I got so excited when I saw the title!!!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to research and explain. I’ve looked up Yamato nadeshiko online but never found enough info other than “ideal traditional Japanese lady” I first heard about it because one of my coworkers said I was Yamato nadeshiko and I’ve wondered what it meant / deeper meaning since then .. I’m not sure if I have all the qualities but I definitely take it as a compliment if I am!! I’m pretty old fashioned 😂 Anyway thank you again and Please take care of yourself and your voice!!

I feel like one of the superiorities of Japanese culture is that Japanese people tend to live more existential unlike what others think about them. They enjoy and appreciate nature how it is and they accept and respect others for what they are, human being. I learn a lot from this culture and the more I dig in the more I fall in love with it. Thank you Santi San PS; I cannot wait to watch your video about Haiku.

Nice! Maibo understands english too! He is a good student! A dog reflects a lot the facial expression and emotions of his owner. I noticed this so many times about dogs. We could write a haiku about you two :)

I can’t wait to enjoy the sound of 蝉 during summer it’s been 8 years, since I left Italy that I don’t hear that, especially when they are close to the seaside in the pine trees close to the beach...

I kinda expect advice about appearance and mannerism, but most of the tips are about maturity rather than gender, I don't get why it applies only to women, though.

When I was a teenager, I remember my parents prepping me to become a "good wife" or "good mother" by forcing me to learn how to cook and clean. I was especially told to obey my father and elders, and in the future, when I have a husband, obey him. I was told to not be talkative, and dress conservatively (don't show a lot of skin). Of course I didn't really obey all of these as I was a rebellious child, lol. I can't say that these traits were considered the "ideal woman" in my culture but it was what a majority of parents taught their daughters. Nowadays from what I've learned from my friends who have children, not only are they expected to be good wives and mothers, if they have a job, they're expected to be good career women too. But it depends on the women as well, some of my more traditional thinking friends would be more inclined to follow these traits while my more liberal friends would only use it as a rough guide.

Hi Santi san... So let's talk. First, it's not an easy topic because people ask for this (like some recipes to do) and can find in the same time it's a kind of gender's stereotype... i'll take it as an global information lol because meeting someone else is always a mix between environement, personnality and maybe the moment the meeting happens. Then, various points are crossed for me in your speaking: for instance, mindfulness is linked with ability to adapt cause you have to accept reality to do it. Feel the moment, accept the reality of now is an aspect of mindfulness. It was interesting to hear that mindfulness is almost cultural for your people. Mindfulness has to be teached in west and it's often associated with meditation but like a personal journey. You're also make me smile... stories of hateful neighborhood are international. It reminds me of French white people (no offense here, Martinique is an overseas county of France and most of people here are black, one day i'll tell you our story) who are craving for living in Tropics but once some do, they complaint about all: singing of frogs, "too high" temperatures and lifestyle of local people... it's so weird for me! Why come if not to experiment something different? Talking about enjoying beauty of everyday... a cutie pie has stollen the show for a few minutes... he knows how to play by himself lol!!! Thanks you for your work as always.

I think that dude tries to explain about long-term perspective. You can tell how important something is today by measuring its potential future impact on your life. For example, if you come home from work at night and choose to play with your children or spend time with your spouse, rather than watch TV or read the paper, you have a long-time perspective. You know that investing time in the health and happiness of your children and spouse is a very valuable, high-priority use of time. Prioritize your values now, so that in the future you can raise a happy, well-mannered and healthy children. That’s what I think. Hahaha. BTW, I love “haiku” I like to write 3 short line that describes my feelings or events on certain days. My heart was supersized He came back After 6 years….

Actually there's some double standards to certain American sayings, but it really depends on the context of the situation. In the form of teaching, or advising, yes the saying of "There's no silly questions" is valid, because in that position you're informing others. Outside of that context, there's another saying, that's slightly sarcastic: "Ask stupid questions, get stupid answers." This is used more as an insult though, it's portrayed for someone to use common sense as _You're suppose to know this already, asking for help will just make you look stupid therefore people will think you're stupid, so figure it out on your own._ This is just one example how some American sayings contradict each other out of context.

I completely agree with you when it comes to introducing gender diversity into a really conservative society. My only gripe as you've rightfully pointed out. How come we don't uphold these same standards to all genders, including those identifying as male? Like these are very sensible standards imo and can be tweaked to apply to any life situation but why specifically apply the Yamato nadeshiko only to women?

Ah, Santi.... (okay, please note that these are western ellipses -- indicating the trailing off of a thought, and/or a thought continuing only in the writer's mind). I often finish one of your videos and nod my head thinking, "that's actually very interesting." When I want to express this, it feels repetitive. Thank you for your videos. For now, I want to share this. I understand why you say you can "feel" the west judging you. However, do you truly think we're all the same? Do you think we believe you're an exact clone of every Japanese man? (I'm not speaking about "public eye", "high/low context", etc.) Are you only a precise replica of every biological male on the planet? No. There's a western slang phrase I want to use, but it's "a bit" too much (I don't use it in real life). We'll play (how is your slang memory?), and I'll merely say I'd never "blow sunshine" at you. Today is the first time my dog has ever noticed Maibo. He appeared to comprehend that Maibo had a toy and was seeking your attention. (Who knows? Geddy's an 8lb canine ball of fluff. I used to believe dogs couldn't even see what was on a screen. It turns out, my dog doesn't usually care about other "TV" dogs. Occasionally, he's extremely interested in wolves and African lions.) So, I'm not the only one in this house who simps for Maibo.
