I just started making videos last week. I have been gifted with so many physical and nontangible items that have allowed me the opportunity to create. For the first three months, I am just going to focus on making good videos and nothing else. If I think about all of the things I need to I get overwhelmed and discouraged. My goal is to get three weeks worth of videos before I start posting to youtube/tiktok. Sometimes it feels like a waste of time because everything takes me FOREVER. Then I just remind myself that I am learning new skills that will take me to that next part of my life journey.....whatever that is.
I literally just started my channel over 10 weeks ago, and decided this week to delete the youtube studio app because I was checking it every day. I guess it’s kinda normal in the beginning, you’re curious about what’s happening, but I sensed I was not dealing with it in a healthy way. It was my way of not letting youtube decide my worth (because I’m quite sensitive to that), so thank you for your videos, they are really reassuring
I deleted mine too. Nothing feels worse than making a video you love and it ends up being a 10/10. At the end of the day, I'm making videos my way and doing the best I can at times and it either grows or it doesn't but since I'm documenting my life I refuse to create videos about creating videos (not to offend those who are in that exact niche of teaching that). I live where I live (a small mexican town) I am who I am (a middled aged retired surfer) and life is what it is. Niche up, niche down, keyword this and that when you can but at the end of the day the videos that people love find an audience and a community builds. best of luck to you wawa :)
@@ShauninParadise indeed, just hoping that the right people find my videos, because I know they are not everyone's cup of tea. It's good to stick to the things you like, that is my motivation too. Best luck to you too, it's nice reading everyone else's experiences :)
Thank you so much for the tips. I finally got monetized and I guess what I'm working on now is not being obsessed with the subscriber count. I truly believe that after that 1,000k mark..after that it doesn't matter.Get to 1k and 4,000 watch hours. Your videos should be trying to reach views the subscribers will come after that. I think in the beginning it's slow and feels like you're not growing as quickly as you should. I actually appreciate that the RU-vid studio app allows you to see what your CURRENT subscribers are searching for and their interests. Good luck everyone !! Your audience is out there just keep posting !!
great tips!! i have one channel with 14K that is 3+ years old, but just started this channel 3 weeks ago and am already almost at 4K. I’m really trying to put into practice things I would’ve changed on my main channel by starting over.
Excellent advice. Especially the side note at 5:35. This is under looked and has been the biggest pain for me the last 2 years. One viral video, that I never doubled down on, and has always made it difficult to steer away in other directions because the audience from that video want more of the same. Great video Katie, always enjoy your perspective
Why I love your channel is because you have strategies that are realistic I feel like lots of advice videos are click bait and dont really adress the average youtuber. They focus on going viral which is truly unlikely and not the norm. I've had a YT for over 10 years only 1k subs recently and I always felt like I could never keep up with YT trends and numbers etc. I just want to make videos I like and other people like me want to watch. I have spent 2 years cranking out 1 video per week trying to follow that consistency advice but hadn't really worked for me (PS I'm a mom of 2 work full time - it's hard to find time to create so I do what i can 😅) But I like this approach of getting on the homepage. I'm going to try to slow down production too and make more quality videos! Here's to 2023! Thanks for making great videos - best of luck to you and business this year!
Thank you for your candid encouragement, Katie! You make me feel seen. I started my channel in the beginning of 2020, had a few periods of inconsistent posting but I'm trying to get back to a regular schedule. I still have very little views and feel discouraged because I know my content is good and helps people. But I am super grateful for the amazing friends I've made, so I will keep persevering. I am focusing on nurturing my little community and growing at my pace 💞
These are great tips! Thank you, Katie. My channel isn't brand new but I've been working on it more lately and trying to grow so now I'm really thinking about these tips to help me refine my current strategy. I appreciate you and your videos! Also good luck w the travel vlogs! 💗
I'm a new creator (only about a month in!) and I REALLY appreciate your videos! They're so helpful and get me excited to keep creating and confident enough to believe in my dreams. Thank you! 💖
Thanks for this video. I really appreciate the distinction you made between targeting search vs the home page, especially considering the type of channel -- whether a pre-existing business or simply for content creation. Thanks for sharing your experience and reflections.
Yess to all of this!! I alway call myself an "anti perfectionist" too and my motto is also done is better than perfect...because of this my video quality definitely is not always the best so a goal of mine is to slow down and take more time on each video instead of rushing through it and saying its good enough. Thank you for all your videos!! Loving all your topics lately 😍
I love these tips Katie. I can relate to getting disheartened when you get great views for a while and then it goes back down again. I recently has a video that got really high views for me (50k+) and a few more videos after that got good views, and then they went back to normal. I'm trying not to chase that '1 out of 10' in the creator studio and attach my worth to it. BTW, do you have a video about making thumbnails? I'm trying to improve my CTR this year, starting with better thumbnails.
I appreciate you so much, Katie. Thank you for being honest about your journey and giving us practical advice that we can implement. You're one of my favs!
It's essential to have compelling titles and thumbnails that draw people in, and to make sure the videos themselves are high quality and engaging. Good one ✌️
As always, I appreciate your candid and thoughtful information. One of my videos has done really well - and I know in part is because of the guidance I have received from you. Thank you for sharing your experiences here! Sincerely ~ J
thank you for sharing this valuable advice! definitely trying to implement these tips! I would love to see some more insights into how you manage your time with travelling also as that is definitely something I'd like to do myself
Thank you so much for your honest heartfelt advice. I found this very helpful... especially the don't take it so personally and base your self worth off the RU-vid numbers thank you. ❤️
You are a survivor! I read somewhere that the average lifespan of a youtuber is about 7 years, then they move on to other things, or burnout or both. So you have survived approximately 2.5 generations of content creators! You are a youtube Sage! go with it!!!
I’m also an anti-perfectionist, its interesting because I am just starting to focus on quality over quantity and I’m more excited about YouRube than ever.
Have you ever had any trouble with people harassing you in the street/stalkers? I'd love to set up a channel but the thought of this freaks me out. I know it's highly unlikely that would happen for a VERY long time, if at all, but it still freaks me out!
honestly, no! in the three years that I've had an audience on youtube, I've been recognized 2 or 3 times at the most. and only when i've been travelling lol. i think you'd need to have millions of subscribers before you'd start running into that 😅
Im using the mobile app and it doesnt breakdown the traffic into "homepage" just "browse". So it will be helpful if YT would breakdown that further into "homepage" for the mobile app. Btw are you losing weight? 🤔
Great video! How do you know if your videos are showing up in the home page? What does that look like analytics in the youtube studio? Mine doesn't show any viewers coming from the homepage, but rather "browse features" does that include the homepage?
i just started taking my channel very seriously and one thing i cannot figure out for the life of me is my camera ! i have a new iphone , ring light , i wait for natural light , all those tips i do! but i still don’t really look like me when i watch the videos? and it still doesn’t look clear and as neat as other youtube videos ? i’ve even gone into my settings and changed the video settings so it videos in high res 🥲
it might just be a matter of getting used to seeing yourself on camera (we're all so used to seeing our faces mirrored because of mirrors and selfie cameras, so that slight difference can sometimes catch us off guard) but i'm curious - what camera are you using?
@@katie i’m using an iphone 13 pro ! i am using the front cam tho , bc i just cannot figure out how to make sure i stay in frame if i use the back camera
Amazing video and thank you for breaking it down!! Despite the economic downturn, I'm so happy 😊I have been earning $ 60,000 returns from my $7,000 investment every 12days.
That's awesome. I dealt with crypto last year on Robinhood, tried some index but didn't take it out so I lost it by the end. Any consistent strategies?
I got Benito's recommendations in December 2021 and started following her lead and made $23,450 in a week. Lost my job in January 2022 and right now I'm back on top again and ready to go with her guidance.
@@brittanynatalie1577 Hey, I invested largely on stock market last year, tried some index but my experience doesn't pay me. I have lost so much trading by myself Please is there any handle or link can get to her?
Amazing!!! found Mrs Benito Revilla 2 months ago here also!!! This is so validating hearing you also got her recommendations!!! Yes cheers to be part of her coaching program.
