An engaging issue. And behind-the-scenes, Shadow’s change in character and toning down of his pride is due to SEGA dialing back their mandates. Evan Stanley confirmed this on Tumblr, the IDW team has clearer guidelines for Shadow & they can now use him the way they want to use him in any story. And Eggman sure is menacing, just like SatAM & in Archie, even though he technically was always menacing since his debut.

Glad to see a video covering IDW 59. It seems that eggmans new city is designed to best handle any kind of mess that Sonic and friends can cause to it. It is nice to see Shadow show off some of his skill in this battle with the Androids. Loving were this arc is going.

Imagine if Wisper learned about Sega Plot Armor, she would try to give it to everyone on Earth, so that no one could die again.

This could've been an opportunity to make real a headcanon I have regarding Dark Super Sonic, that it wasn't triggered by negative energy, but by distorted artificial chaos energy. When I initially read the issue, I was VERY worried about Whisper! Fortunately a later issue has Whisper on a cover, so hopefully Tempo's spiritual successor will be okay.

i'd be for sonic having classical inspired covers. :3 for shadow's inhibitor rings he probably didn't want to waste that huge burst of energy on basically fodder(like imagine if he did only for a giant eggman mech to immediately drop in front of him.) and compared to dragonball/similar works where it'd plot armor most of the time for stuff they should've lost at sonic & friends have been going against huge robots for years that it's more experience.(is cool seeing them,especially blaze and silver fighting the shadow androids though poor whisper.)

Nice to see the other heroes outside of Team Dark actually get acquainted with the Shadow Androids. Although it is a bit odd that none of the Team Dark members ever brought it up beforehand.

I hope Sonic revisits Chaos Control or the Chaos Force in general sometime after this issue. It’d be pretty cool to see how he utilizes it for combat

I always find it interesting that they use the shadow lighting to make Eggman menacing only when he's not dealing with Sonic. To Sonic, he's a threat but one that can be dealt with and have fun along the way. To the other animals, especially the non-Sonic Heroes, he's a towering monster responsible for most of the terror and suffering in the world.

Personally, I'm glad that Tangle is getting some much needed character growth; she's been forced into a position of uncertainty, one where it's apparent that there is a chance of her losing people close to her, twice in a row now. This will ultimately allow her character to mature, with her realizing that there are times when she can't afford to take things lightly. Also, I'm glad to see Shadow getting a cool moment.

I want shadow to take off his inhibitor rings and use chaos blast to be what destroys the city. Apart from some sort of domino effect that Tails thinks of out of his butt, it is the only way to produce as much chaos energy as possible.

I just want to point out how tall eggman is to these guys. I mean sonic like 3 ft something and eggman is like 2 ft taller. I would see why eggman would be frighting to think about when you're a rookie to the whole hero thing unlike sonic, tails, and others.

7:21 the inhibitor rings being canon outside of 06 and sonic x is questionable. I'd love to have ian flynn chime in on that, seems like something up his alley considering his previous canonization of shadow being slower without the shoes. the rings havent been used or mentioned in any games or story aside from 06 so its up in the air.

Seems like Shadow's power and the fake chaos emeralds didn't agree with each other. The output was likely too much for Shadow to handle which must have caused the power surge.

Jewel and Belle should have been in the diamond cutters, considering Jewel is like Tangles bestie and Whispers friend,lanolin is also cool but jewel just makes more sense to be there same with belle

Shame Lanolin and Whisper got sidelined again but Tangle is the fastest of the trio so she should be able to get to Sonic and the others quickly enough to tell them and or Shadow about what to do.

9:14 when I saw this part I thought metal sonic have a metal virus while being jealous of the shadow Android but it turns out it's only the lightning

This issue marks the first time in the IDW continuity that Omega and Blaze are in the same place. I wonder if Omega's crush on Blaze will carry over from Archie.

I'm sorry, but I really don't like the NEW Diamond cutters team unless they add Belle to the team as the mechanic. I don't care about this action stories, I want to see more stories where Belle hangs out more with Tangle and Whisper.

I'm not fond of Adam's artwork this issue. Same with the coloring.

Can't say I really liked this issue. The action in its drawings is not only hard to fallow but also Evan ones again falls back to the same issue I had with her writing back in Chao Races and Badnik bases in that she massively nerfs the power of the main cast as it seems the only way she can generate tension during combat and I'm really not a fan of this. Like remember Forces final battle yes? Because unless these Shadow androids are significantly stronger than both the in game ones from Shadow's solo game and the Phantom Ruby copies from Forces does it make no sense that these guys give our heroes this much trouble. Here its especially bad in how half the characters don't do anything and or don't use there abilities properly at all. Blaze just throws flames when she usually outside of her burning form uses them not directly but to augment her regular kick attacks, Omega despite the chain guns clearly not working refusing to use his claws, rockets or plasma canons instead. Never mind pulling a heroes and change to using Rouge and Shadow as ammunition, Silver does like nothing no psi freezing, no psi energy blades, no Psi picking up junk to create a giant death bolder, Tails does somehow even less, Amy's one attempt it stopped by the Shadow android catching her hammer mid-swing because apparently are these robots strong enough to tear the earth in 2(trial by fire 4) its not like last issue just reminded us that Amy by this point in continuity is suppose to have grown stupidly strong or anything. Even Shadow was nerfed to hell only being allowed to do anything but using Chaos control(because I guess his hits hit harder when time is stop or something like this). The Chaos explosion also makes no sense really. How can shadow overload? No matter how physically big these fakes are there is noway that they contain more power than the 7 Real ones given that each one of them individually has near limitless power. Tangle and Whispers reactions after being visible again is also lack luster I can forgive Lanolin for not doing anything as she is clearly not mentally ready but after everything so far is it nonsensical that Whisper and Tangle didn't do anything imminently all of which would ether have revealed that they are still not solid meaning they could ether runaway or hide from Eggman's trap inside of Eggman as he obviously won't allow it to erase himself. Generally does it seem more than a bit odd that Eggman feels so in control given that he can't be sure how solid they are again. If fully could Whisper kill him if Metal isn't fast enough (and we clearly saw that she was willing to here again) and if they aren't could they still escape just about everything he has by just going through a wall. Eggman doesn't feel menacing he feels like a moron that only got lucky that the Diamond cutters took so long to do anything. The story is not quite unsalvageable but man did Evan not do a good job in continuing this story in motion so far.

Ok issue, but sonic didn't do anything awesome against the shadow androids worthy of note. Silver was just floating in the air fighting pathetic badniks when he could be lifting the dangerous shadow androids away from his friends. The poor boy nerfed again. His powers were misused so shadew could show off and make everyone go "so cool". Blaze powers was just being used generically as your basic fire Pokemon move: flamethrower and completely useless against them. Way to make her irrelevant. I dunno the actual action was lacking and kinda underwhelming despite the threat of the androids. Wasn't that fun despite some good dialog. The real highlight was Tangle being put in a precarious situation. Maybe it'll actually lead to growth for her and actually think for once? Poor whisper has more trauma to get therapy for. Lanolin probably will need a therapist, too. Eggman and his plot armor. Would've more cool if the girls became solid and Eggman sent metal after them or used metal to deflect the Whisper's laser shot before unleashing his upgraded trap.
