I was born and raised in Japan. Let me fix that title for you. "Asians DO say the stuff white people say". They just say it in a different language.

When I was in elementary school, my brother and I were the only non-whites in the entire school. I remember one of my friends would make her eyes go small, but I never really got offended by that. I just laughed at her, telling her she looked ridiculous doing that. Another time, when I was in fourth grade, a boy in my class asked me why my face was flat. He had asked if it was because I ran into a wall or something. I can't remember what my exact response was, but I think I said something along the lines of, "Yes. I was running and someone forgot to hold the door open for me. So I ended up running into the door and now my face is flat like a pancake..." And it's weird, because years later, in high school, I was talking to one of my classmates while walking down the hallway and as soon as the bell rang, one of the classroom doors swung open and slammed right into me. The boy that opened it felt so horrible, but me and my classmate were just laughing our heads off. Another time, when I was out of high school, I haven't ridden a bike for so many years. My mom tried to have me ride her bike, which was way too high for me. I couldn't touch the ground. And when I tried taking her advice on what to do, the bike tipped over and I face planted on cement. My entire face got messed up and some skin had peeled off and I was bleeding everywhere. My mom was freaking out and I kept trying to reassure her I was just fine. She was like, "No you're not!"

Someone: “Omg I LOVE Asian food!” Me: “I know right?! We make the best food!” Them: “No! I said ASIAN! You’re Indian!” Me” 😐🤡

I think being able to laugh about our differences is a good thing when it's not done in hate. It also takes the sting out of it when somebody really does come from a place of hate. I came here just to read the butthurt comments. I grew up in a mostly chinese/korean neighborhood and I used to hear this shit alll the time with my friends. And of course white people are going to dismiss it and act like it's non offensive or even annoying and they're just 'curious', but you have no idea how many times people get asked that question. The "where are you REALLY from" thing is very very popular and it can actually be pretty touchy depending on who you ask. I knew a fair amount of people who's families escaped from certain countries and the last thing they wanted to discuss was their country. I think it's really hard to understand this when you aren't an asian person who's culture is constantly fetishized by other people. I also saw my asian female friends get hit on by white guys who were looking for submissive girlfriends and I always thought that was hilarious because my friends (especially the ABC ones) were literally the opposite of that. Kinda sad/interesting how i keep seeing asian people commenting on here telling people how offensive some things can be and white people rebut with their experience in Japan or Korea. Um, being an foreigner in an asian country (especially when asian countires tend to be a lot less diverse) is not the same as being BORN in America and being an American citizen and only knowing what it's like to live in American and still get asked things like "where are you REALLY from".

I have Asian friends who have literally done almost all of these things to me, and it was hilarious every time.

Fun fact, in a lot of asian countries, they cannot tell white people apart either, even people with different color hair. In Korea many people could not tell me apart from my brother, who is taller AND with different hair. Really, looks little like me. Made zero difference. In any country, if you are a minority in that country, people say this kind of stuff to you. Because they are ignorant, but that is not evil, just a fact because they have no experience with you.

As a person coming from a country with less than 0.03 percent people with body odour..., I always wondered as a teenager why classmates were rubbing something under their armpits..., well eventually I learned what deodorants do but I never knew what this scent really is..., until I ended up in the metro on one hot summer day in the EU..... ugh

Umm, I grew up in a mostly Japanese community in the L.A. area, there were a good percentage of Caucasian and Hispanics there too, but the city had a lot of Japanese influence there like restaurants, shops, a few local Japanese and American grocery stores. I never heard any of my white friends while in school or just hanging out, ask my Japanese-American friends, personal questions or questions about their family culture. And they never asked me about me being Mexican-American. I also had a few different jobs around L.A. and there was a big mixture of different cultures I worked with, and not one person who was white, acted racist, asked someone who wasn’t white, personal questions or made assumptions in how a person is or how they grew up. Maybe because L.A. is very mixed in culture since, well a very long time. I’ve had other Mexican friends or acquaintances ask me personal questions, “how come you’re not Catholic”? I grew up going to a Methodist church and most of my family isn’t Catholic. Shocker! Lol.. “You don’t speak Spanish”?! Then hearing a Mexican tell me, “You’re parents failed you”. Me: Umm, no.. We’re Americans, you’re American but you were led to believe only Hispanics, Latinos and Latinas, (I won’t add “latinx” because that’s just another unnecessary made up word by the libbers, so no apologies from me! lol).. anyone from Central and South America, are Catholic and speak Spanish.. That’s another stereotypical myth. Some of the Japanese, Chinese, Korean-American kids I went to school with, weren’t so perfect. Lol.. a lot of them loved my mom’s cooking, spaghetti, baked chicken and then tacos lol.
