I took my 6 year old to see this movie and even she told me the movie wasn’t that good. We enjoyed seeing cool characters but we both felt like something was missing.

The irony to this is when Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends was pitched to cartoon network one of the executives allegedly said "It sounds like a Pixar Movie."

Having a daughter this hit me hard and I wish I could keep that child like personality like John Krasinski character for my kids, so it made me think about my own life and how stressful life as an adult is.

Same here man.. it really resonated with me. Justvwatched the matinee today and im still thinking about it. The lead actor really did a great job in her role. I saw the twist coming but it was still very good and heart warming.. the final scene was the best

This review is by an adult. IF was never made for adults. It is a movie made for kids to watch as kids and help them understand adult topics. It is on par with The Never Ending Story in that sense… My kids loved it.. My wife and I cried a lot… It’s a good movie.

I said multiple times how it would probably work for kids haha I take that into an account in my reviews, for sure. But again, I can’t pick and choose the movies I review just because they’re intended for something else. Gotta review everything! Hope the kids love it!

My 6 year old daughter asked me if this was the right movie. Then asked to go home within an hour of it starting. Never experienced that before. So don't agree with your comment.

Interestingly the Jeremy Jahns review agrees with Austin that it's mid-range and needed a bit more character depth to pay off. But one thing that stood out in his review is that he thinks you need an adult perspective to get what the movie is going for. Kids may or may not enjoy seeing the characters but the themes of growing up wouldn't so much resonate with them.

I cannot relate most of the American movies. But this one make me cry so hard. It’s not a sad feeling. It just makes me believe there’s still hope in human. The nuance buried deep inside each one of us has never left. I give this movie 10/10.

Honestly, I and so many other people needed a rewatch for it to fully click. The first time you watch it’s a strange viewing as the pacing feels off, and it’s much too heavy and a lot to take in. But on second watch… my god, it’s a whole other movie and becomes this brilliant heartfelt fantasy comedy which is quick paced and so fun. It’s up there with wonka in modern fantasy comedies, so honestly you (and anyone else who is unsure on this film) please give it another go!

I had to disagree with you this movie is very good and emotional at times especially at the end of the movie. PS I like that Brad Pitt play Keith in the movie lol.

6/10 for me. There were parts I liked and I can imagine in my head a version of this movie that is good as peak Pixar. Great beginning, great moments. The story is very scattered tho and I wish it fleshed out the drama more with the kid not wanting to be a kid and becoming imaginative again after a loss. And Ryan Reynolds being fleshed out more. I’m really anything. It’s a solid kids film, but I was wanting more

Usually you need a goal or a mission to accomplish to get you interested in a movie.Some kind of suspense really would have helped this film but it's not there.While emotional,the last 20 minutes couldn't save this movie for me.Except for a few good special effects(floor squares flying,the pool scenes,the coming out of a painting)and the dance scene, it's slow moving,boring and lacks energy.

Now we will never get a fosters home for imaginary friends movie because of this… people will think it stole its idea from this and not the other way around. This feels like a Japanese rip off of fosters and no other movie makes my blood boil like this. Simply because of my passion for Fosters

There were some kids in the first screenings and you could hear them saying to their parents "Is it nearly over?" Even THEY expressed boredom and it's a movie made for them.

The subject isn't relatable to kids. It's just a weird kids film where only adults would get it. And we all know in this day and age kids imagination isn't what it once used to be since kids have plenty of gadgets to keep them occupied. It's not when we were kids and you find a rock and imagine it to be something other than a rock 😂

It was definitely a sad movie. None of which you picked up from the trailer. I enjoyed it. My son also liked it a lot. There's also somewhat of a Sixth Sense twist at the end. I agree that this really could have worked better as an 8 or 10 episode series (hour per ep). The pacing was off and a lot of kids in the theater were getting noticeably restless.

Austin check out The Coffee Table. It's about 90 minutes and it will leave you a bit uneasy. No review just watch this film.

Isn't that *walk* similar to the Beatles "Abbey Road" album cover? Also, "Imagine" was a John Lennon song...Not to mention, it says that only "believers" get to 'see' the imaginary friends - just my imagination I guess!

I was SO disappointed with this movie. So boring! No strong story with loose ends. It felt like a drama for animated characters! Too emotional! It should not be labeled as “comedy”! Kids were leaving the theater with their parents cause they were bored! I was bored !! The end is what helped the movie save face! But the rest of the film too dramatic & lacks humor & a strong story. Could not get invested at all !!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO RUNNNNNNNN PARENTS..... The If movie is a child's endangerment TRAP.... 1. Child leaving the house unsupervised at night. ** Grandma or dad had no clue where she was 2. This little girl followed a GROWN ASS MAN in the dark of night. 3. This little girl was in a GROWN MAN'S apartment by herself and her family had no idea where she was. 4. The girl then gets on the bus with this grown man and travels and still no one knows where she is ....All in search of an imaginary energy. *I love Ryan but not this...... ***We strive to warn our children of strangers and kidnappings and this movie will undermine every child protection rearing you have in place. BEWARE......

I might be the only one left on the planet who’s still looking forward to seeing this movie. I’m prepared for some issues and flaws, but this looks to be one of those movies I’ll watch for the vibes and stuff. And I’m also here for another Ryan Reynolds/Bill Hader collaboration, even if Hader’s role is very small. It doesn’t come out here until May 30 though.
