This (long) video takes you on a tour of details and test drive in an ICON Thriftmaster, our version of the wonderful 1947-1953 Chevrolet Pick Up. www.icon4x4.com
One can't stress the creativity Jonathan and his shop craftsman have its like Hollywood.in the restoration world no short cuts no cheap parts just building a reliable vehicles that will last for a very long time of course the owner hast to do their part in keeping up with the maintenance. Which auto company shows their shop give you a tour of the shop and tells you in detail how it's done above all picks high quality parts and yes the prices is justified hours of labor, high quality parts, and the price for creativity and ingenuity. Thanks 😇
Very nice build, its over the top and shows with lots of money and the right people to do the job you can build anything, that does not impress me .with that said the person that directed the build did a nice job.
Great stuff as usual! As serious audio geek, I appreciate your your adopting Audison as outsource partner. In car audio scene there's a saying regarding speaker placement, "once you go floor, you'll never do door." It's not practical in many installations, but when possible, the SQ ROI is astounding.
You can't fake passion..... his voice may not have it ...... but you can see it in his work. Im not even into any of these cars but Man are they amazing if that makes any sense. Thanks Jonathan for sharing your ability.
Just knowing the fact such a vehicle exisits... makes me happy :-) p.s. your video narraration style is perfect for these amazing works of art but the best part is *those sunglasses* lol
Wow! I love these trucks. Thanks for creating these iconic legendary beautiful beasts Jonathan! I would love one myself, but it will have to be a right hand drive and be willing to travel abroad:-)
Love the video, Jonathan, and the truck. Many thanks. Back in the late 1970s, I owned a '52 5 Window, stock, except for some aluminum wheels and a repaint in a questionable metal-flake green. Until recently, as they've started to show up restored, I had felt that I'd overpaid for mine. $1,200. ;) All the best.
Hi Jonathan, Love your companies work! The attention to detail is what makes your company standout amount your peers!! My hats off to you! My question though is, have you ever thought about doing a detailed time laps Video of a build? Go into complete detail including your suppliers work (creating the frames, CNC work etc)...? I think that would be awesome as well!
I loved your recent Petrolicious interview, and now I notice that orange 2002 sitting in your lot. My guess is you're trying to get someone to fund that next dream (I hope someone already is!). I've personally wanted to do an E21 build using the 2.3L EcoBoost. Small package, full emissions, plenty of power, ease of maintenance, etc!
Jonathan, love the simplicity and fundamental honesty of your vehicles. There's an original 3100 on a used car lot nearby for $2900 but I just don't need another project. Shame.
I wish there was a way to fit two fuel tanks under the truck it would be a win win project more weight, more convenient to do this dual fuel tank it would require to call a special meeting with the shop craftsman and a healthy debate now it can be a achievable project. Thanks 😊
Now, I wish I lived in a different time and economy, and had the cash to get one of my cars done into an icon. And it'd be a different one; being swedish does provide you with some old classics.
I've always loved pre-60s GM pick ups to look at but have never had a use for one. I prefer a van where everything is inside, and dry. If I ever come up with the money, and there's a chance that I will, I would like to have you guys do a '65 or '66 Chevy Van. The long one. All modern mechanicals and a 327/Powerglide. I know I'm going to dream about it now. 'm thinking I'd need about $100K. It could happen. You do nice work.
Truly a fun ride to have. I my self would like to own one. It reminds of the video game "Paradise City" there is a truck like that in the game that I would only use
Mr Ward, as ever, lovely truck, when can we expect the thriftmaster inspired timepieces? I haven't pulled the trigger in a while and can't wait to see what you come up with! The watch, I may be able to afford, the truck, unlikely for a good while!
Overboard? - NAH.... It is the attention to detail that really makes your vehicles. Badge for the next one (unless there are copyright issues): ICON TR 3100 Thriftmaster
Absolutely love the Thriftmaster series trucks you produce. Unfortunately since I work for a living, I'm never going to afford this truck, short of hitting lotto. However, I do have two questions; 1. Have you ever considered using a three speed on the column tranny configuration? Is there even a three speed manual transmission that's capable of handling anything near the power plants you use. It occurs to me that while the absolutely fantastic performance characteristics of these trucks is a key point and using a three on the tree might seriously impede performance it would likely add a bit of authenticity that may well be desirable. 2. While I might not ever be able to purchase an ICON vehicle, .. where do you get those shades? Could you provide the brand and model? That frosted mirror look is great. I ride motorcycles a lot and I'm always looking for my next set of shades. Thanks for this and all the other videos. Absolutely a topic important to me and very well presented. Copious amounts of information offered in a brisk yet not hurried pace. Totally enjoyable. Thank You!
Got a pair of Dillon Optics. Great sunglasses, look good work great, .. except when riding. So, my $250. sunglasses stay whom and I'm still using $30. for riding. Oh well.
+Jonathan Ward Love your style! Y'all are awesome! I like this one the best, is there any way y'all could make this a "shadow" 4x4, or AWD? (same look, but maybe adjustable ride height) I live in snow country, so AWD or 4x4 is a necessity ... Subbed...
Huge brand fan and thrift master fan, couple of thoughts, since you run a distributer less engine, why not smooth the center section of the firewall? And not to discredit your dash design but I feel like since you added the stainless dash trim to the left side you should encompass the gauges as well. Also would love to see a 54, you don't see many of the cross hair grills. Love the quality and attention to detail you place in your builds! Thanks for sharing. my daughter and I love watching, she is young so maybe censor the language for little ears.
You all ought to do a F1/F100 late 40s/ to mid 50's the fat fendered ones, while I love what you did here, I think the Ford has a higher following.Do you void the warranty on the motor, with the addition of the super charger ?
For the ones that are blessed to own one piece of history keep it yes a farm truck turn into a traditional today's sports truck with keeping the vintage look..Too bad i couldn't buy one at a 1954 price but it doesn't work like that it's called inflation. 😇
+Jonathan Ward Very cool! I've been looking for someone to work with to build one that i've got. I actually shot you an email, look forward to hearing back from you!
Truck is very plain & flat, lacking life, whats up with the lizzerd logo etc, will look much better with original emblems, gladd you didnt cut & change the door handales, truck has very good bones, & faundation.
