If a leader sits with his partner at a table (therefore together), I either smile or nod to his partner before or after cabeceo/tanda to show her respect. A lot of time the follower would smile and nod back. It creates a sense of harmony by acknowledging each other. It reduces jealousy and therefore better community/dance atmosphere! Also this is my favorite episode so far!
I really enjoyed this episode! I enjoy embodying a lot of what you shared and I can feel the change in quality of the man’s embrace and dance when I do. I find it respectful (and kinda sexy) when the men have a small acknowledgment/ask between each other. I hope you guys come to Melbourne Australia sometime or when I’m over in the US, I’d so love to have a dance with you! Keep up with these great videos - I love the honesty, humour and the topics that you bring light to!
Melbourne sounds amazing to visit. Definitely on the list of places I would love to travel and to see the social scene over there. Thanks for the support
Great talk guys. It's nice to hear your stories as strong male leads, while being sensitive and honest with a tint of humor. There are certain things that followers do without compromise in order to meet the demand of a confident leader on the dancefloor.
Well, well, well… It’s so nice to know I am doing something right… 😅 😄☺️🙌🏻 Love your podcast, guys. You’re such a dynamic duo! Keep doing what you love to do. Tango community appreciates you! 🫶🏻❤
It happens. I have ladies that will just hug you so tight you can barely walk, so you can forget about doing figures. In those instances I just let it be, maybe she doesn't want to do any figures and just want to feel the embrace. Sometimes they do. I appreciate their trust and for allowing me to work with the close embrace. And tbh that's better than the ladies that keeps pushing you out.
Maybe that should be the next thing. like how's there encuentro's for people who want the old school codigos in place. We need a marathon for oscillators. Guess it's time to put together a Left Foot Right Foot Oscillator Invitational.
green flag: followers who have at least dabbled a bit in leading. They don’t have to be leaders or dual role dancers, but at least put some effort into learning trying the other role. Most if not all advanced followers who are actually active during a dance and not just a skilled puppet have dabbled in leading too.
Yes there is a distinct difference between active and inactive. Def agree that the active state is in more of the higher levels of tango as it requires more nuance and sensitivity which is amazing to capture
The game is referring to the intrigue or mystique of a person who you can’t tell if they are interested or not. “Interested” is not referring to just attraction but plays a part
32:20 I do have met people who brag about how many years they have dancing. And it almost always work against them. And that is specially true for the leader. When you see him dancing later on, suddenly you don't feel so bad about yourself! But I've also encountered the opposite, people who like to cut down the number of years they have, so to have an excuse of why they don't dance as much as they should, I see this more with followers.
Wow, didn't know that's a thing. I only hear people talk about dancing 20 + years. Sometime I have to do the math when somebody asks me how long I've been dancing.
