I’m 34 and I’d like to start content creation “influencer” type but I’m scared to be too old for that so my mind is telling me to choose the entrepreneur type but I don’t think it suits me so I didn’t start nothing yet for this 😭

I was honestly making content for the last year to make sales. I made sales alright. But I burnt out and I hated it. I loved it in the beginning because I was passionate about it, but I eventually came to hate it. I came to dread making content just for the sake of sales. And i love making content. I love filming, editing, photography, I grew up in front of the camera and behind one (true story). I find that I like to make content to inspire and if people buy stuff with my affiliate links or the digital products I have, along the way, cool! But I really want to share a portion of my life that i don't really get to see here on RU-vid.

Hi Katie, I'm also Kati. I just want you to know that I've left a two year video/audio podcast that I started from the ground-up and had to end after things with me and my co-host went south. It's been a painful process, but you've really helped me re-kindle the fire that is still in my heart to create content. I thought that 2 year podcast was gunna be my big break, but it fell apart after working so hard on it for so long, and that has left me feeling so crushed & wanting to just throw in the towel. This is the most helpful video I’ve watched when it comes to starting as a RU-vidr. Thank you for distinguishing between influencer vs online business owner. That was a huge stumbling block for me and it feels good to identify that I actually want to be an influencer creator, not a full time marketer with no products to sell haha

Thank you for this video! A lot of people in your niche focus on the people in the "means to an end" group. It was refreshing to hear something new and useful. Currently, I have a lifestyle blog and I am starting a RU-vid. I haven't had luck with timely platforms but I might have to try my hand at TikTok. It’s all about the audience. Give them content they didn’t know they needed, or even that they already know they need! Figure out your audience and what they’re looking for and build your content strategy around them.

very useful Katie! as a musician so far i always kept youtube as a secondary portfolio resource when i needed to show what i do to bands, promoters, music schools etc. I am now working on a digital product (guitar lessons) but i think i need to build up a stronger audience if i want to attract customers so i feel like i'm between the two type of people you described: business owner and content creator. So my plan is to start making free content for my current audience on instagram and see if that works, then progressively let them know that i have something more for those interested and take it from there. My 2 cents on this. I'm so tired of these "Launch your channel" videos. I've tried to do that. The problem is I do not know how to edit videos. I've taught myself a little but even trying to figure out a small thing sometimes takes hours, and that's just one thing. And also, "doesn't matter if you just use your phone" I hate hearing that to. I have a cheap android phone. I created a video, it took me 2 weeks to try and learn simple editing so I hired someone If I wanted to post weekly it would cost over 400 per month, so I gave up Even video editing for beginners videos is a joke The creator of all those kinds of videos assumes you have some knowledge so they begin on step 20, instead of step 1 I have been unsubscribed from all " launch your channel" content creators It's frustrating

the truth is it all takes time! how to videos can be helpful but the way I learned how to edit videos is just by trying and practising and being frustrated but doing it anyway! there's no simple solution, it's just hard work and trying new things 🙏🏻

@@katie here's another eye opener. I ran an ad to hire someone to teach me editing. The only replies I got were from a few people who said they could try and figure out how to edit and teach me I live in a fairly large county, the largest in my State and after the ad ran a month, nobody answered it so I didn't renew it I also placed ads at a college, no answers to the ad. The fact is not many people know how to do it. And I offered 20 an hour! So it wasn't the pay I searched for video editing classes near me Only one class in the State of Michigan was available and it was an hour and a half away. Unless I went to a university and and joined a degree program that's the only classes available So this is an eye opener to you. By the way I hired the high school art teacher. Can you make another video on burnout for high achievers and for people who are very low energy and low mental energy? I have a chronic illness and I’ve really not been well this year. I had to give up work in February. Over the last few years I’ve had a hobby business selling my art so now I’m looking at setting up as a full on business and selling properly. I already have Instagram + Facebook.
