in my opinion paw feet is cuter I never understand why Sega being weird about their characters taking off their shoes , some people find the blob feet weird at some point Sega went full on censorship even tho Bigs feet is still showing that's not socks bruh

@@loiiysailor1177 I agree. They should have just used Nicole's feet as an example and be done with. Although I am blaming Sonic Forces for this. They had a slippers as a character customisation option and instead of picking one they went with the ugly split blobby feet.

I might have a few theories as to why Sega (of Japan specifically) has such a strong aversion to showing the mobian characters barefoot: 1st: Sega wants the mobian characters to strongly adhere to the rubber-hose esque aesthetic of almost all cartoon characters established by Disney and Looney Tunes shorts between the 1920's thru the 1940's (whom almost never took off their gloves and/or shoes (if they had them in the first place), or changed their clothing for that matter). 2nd: The blobed feet (which I hate too) of the mobian characters (specifically) are a result of too many artists can't get the design of their feet right on a consistent basis; due to by some artists giving them human feet (as seen in an issue of the Archie Sonic comics where Sonic had human shaped feet while he was sleeping in his race-car bed), by giving them the 3-toed foot design most funny animal cartoon characters of the rubber-hose era (1920's - 1940's) had at the time (which was the most consistent design of the lot (which can be seen in most Sonic related children's books and cartoons at the time)), or at worst, completely f@#%ing up their feet by giving them those horrid 2-toed alien-looking bird feet (looking at you Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon). 3rd: The cartoony looking mobian characters may cannonically (as of the Adventure era & onwards) have 4-toes on their feet (Which I personally agree with, and like the most for them), (Which you can catch in the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie by Paramount, when Dr. Robotnik has a scan of Sonic's footprint on one of his monitors. (Yes, I know it's not canon to the games, but it's the best example I've got to illustrate my point.)) But due to many oriental countries (especially Japan) having a viscerally strong aversion to the number 4 (due to it being associated with bad-luck and evil (superstitiously), as well as organized crime and gang activity (namely the Yakuza), characters (be it in fiction, or live-action) they create in country, or heavily associated with their company that's based in Japan, almost never have 4 ligaments on their hands, and/or feet; (or at the very least, never reveal it in public). 4th: Save for bathing/cleaning, going to beach, or times when it can't be helped (due to either loosing their shoe(s), their in a situation where it's ABSOLUTELY necessary to be it, most oriental countries highly frown on humans (or humanoid characters) being barefoot, and see it as something only wild primates, and/or the most destitute of people would be most of the time (at best (this one mostly applies to Japan and China)), or see and treat it as a sign of great disrespect and/or insult to their culture and/or religion (this one mainly applies to Taiwan, India and many others); ESPECIALLY if you show the soles (bottom) of your feet to others at ANY time. Or 5th: Sega of Japan is fully aware of numerous fans/members of the Sonic franchise/fandom that are aroused by feet (let alone the rotten and depraved of said lot, that take it too far with their artistic expressions or obsession with the mobian characters (particularly with the minor-aged characters). And in order to keep the Sonic franchise, and its characters as rootedly established and squeaky clean for universal appeal reasons, let alone as to avoid giving anyone with an arousal to feet (and to a much lesser extent hands) ANY validation, let alone fodder, Sega of Japan most likely mandates that ALL mobian characters must NEVER be shown gloveless and/or barefoot under ANY circumstances (at least, as far as their official works are concerned). (Quick P.S. relating to the 2nd and 3rd possible explanations: When designing the Sonic cartoons and/or books in the 90's, DIC and/or Sega of America originally had all of the mobian (animal) characters 4 fingers on their hands, and 4 toes on their feet. But after sending said designs to Sega of Japan (or showing them to a representative(s) of Sega of Japan, DIC and (possibly) Sega of America got multiple visceral notes from the Japanese branch to NEVER draw their characters with 4-fingered hands, and/or 4-toed feet on every page of drawings that had characters with them; which would explain the 5-fingered hands and 3-toed feet designs (which I never thought made any sense anatomically, even as a kid) of the mobian characters we had in the 1990's.)
