My mother was horrified by the B I got in the 2nd grade and chewed me out for decades. My kids used to think that I was a strict mother, until I invited my mother to come visit. 13 years later, they are still freaked out by her.
@@jck_4283 First morning she screamed at the Mohawks, black nail polish and various colors of hair. Then they wouldn't eat the soup made ad grumbled about kimchi is awful food. Then she rushed to the graded homework and saw a C... All this in the first half hour of my mother. The next week went downhill from there. At least I strategically inserted CDs and taking them for rides on my Harley-Davidson so I got in lots of trouble as well. Nevermind that I was in my 40s. Get the picture????
I remember when I told my father I had left my tenure track position at Johns Hopkins to break into the pharmaceutical industry. He spent 2 hours having a mental breakdown trying to figure where he went wrong raising me while berating me, mind you, I was in my mid 30s and already married at this point (to a white woman which only acceptable because in his own words, at least she is a "real" doctor unlike you.) I'm convinced he would have disowned me if he had known I was in an open relationship (and later open marriage) and pansexual nonbinary with male, female and trans partners.
Josh, I taught English as a Second Language to Korean Junior High kids for almost 30 years. Of course, I learned a lot about Korean culture, issues, likes, dislikes....anyway, you always nail it right on the head. Your talent floors me as many of my Korean kids' talent gave me great joy. I wish you great happiness and success. You bring me joy and laughter every day. God, you are so talented!!!! Way to go!

I’m a high school teacher and my top History class is full of kids from Asian backgrounds, and one of my guilty treats for them at the end of the lesson is to watch these fantastic videos. They laugh like mad because they understand. This is their lives!
I'm not of Asian descent, I'm Hispanic & Hispanic parents are like this but in a very different way... Like not about grades, school & stuff just like nothing is ever good enough type treatment so I would have loved if when I was in high school I saw these types of videos. I think a lot of different backgrounds can relate to the feeling of being a disappointment, so that's so great that you show these videos to let them have some fun at the end of the lesson!
@@juniorcarrasco3080 do you ever feel like you're stuck between the American lifestyle and culture and Latino culture? I'm 33 now, but growing up I was very conflicted between what my parents thought was acceptable for a teen to do and what my friends thought & and what I saw all my peers doing around me. I always felt like my parents were disappointed in me and I was just doing what all the other young people were doing at the time. To my parents some of the things that were totally normal for an American teen to do were unacceptable to them, and on the other hand things that my peers would get in trouble for like drinking a little alcohol was totally normal in my home. It was pretty confusing growing up, but now that I'm past the tough teen years I'm very proud of my Latino culture!

Jamaican father here, it works for us as well. My son had a B on his interim report hard and didn’t hear the end of it until the grade went up to an A. No games being played. You can have your dreams when my grand children are in college.
Asian mom dissing Karen??? Ooh...man, it would have to be ENTIRELY around mocking how she raises her kids, in contrast, but... I'm not sure that you can actually prove that "Karen's sons" don't make a lot of money. They don't become doctors...they become finance bros.
