This is the most emotional duet ever, i loved to see James Blunt supporting Iam, but if you watch closely, James hand that holds the mic is shaking and there are certain stresses in his voice that shows he can still remember the pain of nearly loosing his dad, but on stage he took the fathering or supportive roll of getting Iam throught the song, you can see that they both felt it. Amazing, rememberable and heart breaker all at the same time 😢.
yes! because he knows what that pain feels like, and james luckily didn’t actually lose his dad, Iam did, and james could see his pain and automatically remembered his own, it’s how we are as people(if we’re good people) if you’ve gone through something painful and u see another person going through the same thing it’ll hurt you too because you’ll understand how they feel. we as humans are so so so similar in so many ways that many people now a days try to act like they don’t feel what others do but it’s all bs, we all have that emotional connection to others wether we show it or not

There was a very short intro, which you caught at the very end of it when James Blunt began singing. At the end of this very emotional duet, American Idol quickly cut to commercial! I'm guessing because the judges, especially Katy Perry was sobbing. 😢
There is lead up. It's on TALENTKINGHD channel. American Idol stopped uploading the intro packages once they got to live performances.. Even the hug at the end was super long and James kissed him on the cheek too & whispered sth to him. Normally they interview the guest singers but bc of the emotions, they just went to commercial. James was emotional/trembling throughout tho he had to get it together to be there for Iam. Also, you will notice they didn't show Lionel once throughout as opposed to auditions.
I see it so differently. As a kid and his dad is dying and he hears this song and connects is emotional in itself but now he is singing side by side with the man with the artist Iam related with.
There was a lead up to this song they sang.. but of course they didn't show it. They had shown a few short takes of the audition, Iam and his dad together and then Kate saying.."This one is for Rodney!" ...then they started the duet. I wished they started this video with all that.....
I picked up tickets today to see his next concert. Turtle Bay Resort. Saturday, July 1st. Headlining the event are Iam Tongi and Spawnbreezie. I'm flying in from the Big Island just to catch the action. Should be an awesome experience.
James Blount father had kidney disease and he got a transplant and he survived. Still living today. Iam Tongi''s first had a heart attack and he couldn't work and that's when they moved to Seattle. After all this Rodney (Iam Tongi's dad name). Ended with the same disease Kidney failure as James Blount had father had the same. Love always. Ontario, Canada
