took a little of ichigo's power to be able to revive himself. and i don't know your views on this but i'm sure that until bleach tybw is over and ichigo's child is shown, tite kubo hasn't shown how ichigo's personal zanpakuto looks like, lastly, consider again kyoraku's explanation regarding the function of the royal palace wall coming down and when it was down and why down at that time.

My opinion : He deserves them..... kinda Most characters trained for decades to just reach a fraction of the power that Ichigo possess. But Ichigo was BORN with those powers, it's his right to have them. Furthermore, he was never presented to us as an underdog who had to work hard to achieve something. Does it really matter? Not really. We saw his struggle and all the adversities he had to face in order to unlock these abilities. Even Zaraki didn't earn his powers and look how broken he is and nobody cares if his powers are deserved or not.

Those that say that Ichigo's power ups are random just don't have the ability to pick up on these little intricate details, foreshadows, hints, and so on that the past events had for them. Basically lacking brain powers. Just stuck at DBZ level where Goku's power ups are just simply due to him being a hard training alien, who happens to encounter the right trigger at the right moment. As much as I love DBZ and spent all my childhood watching it over and over and over again, the character development of Bleach, especially Ichigo is undoubtedly on another level and those who say bs like that have some intellect deficits.

Love the Zangetsu Ichigo uses in his Fullbring Shikai form, but I'm not so much a fan of that uniform. Also not a fan of his dual bladed Zangetus after reforging in the TYBW BS.
