I loved how James realized the emotions Iam was feeling and carried him through the remainder of the performance. When he sang 'You can feel my hand on your arms' he reached for Iam, and reassured him that he understood and has his back. It gave Iam the boost he needed to carry on. I have a feeling that they will build a beautiful friendship from this experience.

For me it was the moment James sang "you can feel my hand on your arm" and he became the father putting his hand on Iam's arm.

Iam said when James Blunt start to sing it was James's powerful emotional voice that broke him down in tears. And Iam said it painful even more when James grab his arm but Iam Tongi seem to pull it together. Great job Iam Tongi I could only image how powerful and emotional James Blunt must have been especially if you're standing right next to him. 🥰❤🤟🙏

It was at that moment when he looked at James - he was seeking his help to help him thru, because he knew he was on the verge of breaking down, but thank God for James Blunt - he was the father at that point, and Iam bless his big heart, was able to get thru it. The world needed Iam at this point in time. Thank you Iam.

Yesssah!!! I just saw that Iam is #1 on iTunes and James Blunt is #2!! I truly believe only Iam could've hit #1 on iTunes the day after he won! It might be the 1st time in history that an Idol winner hit #1 - I'm not sure about that but I AM positive that no other Idol winner hit #1 this quickly!! Right on Iam!! He's already a star. “You can feel my hand on your arm”….. I had a flashback of my Dad’s last breaths. My Dad was in a coma for the last 12 hours, no response to people touching him, until my Mom sat down next to him…no words were said when she touched his arm. He woke up solely by her touch. He looked her, and she said…”you can go now”. The look in his eyes were as if they were saying “finally and thank you”, and he passed away. For the last week of his life, he was at the end of a cancer battle….he said he was going to wait for my Mom to say it’s okay to go. That’s what he did…… That visual is forever etched in my mind and memory. Heartbreaking, but beautiful moment.

For all the cheers and support Iam has received, I'm sure all he really needed and wanted was his dad in this moment. Love your reaction, honest and tender.

That was so deep and emotionally transformative. I have never seen something like that on TV. Loss is real and James wrote that song for his father and they Iam barely was able to finish and James powered through the song and then offered a hand to his shoulder to bring Iam back so they could try to finish. Wow, both were both so emotional and that is hard to carry through when one is that emo because the vocals shut down and start quiver. James Blunt really saved him with that partnership and took over... just that look at James... poor baby was overwhelmed with a superstar, in front of millions of people, and then in the final part of his time on American Idol... the pressure for sure. Poor baby... only 18... daddy just died 2 months prior.

Every song, his singing hit you in the heart with his personality. A few people have commented on this, so I'll add my two cents. I think the "hand on your arm" was an adlib. The original line is "you can feel my hand on your own." I think James saw Iam struggling and changed it to "you can feel my hand on your arm," which is exactly what was going on. An amazing gesture that obviously helped Iam collect himself and power through the rest of the song. Either way, Iam was amazing, Listening to his voice is like putting a cashmere sweater around your heart. There's a bit of texture because it's all natural, but it's also soft, warm and soothing,

Thanks to Iam Tongi on American Idol I never would have heard this song. My dad passed 3wks ago May 4th 2023 an im bawling. My husband found this song yesterday and I feel this was a sign from my dad to not worry, he is ok. RIP DAD 2-10-56 - 5-4-23
