Actually nasi dagang is a really complicated dish to cook. The rice or "nasi" use a different type of rice which is glutinous rice and have to be steam multiple time so it will br really soft. Then, we need to mix it with coconut milk and steam again. But now, we just use pressure cooker because it is faster. It usually took 3 hours to make the rice traditionally. For the gravy, we use ikan aya hitam or longtail tuna. This is the most delicious fish to use for nasi dagang. But u can any fish u like bcos this fish is a little expensive than other fish. We boiled the fish first with salt and tamarind peel to squeeze out the fish juice. Then we make the gravy or "gulai" with the fish. Usually we make this one day before so all the ingredient blend nicely. This way the gravy will have more strong flavour and more delicious to eat.
@FoodandFootprints

Haha we kept coming too late but still no complaints - the food is so good we didn’t mind! Watching them grill all of that meat fresh made it that much more special. This spot is a must!!

Oh wow yes breakfast seems to be a huge deal there, I know we are going to learn so much from this video. I barely eat breakfast ever but Lieles is always hungry so he might want to move there after we finish watching this video

The Mamuchos It was a real adjustment for us since we aren’t usually breakfast eaters or morning people 😂 - well worth it for all this deliciousness though!

1:20 Just to point out something, those big chillies are not 'cili padi', they're just red chili often used as garnishing the way bell peppers are used in the west. Cili padi or bird's eye chilli is tiny but it packs a punch as you already know.

Nasi kerabu is my favorite dish in the whole world. If I must have a last dish, nasi kerabu it would be. Living away from Malaysia, I would prepare the dish myself once in a while, that is IF by luck I could find the ingredients. The dish is originally from the state of Kelantan actually.
@FoodandFootprints
@FoodandFootprints 4 года назад
Great choice for a last dish! Like how light and fresh tasting it is on it’s own and packed full of flavor. Can imagine it is tricky to get many of those ingredients away from Malaysia. We read how it is from Kelantan and we ate some there too, also really good!

You guys cover so many restaurants in one video. That grill looks so good that I feel like I can smell it through the tv. Most channels would just don1 restaurant but just looked at your views and you guys are doing this right!!!! You guys should be the blueprint. Along with Mikki 😂

The BBQ was insanely good and the aroma - wow! Thanks a lot! We like doing longer form videos with multiple spots for the most part so we can cover a bunch and make a guide for people to watch and try these foods/places when they visit. Always fun to come up with how to structure the video/which places to include for each

Wow thank you so much!! Really happy to read that. So sweet of you. We would love to make it to Sarawak - definitely on our list. Most likely it won’t be on this trip, but would love to come and spend a while there and Sabah to really experience East Malaysia. We would gladly appreciate any food recommendations! We had Sarawak Laksa a few times in KL and loved it. Can’t wait to have it in Sarawak proper. Sending virtual love to you too - thank you for the support!

Looks like more & more westerner can take spicy food, even know more local food than some of the locals. If you guys like Clear Soup Pan Mee, I recommend this shop - Yee Jin Seng Restaurant (located in Nibong Tebal). I'm addicted to this Pan Mee and consume it every week.
