This video is about the ICON 1952 M37 Derelict For Sale (SOLD SORRY!) ! We built this beast back in 2010, for use on a ranch in Colorado. Super cool truck!
Watched the video as always this build is a real credit to you and your staff ! My project is on a shoe string budget ! My funds are Considerably less than your resources.
Pete - you and me both, brother. Though I have supreme respect for what Jonathan and ICON does, and I would certainly commission them to build something for me should I ever happen to fall over backwards into a pile of Kruggerands, my future M37 project will be somewhat less extravagant than this beautiful truck.
Only things I don't like are the vertical windshield -- never did care for that -- and the choice of rims. I would have gone with something more stock-appearing or more appropriate. Otherwise, love it! Wish Caterpillar would build something practical and utilitarian like this, or the Unimog or '52 Power Wagon. Their utility is their beauty. I hate the fashion statements the factories are churning out now.
Hi Jonathan! I have loved every one of your Derelicts you have created until this one. I understand this is one of your earlier ones you created but it doesn't meet the build quality and effort we have seen and gotten use to from the other Derelict's. I hope you will consider keeping this one and rework it to match the high quality of your other Derelicts. A new Cummings, Duramax or Power stroke with a newer transmission it would be awesome in this. Keep up the great work my friend and thank you for keeping these old beauties on the road.
I'm a veteran and if I had the money to buy it I would im broke and all I could do is trade you for my jeep XJ that I've been slowly restoring lol thank for the awesome video
Very cool truck! Love that it has a diesel motor. I am convinced you guys could do an AMC Gremlin and somehow make it look cool. My mom had one of those gremlins and every day she would put a quart of oil and $5.00 gas in it. That POS just kept running....
Your friends analogy doesn't work. It's not comparable. You can wear out your own jeans easily enough, but to create a derelict on your own from a new car would require time travel.
Your friend is half right. When you buy "distressed" jeans they've been purposefully damaged in the same way a million other pairs were done. These Derelicts come buy the rust, dents and flaky paint honesty over a period of decades as such even is they made another of the same year and model it would still be different. A better clothing comparison would be buying a leather jacket someone found in grandpa's closet that grandpa had kept when he came home from WWII.
I've been wanting to do a build something like this but with a DD two-stroke. The problem is finding a cool chassis like this with which to start. Is there some sort of network that I could join so I could search nationwide instead of just local?
Really special, Jonathan; I love the integrity of your vision - even to the dinged jerrycan! But your “patina” makes me itch … here in subtropical Durban, rust is a relentless enemy which destroys unmaintained cars in a few short years.
Just bought one 1952 have a 1996 chev 4x4 crew cab duelly 454 4l80 have 14 bolt single wheel rear diff to use should be a good project have to use chevy at $150.00 had to
If it had an oiled canvas canopy over the back, it would make a fantastic volunteer search & rescue troop carrier! Anyone want to buy it and donate it to my team? Great end of year tax deductible donation! Ok, I'll keep dreaming.
