A Brooklyn staple is saying goodbye after serving up slices for nearly seven decades. News 4’s Adam Harding reports on the mad dash before Lenny’s closes for good.
So very sad that all these classic spots family owned for years and years have to disappear into the past! Tragic! Good luck and prayers to the family and their future!
Words cannot describe the sadness I'm feeling about Lenny's closing. My 92 years old mother still lives just a couple doors away from the Pizzeria. I tried to visit her at least once a month and when I do, I usually stop by Lenny's for a double decker slice. I'm forever heartbroken! Thanks for the memories and wonderful food!
@@viktorgadany7595 Yes, every city has crimes, but some cities actually have elected officials and police department who tackle the crimes seriously with blind justice, where as other cities like NYC and other liberal cities give special treatment to certain demographic who commit most of the crimes.
it should be noted here and its not that the girl serving Travolta the slice was his sister in real life also his mother makes an appearance in the film.
When I lived in bensonhurst I would go to Bally's on 86th street then after my workout I would walk down the street to Lenny's for some of their amazing zeppolies. Everything they made was amazing. Thanks Lenny for the great foods and memories.
@madmikemadmike That’s right it was his sister who served him pizza in the film. His Mother was the lady in the paint shop when Tony said he would knock a dollar off the tin of paint for her, the one you see him carrying through the street.
Am guessing the new restaurant opening in that space will fold within 6 months to a year, due to people who would normally get their Lenny's pizza slices, will go somewhere else. It will definitely have an effect on the nearby businesses and could cause a "domino" effect?! RIP Lenny's 🍕
I’m from Bensonhurst. I went there only ONCE after seeing Saturday Night Fever in 1977. Good pizza. But back then, Bensonhurst was full of great pizzerias. Still is (Italia Pizza on Kings Highway, J & V and DaVinci on 18th Ave., L & B on 86th, etc.).
@@keviny.9596 C’est la vie. Change can be a good thing. I love tradition, but change is inevitable. We moved to Georgia last year. Thank God there is a good Italian market (NY transplants) not far from me.
bensonhurst is much better now. all the chinese buyers are increasing home prices and improving the schools. italian kids are too lazy and don't work hard enough.
@@MeanLaQueefa the middle school on 65th and 17th used to be really bad. Now it's 75 percent chinese kids and is a feeder school for specialized high schools. last year they sent 50 kids to stuyvesant. Go Peglegs! high property values justify themselves because your children have a better future.
This pizzeria should be saved by fans and have the pizzeria turned into a shrine or a small museum or relaunch it after all I'm sure this famous landmark can be saved ...... By a few Brooklyn locals 👍😀 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕
It's hard to run a food business. Prices are going up and pizza is now everywhere. Secondly the owner didn't update the interior. People want to see something new and if not, they will go elsewhere.
they're retiring because the kids didn't want to be in the business and they went into accounting instead. I'm doing great btw. only losers blame the president for their own shortcoming, republican or democrat.
Jesus Christ is coming soon! Everyone please make sure you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! Please don't be left behind! Accept and believe in Jesus Christ! John 3:16, Revelation 20:15, 1 Corrinthians 15 1-4
Mayor Adams should allow an asylum seeking family to take over the shop and keep it open. The NYC residents could pay the rent in the building for the new asylum seeking owners for maybe 10 years to help keep it going.
