John, 2 points. 1. Have you asked the tourists if they watch You tube and look at the comments. 2. If Westminster Council are responsible for the roads and pavements, why on earth do they allow crowds like this to take over. Surely a safety risk
Hello John ! it's done ! I appreciate your videos..Thank you very much for your good job and all your very useful explanations for me who continue to learn your language and discover London but also the King's Guards and many other subjects.(that i love.).. I wish your channel a long life and success! Have a good weekend,, ...👋☺ from France
Watching this video, concerned about the long strap hanging in front of the horse. If he swung a foot could have been an interesting ride with all the people. 🤔
As an ex serviceman, I just don't understand why they don't explain to tourists that this is an active military installation and, as such, demands respect from visitors. These idiotic tourists standing there, laughing and making rude comments, need to be dealt with. It is not Disneyland and these are real soldiers. Thank you for explaining to the dense amongst us.
Still alot of tourists dont know english , as a EX security guard , still alot , of toriosts , dont know alot of english,,,, thats why they come to london to LEARRN English language .
they'd be at it all day long.. impossible. As an ex officer myself.. retired.. Met.. the police there are taking a very lenient view to the mickey takers which also as a person from a military family i found disrespectful. I saw on one video last year a female officer from the Met really deal well with one guy who was playing up on the pavement. MOD Police seem toothless. I know they are armed and therefore there for terrorist attacks on the soldiers and the guard the building.. still.. it looks bad.
John, I posted why do they stand and stare, then after I posted you walked over to the group and explained it makes the guard uncomfortable. Thanks for taking the time to kindly point this out. I’m sure the Guard thanks you
I’m always trying to figure out exactly why those people stand and stare and their youths usually make fools of themselves by mocking the guards. It’s all very odd like anything non-them are curiosities to be all but poked at.
You made an excellent point that all this is done as a DUTY to King and Country, not for the amusement of tourists! I see this as a paramount point to be made to these people in publications or tourist guides, etc. also, extremely important point is that once inside the gates they are NO LONGER ON PUBLIC PROPERTY!!! It’s a gracious privilege kindly and proudly provided by the British Country!!
@margaret-pb... This has been my thought for a while. John has shown us all the tour groups, and from what I have seen, some guides do explain the rules. I've said this once, but I feel the need to say this again @ LondonCityWalks should be a requirement to watch before anyone comes to London. But, some people are rude and don't care. It's a sad world we live in now. ❤🐴❤️ ❤️🐴❤️ ❤️🐴❤️🐎🐎🐎
Never ceases to amaze me how stupid and ignorant people are! I feel for the horses and the guards to have to put up with all kinds of nonsesence. Thanks again John for your commmentary.
The worst people to visit our guards are Hassidic Jews. They mock our Soldiers and it was soldiers like them who saved them from mass destruction in the last war when they were being massacred in their thousands when they were told they were being de contaminated when in fact they were being gassed. Check your history you fools.
John, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. You are definitely a gentleman. Thank you for letting those tourists know in such a balanced way. What they were doing was not right. If only everybody could remain as calm and explain as nicely. I'm sure the world would be a far better place.❤
We would never disrespect an American soldier on his post here in America.. We would not allow it .. These people are very ignorant. The adults are leading their kids to make a joke out of the situation.
Hi I’m from Australia 🇦🇺 it’s like the tourists think the guards are just having a play day, it should be easy to see that these men, women and horses are all serving their country. I’m with you I don’t find it funny I think they are disrespectful and maybe before visiting a country learn a bit about it. Awesome content enjoying your channel loads of info
Thanks for another great episode. As much as I love watching and learning about The King’s Guard and the magnificent horses, the complete disrespect shown and ignorance of the masses, makes me so annoyed. So sad people are beyond ignorant. I just hope the horses and Guards remain safe.
The poor guard, it seems so obvious to me that he is fed up and getting angry but thank you for explaining to people so they understand. I do wish they had some sort of capacity system so everyone can enjoy the guards and horses but not swamp them. Not possible probably so they just have to try to cope with the noise and vast numbers of people crowding, no wonder the horses start to nip and become agitated and the guards shout. Both guards and their horses look magnificent in the sunshine. So grateful that you give your time to show us these wonderful guards and horses John.
Thanks John, another great video. It beggars belief the attitude of some of the tourists, especially those who are having their photo taken and just jump in front of them like they are entitled to be first!! . I can fully understand the guards shouting when tourists don’t want to listen or just ignore the instructions being given! All the best Graham
Americans who call them selves Jews really weird group you just have to look at them to see that they are called HEDITS AND THE REAL JEWS ARE WORRID ABOUT WHAT THEY HAVE RECENTLY GOT UP TO
I know, it can't always be that easy to do, but I think the police should be quicker to intervene, more often, but especially when there are huge crowds . 🇬🇧
They are treating this Guard with Contempt , Their Ignorance is Appalling, It’s time for the powers that be to step in and put a stop to this . It’s demeaning to both the Guard and all the Service personnel It makes me so Angry, 😡 these Guards are brave serving soldiers not Zoo exhibits for their entertainment . Thank you John for your perseverance in trying to Educate these idiots .
It’s interesting to see this now. I remember there were many days that were just SO crowded, but it’s interesting that the crowd management has also changed. I suspect the videos taken during this period by yourself and the others at HorseGuards may have influenced a shift. Now I note, the MoD police officers are much more active in crowd control. They’re more alert to things happening inside the yard, and are a bit more proactive towards any issues. Also they seem to spend more time keeping close tabs on the troopers…..one in the tunnel, a couple at the arches etc. The stablemen too are spending more time in the yard, dealing with any hitches before they can become problems, as much as they can, making extra checks on the boxmen along with the gatesman, and working with the MoD officers to clear the way during guard changes which HAS helped the flow even tho the numbers don’t appear to have abated at all. I mean, it’s ALWAYS going to be a work in progress, but they’re doing what the army has always done best…..adapting, and doing what they can with what they have.
So little Good Manners and Politeness with visiting Tourists. So Chaotic. No thought for the Soldiers needing to walk around here. Would they come here, if there were No Soldiers or Horses ????!!!!🇬🇧
@@ecm958 and Long Live British Grenadiers King’s Guard. They’ve been keepin their Monarchy Cultures and Traditions well unlike the French that has twisted History
Excuse me, as one of your avid fans, your explanation about crowds and guard reactions was inspired, however, it seems to me a STRONG point should have been made that the guards are not permitted talking or conversing while on duty. Many people, most especially non British, are not aware of that, which may add to their not caring or understanding those circumstances. Therefore giving the poor guard trying to fulfill his duty as best he can, a great deal of frustration!
Visitors could show Good Manners by asking or researching other Cultures, before they arrive. This Bad behaviour has often happened, and Military Police have given Advise several times !! 🇬🇧
Well done John. I find it so annoying watching the tourists crowding the guards that way, When they are not on ceremonial duties they may be on manoeuvres, or fighting abroad somewhere. They are constantly training. They work so hard , just cleaning their kit takes 5 hours. We must respect our soldiers, they are our frontliner defence.
I commend the tolerance of the Horse Guards with these crowds and their inconsiderate behavior. I think if I were a guard I would need Primal Scream Therapy after every shift! 😂
I wonder if it would be a good idea to have volunteers maybe in the yard who explain why people shouldn't get too close to the horses or the soldiers in the yard.
When I see the many disrespectful tourists acting the 'fool' and interferring with the Guards and Horses at work, I want to ask each and every tourist "If you were a surgeon - Would you like all those people crowding around you, interferring, pushing and shoving to take pictures of you at 'work' ", How would you feel?? Maybe a few would stop and think..... maybe.
Thank you for having a word with the Israeli people it makes me so angry to always see them crowding the guards 💂 you were VERY tactful I hope they got the message
Smashing views of the horses .. superb animals - unlike the human ones !!! I really do not know how the Guards/Soldiers keep their temper …. They have the patience of Saints !
Is that horse Q10? If not he's a big fella. I love all your videos because I love the Guards and horses especially Arnie (Raden- Rahden) and Ormonde who are delightfully nibbly shall we say. From the Outer Banks of N.C USA. Love and hugs long distance to you.
You mean the Jews I agree this is the second or third lot I've seen on videos but at least this lot when explained they moved away they stood there far to long though and itseasy to mistake why the guard a hitting the sword on the ground
@@penelopeverstege4475how on earth is using the name a group calls itself “racist”? They’ ARE Jewish and are a part of a fundamentalist religious offshoot of mainstream judaism, Hasidic Jews. I know they’re not popular amongst more moderate Jewish groups because they’re equally rude to them. Sadly like most fundie groups, arrogance comes as standard. Seems inevitable that the moment a group starts thinking that they’re “special” and the “chosen ones” that anyone else’s rights go out the window.
I think that the Crown should have 'tourism' ambassadors at each station explaining the protocols and then allowing people in a regimented way to stand for photos.
Don't get me wrong, I stand with Israel and everything, but why are they so fascinated with the guards? They do this every time. I've seen them before and they do it every time. Does the uniform not tell ANY of the tourists that these guards are military? Most of the tourists don't respect military in their country in my opinion. At least those gentlemen talked to you and had misunderstood the situation. Good on them. I see it was an innocent act on their part.
Hi, thanks for your entertaining videos. Just out of interest, the left side door in the box on the right appears to have damage at the bottom of the door, has it been kicked by one of the horses? Regards Barry🙂
Honestly, never seen such rudeness shown by a few inconsiderate tourists there, just barging in on others photos , makes me furious ! Hope they see your podcast and realise !
Common Sense and manners disappear when most people come to Horse Guards. Hopefully London does not get Chicago's 6-12 inches of snow and 0 degrees F we are having in the next 24 hours. OMG JOHN it looks like middle of August
Well, this WAS in October last year……it was still very summery in London up till quite late in the year and relatively warm. Then ofc they got snow (a tiny bit)in Dec 😮 (and people call OUR weather contrary 😂)
I’m wondering if these people are rude like this everywhere they visit? I’m guessing they do, when I was teen I worked in a restaurant that would serve tour buses and the meal was a set price and menu and they made certain they got everything they were entitled to even though they rarely ate it all. That was fine except they were rude beyond belief, demanding, left unbelievable messes and rarely tipped. (Tip wasn’t included in the set price) It was a buffet style restaurant but everyone there worked hard and really hated to see these buses. Considering they were NY “cousins” to these people (minus the ringlets), I’m not all that surprised by the behavior. Saw way too much of it growing up in Florida.😾
Maybe those guard chains need to be moved to the front of the arch areas. Unfortunately people these days are so rude and entitled feeling. Btw.....he's hitting the sword scabbard on the ground.
Hey John. Hope you are enjoying your day off. The button behind the gate will probably be the emergency button for MOD police in case they really need extra help quickly. If things look ok a trooper will come talk to whichever civilians decided to play silly beggars.
Such a simple solution, yet whoever is in charge of this horseguards location is not smart enough to implement such a solution. What is allowed here at horseguards is disgraceful imo. There should be RULES & RESPECT.
Hi John I found your channel recently and I love the fact that you are talking and explaining things whilst you are filming. The soldiers are disrespected daily and when I watch your videos I get so cross with the tourists.
It is almost guaranteed that none of these people would disrespect uniformed troops in of their own countries whilst they are at home. So what makes them think it's ok to do so elsewhere. I think the ceremonial march og the Greek army looks ridiculous but I looked for the reason behind that leg stretching walk and I would never disrespect any tradition of another country.
This group always cause mayhem they are totally out of order and are the same whenever they turn up here. I have seen the exact group of people throughout the last year. same men in charge. they always behave so badly.
with the snow comeing , next week , wednesday ,, around 24 th january , and cold weather lets see what happends ...... stay safe take it easy xoxoxooxoxox
the other problem is that different cultures have different distances they stand from one another. Use here in trhe UK have one of the widest areas we are comfortable to stand. Add to that the fact that many European.. and Israeli troops, actuallyhave been stabbed to death. and the ever present terrorist threat.. its a hard one to Polcie for the MOD officers.. they are armed so cannot engate as easily as Met Officers on thebeat who are not armed.
The problem is that one group of people just would not leave and let any of the other tourist close enough to take their pictures. As a group they were just being inconsiderate and too bad you didn't just tell that guy they should move on.
Should be happy that so many people are coming to see and experience this. How do you expect to the public to know what the regulations are and what is expected of them? I understand many are idiots who harass, do stupid things and many do ignore the guard's, but there are no posted rules. Just part of the job and the Guard are well capable of dealing with the unruly public. But it is nice to see that you are helping to educate those, I think it is a long uphill battle. England will survive this tourist onslaught.
All the horses are beautiful, but this big one is stunning, this guard has such a handsome face but never seems very happy to being filmed, shame 😊 no I don't get the dogs thing either, if I brought my one he would bark at the horses, but he is jack Russell Cross gobbie little terrier 😂
I don't understand these people. I would love to get a great picture of the horse, but why do all the visitors HAVE TO take a selfie? Don't they know what they look like? Would they walk up to a person doing road construction and take a selfie with that person? I maybe older, but please person, leave the guard and horse alone! And there seems to be certain nationalities or group who are the worse offenders. They are like children who want to touch EVERYTHING in a store!
stopping and staring at his clothes sword etc... Is very interesting to see as is not typical for a random person you see every day, also the metal chain between the guard and the tourist is ment for the tourist not to come closer, quote me if I'm wrong, I'm not biased in any religion it's the behaviour-mocking laughing at the guard that I don't get
