😊This is the stupidest feature I have ever had. Why not have it off AND if you want it on. The wear and tear on your starter far out weighs any minute possible savings in gas you would have.
Many poor asian countries taxi drivers ROUTINELY turn off their engine manually at red lights something like 40 times a day, no problems. Even old FIATs.
Compared to the wear and tear caused by starting the engine, it does not save gas that is beneficial for your bank account, nor the environment. In fact depending on the time it is stopped and started it is worse than keeping you engine on
This feature have a dangerous recall on most 2023 models that can cause fire! my hyundai got a recall related to this feature which i will get done tomorrow.
This is the dumbest thing ever, on a steep ramp going to street level from underground parklot . You have to stop to see its clear .The car turns off, you take your foot off the pedal on the brake to start the engine, we'll guess what your vehicle starts to go back and almost hits the car that's behind you waiting for you to drive up the ramp. How Are you gonna explain that to the insurance ?
Despise this "feature". Extremely hot, this shuts everything off. It is a safety hazard. Furthermore, it causes extensive additional wear and tear on the engine, starter, and other parts of the car. And if driving in a city with bad drivers, you need that extra 1-2 seconds to move out of the way of a moron that is about to ram you. At worst this should be an Opt -IN ....NOT an OPT OUT. Best would be to remove it entirely.
Spot on.. driving in a city with so many moronic drivers, traffic queues, lights and roundabouts... it feels like you are a sitting duck when entering roundabouts.
Also. This stop start idea. Is not good for the turbo. They don’t like being. Just stopped. After a run. They need a minute to run at tick over. So to lube the inner bearings
When I first heard cars doing this I thought are these people idiots for turning their car off all the time. Now I see it is a feature. Dumb as can be. Wear and tear is gonna be drastic (but hey Hyundai does not care cause they will get money to fix it. My guess right after the warranty runs out. As others have said it is fine to have this feature included, but it needs an an always off by default and you turn it on. They did this same thing with genesis coupe pre 2013 that you had to turn traction control off each time. And these companies are wondering why people flock to Tesla...
I so wish they would get rid of this on newer models (i lease, my 2022 Tucson had this, and the newest model has it as well). This especially sucks in the car school line. You have to stop A LOT!
There aftermarket cables that will bypass this feature. I can't stand this feature. Causes damage to the engine and extra wear and tear on the starter.
I actually like it. The tricky part is that when you stop to park, you must stop gently to put it park. After about the third time, I had it down. Saves fuel and engine idle time.
I just got one of these as a loaner while my older Santa Fe gets a new engine for a recall. My engine went out in the middle of traffic and was a nightmare. Then I get this car with the engine turning off, which I had no idea it did that, and had high anxiety when it happened. I already have PTSD from my own car conking out in traffic then this thing is doing it on purpose!! Not a good, safe feeling at all.
I have a 2022 Tuscon SEL. This feature is extremely annoying and is one of the few 'features' I genuinely dislike (dare I say hate) about the vehicle. I've had my Tuscon about a month now. There needs to be a way to permanently disable it because its easy to forget to always push the button, especially if you turn off the vehicle to run in a store quickly and go back in thinking your settings are saved. The stopping and starting at lights and in traffic, especially in a city, is NOT IT. Plus it worries me about the wear and tear on the engine. Overall a feature that needs to be optional and Hyundai models should allow users a way to deactivate it or change the settings for ISG not to be automatically on whenever the vehicle is started. Seriously my biggest con on my vehicle so far, but when I press the button and keep ISG off, I love my whip.
Unplugged the small cable at the battery and the ISG shows off. Side affect is that the Check Engine lite is always on. This may cause othe malfunctions to be overlooked.
@@drnapalm7605yeah, well it’s still a marginally better car than the POS oil guzzling 2016 Tucson we just got rid of at a huge loss! Of course Hyundai did everything they could to not honor the warranty even though we never missed an oil change! I should have bought an Outback when I was going too. I will NEVER buy another Hyundai product!
Hyundai, I am from the Middle East and the temperature is high here. What is this stupidity? Why is it forced? I want to stop it. Isn’t the car private property? Why is this nonsense and forced? I want to stop it completely. Help us with a solution.😡
Yes, this feature is ridiculous & annoying! It needs to always be off with an option to turn it on for the very few that may like it. Even better option is to get rid of it completely!
As it has already been written before me here several times, this is the stupidest, lamest solution that has been invented for cars. However, I think it is shameful that this function can only be deactivated with special tools, by opening the cover. Really, can anyone tell us and back it up with real scientific results, does this have an effect on our environment, or can we also consider this a hasty money-making opportunity looking for a problem?
