he needs to GIVE an apology as well to Lanolin and Whisper, since he DID act provocable even though Whisper warned him not to act without proof (she only acted out because Lanolin wasn't giving her a chance to explain and test Duo) and Mimic took advantage of it

she just needs to grow more as a character, hence why there needs to be a Diamond Cutters story arc following the issue 64 events with Lanolin as the central character, but ALL of them with their own tension issues. yes, i admit, i flip-flop with Lanolin now and then, between defending her and reprimanding her, but i AM trying to be middle ground. IF she were to leave AFTER Mimic's expose, let it be a temporary leave of absence to learn the values of trusting your teammates, preferably with Blaze as a companion, since she's had a similar story

this is assuming the restoration makes it after Mimic's done with it, it's completely possible he will go further setting people against eachother and leaking their secrets. Eggman absolutely will launch a full scale blitz if any of their information is leaked that would make them easy to attack. Since Mimic has full access to all their paperwork now, there is no confidential information he won't see. Whisper was not wrong to act the way she did, she knows what Mimic is capable of and it could spell the end of the Restoration. The restoration aren't mentioned in Frontiers, which shares continuity with the games, which could imply they were disbanded or destroyed at some point. Maybe this is how that starts.

@@ORLY911 The whole idea that the games, IDW, and Prime are in the same continuity is a claim that Sega has made only dubiously possible. I, for one, cannot see game Eggman as having created the Metal Vitus. It's just TOO evil; like punishable by death evil. I'm not trying to make game Eggman out to be a non-threat; but I just can't bare the thought of the main Eggman being someone I want hanged, shot, and stoned to death SIMULTANEOUSLY. Prime also doesn't seem to work as part of the main continuity, as it implies that Green Hill is the permanent home of the characters and that Eggman's Robots have always been powered by Flickies. Overall, I can only accept the three as being part of a Continuity Family, like in Transformers. It's the only way they can truly fit together without too much conflict.

If Lanolin's gonna be on a team with Whisper, she needs to trust Whisper's judgment, Whisper was likely going to reveal Mimic's suction cup palms, but I do agree she could have shown the footage of Duo tripping Silver, at the very least that would have made Lanolin more willing to listen, and put Mimic into a no win situation where he either has to let himself be revealed or run making himself seem even more suspicious

Mimic really will have to play his cards carefully when Surge and Kit come around in the Restoration HQ for ratting them out just like with Silver. As it definitely will not be a easy one considering how Surge is indeed a living Wildcard no thanks to Starline as she could easily without literally any hesitation turn him into fried calamari via her Lightning powers, and that’s not to mention Kitsunami who’s the brains of Surge’s brawny side whom could easily be quite a obstacle with his hydro backpack for allowing him to form his watery tails to harm Mimic.

That would be assuming Whisper is even aware of all his tells. Sure, we know about that tell, but if he was planning to betray the Diamond cutters, he probably did not share all of his weaknesses and tells with his allies. Honestly, suction cup palms were probably easier to hide than his unique eye colour. And in general would I say his suction cups are the easiest to know tell as its the only one he can't ever possible get rid off.
@Shywhitefox
@Shywhitefox 9 месяцев назад
@@rynobehnke8289 I can certainly see the point of that, but clearly he had his infiltration skills to begin with. You do not just develop them just because you go evil, and he would have no advantage to revealing that weakness to the first Diamond Cutters. The less people who know about a weakness, the better, especially if he could be easily convinced into betraying them for his own safety, and keep doing what he is doing now. If he is as good of a infiltrator as he claims, then he would take conscious efforts to hide a weakness he can not hide under normal circumstances, whether that is hiding his hands with gloves, having his hands facing away from people, folding them, or whatever else. As well as this, Whisper has seen him take on a form WITH gloves, such as Sonic, so maybe she in unaware that he can just cover his disguise with another disguise. After all, if it was possible for him to do that, then why would he no do that every time?

I personally don't blame Lanolin since I can easily see things form her perspective. Like everyone, she acted based on the information she had available. From her perspective, Whisper and Silver were harassing a team member who had done nothing that would warrant such behaviour and then accused him of being evil before trying to harm him without showing any actual evidence. Truth be told, if I would have been in her place knowing only what she knows, not what we, the readers, know, I probably would have acted fairly similar. I am also fine with Silver for his actions as they are very much in-character for the young hedgehog. Though as a Silver-fan, it was still sad to see him getting gaslighted like that. I'm, however, a bit confused why Whisper, after getting spotted by Lanolin, immediately voiced her and Silver's suspicions when: A. They didn't inform Lanolin beforehand in private implying they didn't trust her to know their suscpicions and B. Mimik was RIGHT THERE. Like, did she seriously not consider the very likely possibility that Lanolin would not allow her to act without prove against Duo? Even if Mimic wouldn't have pulled his little act, exposing her suspicions in front of him was a bad idea in any scenario that wouldn't end with her exposing him. Speaking of Mimic's little act, I feel like Whisper got convinced a bit too quick that Duo isn't Mimic. Not only since his trick wasn't exactly a 1000 IQ play (personally, I realized he would pull something like that the moment Silver and him ended up alone) but also because she literally saw him sabotaging Silver last issue. I do hope this is just an act on her part and she still keeps an eye on him. Or at the very least doesn't suddenly start trusting him.
@rynobehnke8289

I would like to remind you that the Lanolin thing is already an issue in the last issue were she scuffed at Silver for being "to reckless" and ignore the giant contradiction in Duo's statements that combined with Silvers, who himself is one of the most trustworthy persons around given his history in this comic, would seriously imply that he left him for dead. This seems to be a general issue with how she was written here to quickly get Silver back out of the story as he was really only hear as a jumping board for Mimic. The big issue I have with Silver here is that Mimic or not Duo just left him for dead and he just forgets it. But also that Silver could at any given moment just use his powers to remove his gloves revealing the suction cups underneath. And yes Whisper did act really badly here

@@dekardraven963 Whisper filled him in on Mimic if she left that part out was that way to stupid to make sense for Whisper character to do so. And yes the fact that they were waiting for a mistake was a flaw from the beginning. Mimic has this really obvious issue in his shape shifting that Whisper is fully aware of. Removing the gloves should have been plan A as this is solid prove that Duo isn't how he claims to be. The story just glosses over this because if it wouldn't would the infiltrator story line end right here so instead to the characters act stupid to prolong the story. On that note was it already weird that nether were willing to point out to Lanolin why there were suspicion (the contradiction that invalidates Duo's own remarks leaving Silvers (who is already generally more trustworthy due to his history) statement that Duo left him for dead as the only sensible standing as well as Whisper recording to Duo purposefully tripping Silver to make the rocks fall both of which combined should be more than enough reason to have Lanolin move aside and let Whisper do her testing on Duo (who even if he wasn't Mimic should still get fired for the 2 actions he did in issue 63 anyway))

Silver didn't just catch Duo with his powers when he fell despite clearly stating earlier in the same issue that its totally something he could. Both Silver and Whisper can't even understand the idea of pretending to be hurt to keep up the disguise game. Everyone just jumps to the worst interpretation of what Silver and Duo were up too with no one not even Tangle or Jewel who got no context for anything do so much as ASK what happened. And despite Whisper openly admitting that she riled up Silver and that her trauma makes her faulty of pushing team mates into doing stupid shit as well as going into a full on fight with Lanolin did only Silver get fired from the Team when Whisper is clearly more at fault for the situation while also in general having a more spotty track record with the Restauration being a longer during Forces rather than ever joining the Resistance and just up and leaving by Trail of Fire. I feel the stupidest part about kicking out Silver is that Whisper got to stay. Say what you want about Silver this issue by Whisper quite literally said he only acted so rash because of her guidance. And while Silver arguably did hurt Duo so did Whisper clearly have no issue with hurting Lanolin given there fight ether. So there is no way under which it makes sense to kick Silver but keep Whisper. At the very least are there equally guilty and at the most is Whisper more so than Silver. (never mind that Silver power wise is a far more valuable asset for the team as well) Don't get me wrong the reason they kicked Silver out was stupid but its so obvious how its juts an excuse to get Silver out of the picture BECAUSE it only hit Silver when logically that if this is enough to kick Silver should it also mean Whisper has to go too.

There is also no reason for Lanolin to have a grudge against Silver (given how Silver was instrumental in saving the world thrice in the comics alone so far as well as being a founding member of the Resistance in Forces are there even quite a few reasons for her to look up to such an experience and brave hero) And her being so anti-Silver last issue was already a massive peace of nonsensical writing there as is as she entirely ignored Duo's contradictory statements (first claiming there was nothing he could have done to Silver only to than claim ones Silver was save that he was trying to find someone to help Silver which renders him as untrustworthy and only leaves us with Silvers claim that he was left for dead and With Silver due to his heroic past being inherently more trustworthy than the new guy should this have gotten Duo booted from the team already last issue on the grounds of being dishonest and willing to let team mates die if trying to save them would risk his own life.) and only blaming Silver for everything else by just assuming the worst of him never asking Silver what exactly happened. But to be fair to Lanolin everyone else was also dumb. Like why is Tangle suddenly against Silver? She has no context on what's going on and is usually always at first taking the side of the party that is being beaten down. Her reaction was certainly out of Character for her. And in general did know one even asked what happened all just assumed the worst of Silver (the big and world saving hero and cornerstone of the Resistance that prevented Eggman from ruling the world forever) yet again. Its all just a bunch of contrived bad writing done to push peaces on the board into the position the writer wanted without taking actually into consideration if any of this actually makes any sense. Same reason why Whisper nether thought about having Silver his his powers to remove Duo's gloves to reveal the suction cups right away.

It started with Silver so she politely asked him to leave. He’s the one to trigger Whisper trauma and vendetta and without the proof he’s the one taking the most blame. Plus Whisper asked him to leave because she felt like he messed things up for him and doesn’t feel like a good teacher.
@rynobehnke8289

@@justynhill4814 But non of this makes sense. Silver was entirely in the right last issue and Whisper know this and even beyond this was it obvious after Mimic as Duo contradicted himself in front of everyone why he left Silver. And it was Whisper that approached Silver at the end of issue 63 specifically because she clearly saw how Duo tripped Silver. It was even Whisper that after Silvers statement that Duo had weird black and white eyes that realizes it was Mimic all along. The fact that all of this is just getting ignored is just insane because its clear cut evidence. Even if Duo isn't mimic does that still show he is hiding a secret from everyone and is lying so still not to be trusted. And Whispers reason to ask Silver to leave is also dumb because guess what Tangle is the exact same ease to influence type that Silver is. If anything should Whisper consider leaving being a bad influence on the team over all.

I understand it, but I can't blame Lanolin too hard for this. From their perspective, it's someone's distrust and paranoia sparking issue with a well known shapeshifter and manipulator behind the scenes. It would make as much sense as if Mimic somehow took over Jewel's image while she was out on a break. What I also wish was that Whisper would ask to see Duo's hands and reveal the suction cups and suddenly Tangle would be on her side a little more. I thought about this from Lanolin's perspective, and it makes a lot of sense. The readers only know it's Mimic because we are shown it. But if we had no clues Duo was mimic, just claims by Silver and Whisper, it would be questionable if even we would believe them. The whole time Duo just ran away. We would think him more a coward then anything. And that's it. Even Duo falling off the chair could be played that he lost his balance, if it weren't for the one panel of him smiling. I think if this has been a "Is Duo Mimic, or an innocent person" mystery, even for readers, it would have been a very, very interesting arc.

@videogollumer Eh, points for points, Lanolin is acting a little out of character. But at the same time, instead of Whisper and Silver asking her to trust them on this from the get-go, they go ahead and do it themselves. They only share the info because they were caught. Lanolin even asked for proof, and they had nothing to show for it. And Silver even said Duo was technically doing nothing the whole time he and Whisper carefully followed him. I'm just saying, looking at it from Silver, Whisper and Lanolin's perspective, it could be easy to think Duo is just a guy who gets scared and runs at the first sign of trouble.

I don't think there's any blame to be placed on Lanolin at all. She's the leader of the Diamond Cutters, she has to look out for new recruits. From her and everyone else's point of view, Whisper is jumping at shadows because of her past trauma, and it's not even like that's a far-fetched conclusion. Whisper previously dealt with the trauma by keeping to herself and pushing others away, she's the type to try to shoulder everything and go it alone so no one else gets hurt, but now that she's part of a group she can't do that, and she can't just go around accusing anyone she finds suspicious of being Mimic in disguise. Ultimately the ends don't justify the means and her actions just make her look like a dangerous vigilante. At first I thought they were revealing Mimic's true identity too early, but this issue actually shows it's the opposite. Whisper would've been the biggest threat to him being found out, but with this stunt, she's got her not only thinking she was wrong, but realising what COULD happen if she jumped to conclusions and hurt someone innocent that she thought was Mimic. Going forward, I can imagine Whisper will be less-likely to spot or act on red flags, afraid that she'll make the same "mistake" as before. Add on to that the upcoming inclusions of Surge and Kit and Mimic's bought himself some good cover.

I think the problem is the reader knows Duo is Mimic from the get go, and the characters are, more or less, forced to act stupidly to make this work the way it happened. Whisper was too rash and normally should've informed Lanolin in private her concerns, but she didn't. Lanolin doesn't know and wasn't given evidence, so her being skeptical is understandable, the problem is she lacks observational skills, this is where her greenness is really coming through. They have the paperwork on all the villains, she's aware of Whispers history. Whether this is an intended flaw or just a contrivance for this one plotline i do not know, but if your traumatized sniper vet is being serious about the dude who had her team murdered, (and tried to murder her, twice) maybe that should be a moment of huh maybe something is awry here I need to consult the whole team, instead she tries to shut it all down. She does feel like she's trying to save face as a leader by looking tough, as if to compensate for her skiddish demeaner she used to have. It's also an optics issue because Lanolin is fresh, she is pretty new to this, while her main skill is being a team coordinator, she does not have the experience of Whisper, Tangle, Silver or even Jewel, so the fact she does not consider for a moment their concerns feels like whoever wrote this arc forgot Lanolin is NOT a veteran, long time leader.

So I haven't commented under the last few videos as despite having thoughts on the issue that were covered couldn't I really put it into words properly. But with this issue its ridiculously clear what to say. Everyone of relevance in the main story this time around was a giant idiot. So lets go over them Silver: Rather easy to explain what's wrong here. He could at any given moment end the story by using his powers to pull off Duo's gloves, revealing the suction cups which Mimic can't morph away and show that he is lying about who he really is. Than is the way Mimic try to save face by falling on purpose something that really shouldn't even have been possible of happening as Silver is fast and strong enough in his abilities to just catch him (like right at the start of the story did Silver try to make Duo fall only for him to catch him showing that Silver could totally do it in this very issue) And finally that Silver after the fall of Duo just loses all of his suspicions about Duo despite him doing the whole "Black and white eyes" thing again right before AND despite the clear contradiction and leaving him to death in the previous issue. Whisper: She acted way to rash. She knows both Silver and Mimics powers so should should have ordered Silver to use his powers to remove the gloves of Duo right away. Yes I get that she due to her trauma has a reason to act to quickly and this isn't the point its how she did go about it as again with Silver on her side could she solve this in 5 minutes tops. Additionally is it just plan stupid of hers to just loss all suspicion towards Duo because he fell as if Mimic master of disguise couldn't stage such a thing to keep up appearances. Beside this is it also questionable why she never thought about presenting her evidence ones Lanolin stepped in. Lanolin: Now we get to a big offender. Lanolin was just beyond stupid. Not only did she never fallow up on the clear contradiction of Duo's statement form the previous issue which even in the best faith interpretation of events would point it him unreliably as he would lie and leave members to die if his own life otherwise would be endangered which should immanently have disqualified him from the Diamond Cutters but she is now even doubling down in despite already having a really good reason to have second thoughts on Duo just standing up for him against Whisper and she and Silver accuse him of being Mimic. And worse yet instead of at least trying to de-escalate the situation or at the very least try to move it to a more private room did she respond to Whispers advances in violence herself trying to getting the situation under control by forcing her will rather than using words and proper arguments first. But wait there is more she for some reason than goes on to state that "Whisper should know better because she like herself is a solider while Silver isn't" which is just totally wrong knowing there backstories. Lanolin was still a civilian during issue 2 Silver meanwhile was a founding Member of the Resistance he was a solider for at least 6 months longer in a global war than Lanolin. He also did a ton of the heavy lifting during Battle for Angle Island and Metal Virus (being literally the one to save the world) and even as recent as the very previous storyline was Silver super reliabler imminently read and was instrumental in getting the situation solved. Whisper meanwhile was a mercenary. But it actually gets even worse knowing what Lanolin by all means as a member of the Restauration and aid of Amy's with paper work during the gap between Battle for Angle Island and Metal Virus should know about Silver is her behavioral towards and evaluation of Silver in general total crap shot. She should know how important Silver was during Forces and at least 3 of the world ending threads of IDW so far. Despite the fact that Silver is known for being really good with his powers and being super reliable and serious when the situation demands it does she time and against just assumes the worst of him while never questioning Duo's questionable statements. This sheep got nothing but wool in her brain I tell you. Now for a special one SILVER GETTING FIRED: So like all about this is just wrong. First of all did Whisper directly admit that Silver rash actions were her fault for getting Silver railed up additionally did Whisper also clearly have no issue with laying her hands on Lanolin if she got in her way. So at bare minimum if Silver gets fired over this so should Whisper (some people try to argue its okay that Whisper did it because of her trauma but its quite the opposite Whisper reaction uncontrollable because of her trauma would make her a general liability and would also be more reason to remove her as well) Additional as I pointed out before has Silver a near spotless track record in the Restauration and Resistance which him and his powers being meanwhile was Whisper for most of Forces a loner that upon learning of MImic's prison break left the Restauration out of fear it would put a target on it by Mimic. So by all means is Silver still the far more reliable person here. But it doesn't even end there on a pure perspective of usefulness for the time of operations the Diamond Cutters team is designed for is Silver infinitely more useful. He is when it comes to raw power far stronger than all other 3 core members combined (literally if he can easily grab and hold Zombot Shadow than aren't Tangle, Whisper and Lanolin breaking free from him) his abilities also have the most possible applications from giving flight to everyone, soundless movement, physics puzzles and if we factor in Rivals even distraction he got it all. And those were just the issue Lanolins arguments for it have. Tangle is just full on out of character. When Belle was faced similar resistance did she imminently pick her side, she is always trying to be optimistic and she lacks context to even properly understand why Silver should get booted. Its entirely out of character for her. And Whispers reasoning has to bases ether as hers "I don't want to mislead you again" could equally be applies to anyone beside maybe Lanolin due to her want to position herself as the boss. So she to protect Tangle and Duo from her own trauma should have voted for herself to get kicked as well (which also would make more sense for her character given her original leaving in Trail by Fire for a similar reason) All of this was such an utterly contrived, character idiot-fying poor attempt to give Mimic an early win by removing Silver as he planed to make him look competent and to strengthen his false identity which it logically really shouldn't have done, to put him into a more powerful position next to Jewel as well as to get Silver back out of the picture as he is just way to OP. Additionally to this also why Mimic was an idiot obviously for showing his real eyes to Silver before his fake fall but also because the fake fall should have been a terrible idea as he now presented the Duo persona as to fragile that he can't handle falling half a meter which should competently disqualify him for a team as dangerous as the Diamond Cutters. So yes the main story was an utter disaster and not at all confidence inspiring into the rest of this story line. The second story is at least better. Sonic being a bit of a jerk, Sonic being nice to his friends in a teasing way, Blaze actually gets to have fun in her life for ones and its all really sweet. I hope when we meet up again with them in Soleana will we this time actually get humans tho. (I sure hope the writers next time doesn't screw over Cream again)

Mimic didn't show his eyes to Silver again. They were shown only to the audience, so we can understand, that he had a plan to fall. Also, the height was a few metrs, not 0.5 m. And, anyway, nobody thought "He fell from a chair and brake an arm, wow, he is so weak!". No, they were watching the wolf/sheep fight, then turned around and thought "OMG, Silver crashed poor Duo to the ground with his full power!"

@@dekardraven963 Well if it something that Silver didn't actually see should they have put more attention to it as no other time before did we ever have Mimic drawn with his eyes like this while it not being something that literally happened. The visuals show him falling from the same pitiful height of the chair so there is no reason why anyone should assume he fell worse at the bare minimum not Silver. And I would expect at least some of the characters in the room (especially ever optimistic Tangle) to not just jump (and in Lanolins case AGAIN) to the worst possible assumption given the extremely long history of reliability and heroism that Silver has in this series that everyone should know about. No one even asked what happened they just casually assume the worst of the worst for no good reason. Its laughable how forced it was. They jump faster on most bad faith look on Silver than the average Twitter user would for pit sake.

@@rynobehnke8289- everyone is complaining and hating on Lanolin because they have the knowledge over Mimic but considering her a idiot because of the reader privilege we have. She’s not being a idiot she’s asking for proof but the more that Whisper start acting hostile she was in the right defend herself and “Duo”. They both rushed this and everyone is trying to say their the heroes with the most experience(which is true) but at the same time it’s like their exempt from and rules that applies to everyone including needing evidence to back up their claims. When it comes to Mimic Whisper gets tunnel vision and is ready for the kill shot but she honestly doesn’t know him as well. The reason she backed off is that she didn’t believe that he would act this long as someone pathetic or risk himself being hurt for his disguise. Mimi just played everyone and it sucks what happened to Silver but to bash on someone who doesn’t know the plot or doesn’t just let heroes do what they want unless it’s justified is not a bad character. Lanolin started as a timid civilian that had to be protected so maybe that’s what she saw in “Duo” like she was before so she defended but still wanted to get to the bottom of things.

These last few arcs have felt a bit lackluster, to be honest.

Dude, i'll say this right now, Envy from FMA can pull this off better. Mostly cause he can change his color. Also this story was really cut short and not really well paced, I felt bad for Silver, and I would've just tore those stupid gloves off

In case your forgot Mimic can also change his colors. He already in the fast took the colors of Tangle, Sonic, Whisper, Jewel and all the former Diamond Cutters alone reaching from Grey over blue and green to Jewels rainbow-y shine. And yes its near inexcusable that taking off the gloves as clear cut prove that he isn't who he claims to be wasn't plan A.

@@dekardraven963 I checked and yes Mimic is even lamer than I thought reusing the shape of Slinger the Ocelot exactly just with his regular colors. Whisper dear how didn't you notice that this Duo fella looks exactly like one of your former now dead team mates?
