Read books guys ! I was never a fan of books, so I was looking for something short like Fast Track to Fortune by Nathan West. It literally changed my view on money and work. Now, I'm reading book after book, and I can't stop learning! Psychology of Money is also amazing if you have a bit more time
There is bound to be some sort of repetition and that is inevitable and it is also good because I like to hear things repeatedly in a variety of contexts to aid my learning….
Honestly, everytime I thought about starting a RU-vid Channel, you've dropped either on the same day or the same week a video about RU-vid. It is not a coincidence anymore and I am tired of thinking... Time to start my journey. Thank you Ali
You’re the reason I started RU-vid Ali! 6 months in with almost 500 subscribers - slow & steady, learning and growing with every video! Your tips are the absolute best & I hope one day to take your PYTA course to level up. Thank you thank you for all the help & insight, you’re the best! All my support ❤❤
You are my go-to for RU-vid tips and the biggest reason my little channel exists. It's been a dream for over 15 years to just make content and out it out there but I've kept putting it off thinking I'd never be good enough to make anything worth watching. Thank you for giving me reason to believe in myself enough to just go for it.
Well, after watching over 100.000 RU-vid videos and really contemplating if I have anything of value to say this video really pushed me to try and start, so I posted my first video talking exactly on how to find value in watching a lot of RU-vid. Full circle, I know 😂😂 The thing that I love here is that you are always realistic with the results. A lot of times when I watch other people they are always like how to get 100k views on first video, get monetized in 3 days, and so on... It is a journey, but If you find out that you love the process than, what is there to lose ?? I certainly find it extremely satisfying and fun to try and create good videos with ton of value.
It is a process. Just focus on daily incremental progress for the videos in however time you have. 2 hours per day, 1 hour, 5 minutes... Just focus on creating in that time.
In my case I started as a way to make money but I stayed for the process and now that I understand how it all works it's just so much more satisfying to create content then before. For example I noticed that most creators this year focus on editing their videos with a lot of transition's, B-roll footage, images, music, etc... And all to make their videos easier to watch and understand. So basically trying to keep viewers from getting bored 🥱 and skipping your videos. Even this video if you watch it from that angle you can see that he is mixing talking head scenes with images, and B-roll shots..... It's very interesting to me!
I was just doing one video a week for several months around After Effects tutorials. Over a period a time, I found that my output goal took precedence to where I felt that my tutorials weren't as strong as they once were. The lesson I learned from this is to identify a niche and work on that specifically to grow. I had a handful of videos do well over Vox-style editing. My focus going forward will most likely be in that realm since my other tutorials around different editing styles weren't as impactful.
Thank you, Ali. You are one of the reasons I started my RU-vid channel💜 and this video really helped me set a vision. I will work consistently toward the goal✨️
Been sitting around for years to start my RU-vid channel & finally said "you know what, just freaken do it" I'm never gunna be FULLY ready but I'm excited to learn as I go 🤩 Thank you for your encouraging videos Ali!
Can't believe I finally started my channel, to share things I love: my PhD studying life, fitness & workout, and also healthy diet. Good luck to everyone who has also started their channel!
Thanks so much, Ali. This video came at the perfect time for me. I'm about to start my final year of medical school, where I'll be doing my social service, and I wanted to hear from someone who's managed to balance their RU-vid channel and work. I create RU-vid videos about physiology, and what you said really resonated with me. When I started on RU-vid, I never thought I could make money doing what I love-teaching. I just knew my way of explaining things with animated illustrations could help a lot of people, and it shouldn't just sit on my computer or be seen by only a few at my school. I believed in myself and my talent, and I went for it. It's amazing to see that RU-vid rewards you for that
You released this video very timely! I started my own channel, and the work began to dramatically strengthen its presence. I'm tired, I'm going to shoot a new video and here's your gift). Thank you very much! 🙏
Thanks for this video Ali! I resonate in the “Starting a YT channel even if it will never pay money”. I recently started a YT channel as a funny way to capture memories with my cat. Every new subscriber brings joy even thought I know the channel will never monetize. 😊
I stopped producing RU-vid videos after my son was born. I did find time besides my fulltime job by treating RU-vid as a normal hobby. People find time to go to the gym or play video games. So just use this time for RU-vid. Having a child makes this process a lot harder. I just can't do it anymore without dismissing other hobbies I have to relax. What I've learned doing my videos, I hate the filming part the most. Mostly because I didn't have fixed setup and had to set up lights, cameras, tune in the settings and everything from scratch every single time. Editing and scripting was a lot of fun and I miss this part. But the actual filming act was never fun. My advide, find a way to have "ready to go" setup to record your videos. Making the barrier to start recording as small as possible is key to stay motivated. At least that's how I see it.
Starting new channel can be really tough if you don't plan everything ahead. I knew I couldn't afford to waste months trying to get noticed by just a handful of people. Instead of spending months to get few hundred subscribers, I found how to get organic growth immediately (by using a bit of Fame-ster of course). Ever since I started using this tool, my channel blew up and I realized that people tend to focus on numbers when searching for content. Having a low subscriber count often means being overlooked, even if your content is top-notch...
Interesting! I started RU-vid last year and have reached nearly 50K. But this August want to take it more seriously! Travel vlogs, business interviews and tech trends talking - it’s a difficult one figuring out the scheduling and editing for sure … but many videos have said to stay yourself and enjoy the process!
This video effectively dismantles the idea of RU-vid as a guaranteed path to passive income, instead advocating for intrinsic motivation and a realistic, time-efficient approach to content creation.
Hope all the new creators get to 1000 subs as soon as possible ! I never thought I would even get this far and now I’m almost there ! Don’t give up guys
I'm also a healthcare practitioner, working full time on the NHS while trying to "jump start" my channel and it's hard, but not inpossible. I guess the name of the game is: consistency, good content and time. But it's nice to see that's possible if you commit yourself, even when juggling a full time job.
I have been contemplating to pen down my process of streamlining RU-vid videos but wasn't actively working on it, and then THIS VIDEO came up on my homepage which has actually done my work for me. Thanks for this.
This video is GOLD! Thank you so much, Ali, for the much muchhhhh needed advice and for literally breaking down the hours for so many of us who just can't seem to understand how to this RU-vid thing, despite quite desperately wanted to do it.
VERY encouraging! I’ve slacked with my channel as I felt overwhelmed with what “people” suggested for me. I lost my love for it and got overwhelmed. I make videos because I love the camera and I love teaching. This is the reminder I needed to get back at it! Almost at 1000 subscribers. I can be in the 2.5% soon! 😜
tbh this is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a while! I’m always searching for videos like this, to have an idea how to really manage yt while working fulltime. great vid!
I started following Ali last year because I came across a video of him talking about starting a website. I was kinda lost at that time, and i was trying to find something that I can look forward to in doing and so i decided that I wanted to write (blogging) and start my own website. I started to post on Quora instead since it is one of the platforms that Ali recommended lol along with Medium and others. My 3rd post on that platform went viral and that gave me a realization that if I can make something go viral then what if I try my luck with youtube? I created my RU-vid channel in January this year and started posting videos. It wasn't until the second half of the year that I began to see (I guess) some traction on my channel. Thank you so much Ali for your videos. You are such a gem and I always look forward to your videos because I learn so much from you and love your voice too! Keep helping others because I know you will continue to touch many lives with your work. :))
I work 11 hours at my corporate job each day while trying to grow a RU-vid channel. I share your experience that editing is the most time consuming part but so far I'm hesitant to outsource my editing. You've inspired my to give it a try. Thanks Ali.
I launched my RU-vid channel this year while working a full-time job. It's challenging, but having a solid system truly makes a difference! Very nice video 💪
Thank you for this video. I have been trying for 6 years, and it has been a journey. my biggest challenge has been finding a niche, and so I think if you can find the niche, you are already on the path. This process is the next step. some people are good at finding a niche I for some reason want to talk to everyone.
Another RU-vidr with a full-time day job here! I'm probably not your target audience since I have a slow, not-focused-on-productivity approach to creative stuff, but this was an interesting watch (first video of yours that I've seen, funnily enough). The one thing that irks me is the idea of outsourcing one's editing as soon as possible - editing is my favourite part of creating a RU-vid video, I'd never give it away! The most rewarding thing about my journey as a RU-vidr (my channel has been up for more than five years now) is seeing how much I've improved and continue to improve with my editing, so I like to spend all the time I need on it while making videos. Then again I have that luxury since RU-vid is a hobby for me, I don't need to make money from it and my sense of accomplishment and self-worth are not tied to how well my videos are doing. (also wow, you talk fast - a medical doctor thing maybe?)
I like this video a lot. Tons of information, one thing I particularly like is that you just don’t give general advice, but try to do as if you were starting and go through the whole thought process out loud. That was great
I love this video - I watched so many of your RU-vid Videos and it really helped and inspired m to start my own channel. Im a 23 Year Old Interior Design Student and decided to start a YT Channel on explaining why and how great Interior Designs work and break them down for others. xx Jane
Thanks a lot Ali for this video! I'm a video-podcaster also having a RU-vid channel and at the same time working full time. I've done this same explanation you did in the video multiple times when people ask me how I deal with having a full time job and still create regular content. The most common question is always is if I have hobbies at all or a life besides podcasting and working😂 Which I absolutely do, I play Futsal, do Improv theatre, go out with friends, have a girlfriend... But I also have ambition, enjoy doing this and most importantly I have processes and consistency in place which allows me to not lose my mind 🧠
Embarrassingly, I've been thinking about starting a YT channel for over 5 years now, and I keep putting it off. I've watched so many videos like this (including multiples of yours) and purchased the PTYA course. I'm starting to really internalize these lessons which I've seen over and over, and it makes the idea of actually starting less daunting. I feel silly for having squandered several years where I had lots of time to put into making videos. I'm about to start law school, so the timing isn't as ideal, but better now than waiting another 5 years. Thanks for continuing to make these videos with valuable, straight-forward lessons for getting started, especially as a busy person.
Não precisa esperar para começar, muita gente acharia interessante vlogs do seu cotidiano na faculdade de Direito. Eu também adiei por anos a idéia de ter um canal, mas decidi que esse ano seria o ano!
25:13 Yes, I will still do it even though I would never make money from it. I started my channel as many, to make money, but after almost 2 years now and getting over 600 subs (I was not consistent in posting)... the comments from viewers, in many cases thanking me for the videos, sharing their experiences... it is just so nice feeling that at this point I want to keep doing this even if doesn't make money at all. RU-vid is beautiful, really changes your life, for good.
This is so helpful. I work full time 10p-6a, homeschool full time and can spend 1 hour a day to get started. I’m so drained doing two things full time.
Thanks Ali. To be honest, I finish the financial free video first then coming here haha. Again, appreciate all your efforts and videos, and I just finish the FASTLANE book this week. I know that deep in my heart, I will start my business sooner or later. That gave a very clear guidelines where to get started. I'm planning to open a YT channel and film most of the process on how I build my business, from ground to hopefully millions. I'm not planning to make any money out of the channel. No matter my business success or not, I hope it can help people who want to start and get a real idea how it will be. The channel will also be my documentary for my 1 year old. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and all the best!
Great video! I learned a lot from this video. The main idea is to do something you’re truly passionate about. I saw a video of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates together answering questions from other people, and someone brought something along the lines of if being passionate about a business is important. And Steve Jobs answered whatever it is that you’re wanting to make a business out of it, you absolutely have to be passionate about it. If you’re not, you’ll eventually quit. You’ll eventually burn out and your body will give up.
He should (I'm my opinion) start with showing most interesting / important case studies of the cases he deals in a week. He may take a few pictures of the cases and randomly then and there records his emotions or points . This way he can produce original content and we all love originality at the end. It will also unburden him in terms of sitting down and finding stories. That's what came to my mind and compelled me to write here.
You are an inspiration Ali! You are honest, you are hardworking, you love sharing knowledge and you are a great story teller. In the see of shady influencers spreading lies to make money, you have hold on to being your authentic self. Best of luck and keep inspiring millions of people like me who believe that an honest approach to sharing knowledge can still succeed against all the shady ones out there. In case I succeed in this genuine influencer journey ever, will definitely meet you in person someday to thank you. If I failed, at least I tried 😎
i don't know why Ali's video just showed up in my feed but i needed this insight today. I've been putting off starting a channel for several reasons: so many others are so successful, i will never succeed, i don't have the motivation to start it up, etc... but its not about the outcome and the money at first. its about the purpose. the meaning of what i can bring as a source of value to the world. So, thanks Ali :)
Even though my content is quite different from the Hanil example, I found the time planning tips interesting and helpful for my own approach. Great video, thank you!
I really enjoy your content and clear delivery; helps my overwhelmed brain mush 😅 I want to be more efficient and consisent with my uploads but my videos take 1-2 days to film, as I'm hiking or camping, and use all my energy 😂 Choose your niche, I know 😅 Editing is also an integral part of the storytelling process for me. Still, always helpful to see how you breakdown the process and look for ways to improve productivity. Thanks for your content 🙏
it's very nice to hear from you Ali. I drew a chart and allocated the tasks and the time I had to complete them with an immediate goal of 1 video per week. Let's see what I will have after 3 months. Thank you very much!. I hope one day I can talk to you.
My only concern with this video is that it doesn’t take into consideration the time it takes to onboard an editor, share time stamps, follow up, make sure there’s revisions and the work is done! 😮
I started my channel three years ago, but I haven't seen impressive results because of my full-time job. Finding time has been a huge issue, but thanks to this video, I feel like I've found something that can actually work if I put in the effort. I'm hoping to take the next step and share my results.
@@MissJourdy it’s incredibly hard to achieve that and have proper content at the same time. I’ve been trying the vlaugust (vlog everyday in August) thing … and it’s gruesome! When 8h of the day are spent at the office, there’s little time left to be creative 😞
Really, man you are the reason for my own RU-vid channel ✨. You made me realise how to do Content Creation while studying as a full time student. You are one of the best Content Creators in RU-vid man ❤
This was very useful. I think my current struggle is justifying the cost to hire an editor bc I’m full time student with part time minimum wage job, albeit in a high income city so my wage is higher but that means my cost of living is higher. Anyway, this was useful to look at a more realistic pov of what it takes to start a channel from scratch. I’ve had my channel for nearly 6 years but started posting consistently again. Super useful for time management especially once school starts again. Thanks sm. I totally plan on taking that $1 course😄
Thanks Ali! Also recently started a RU-vid channel. It is great to talk about your interests and learn skills along the way. Hopefully this potentially helps at least one person in the world. Best, Anthonie
Great timing for this video. Was looking for something like this haha. Also, the points and methods shown in this video were insightful, and inspiring and answered a lot of my questions. Thank you for your amazing work as always.
This $1 flow is bad. Watch out before you put your card out there. I put mine and it without consent upgraded me to $895 plan. After raising this to Ali's team, only my YT comments are getting deleted no response on support emails though. Nice - trust built by Ali over last few years destroyed for me in minutes.
Thank you Ali, i started my channel and put a lot of pressure on myself. Your advise that nobody is watching the first 50 videos liberated me. And now im sitting at 5000 subs 😅 You're a legend
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us :) I am getting started on my hiking video venture on YT and this video really inspired me! To all those reading, keep it up!
We’re a small channel started by my wife and me, focused on sharing insights from Leadership and Health experts. We’re deeply grateful for our 31 amazing subscribers who support our dream. Even though growth can be slow and challenging, we stay optimistic and committed to delivering great content. To all new creators-keep pushing forward, team!
Absolutely loved this video, Ali! Your insights on balancing a full-time job with RU-vid are incredibly helpful. I appreciate how you break down the goal-setting process and emphasize the importance of input goals. It's inspiring to see how you grew your channel while managing a demanding career. Excited to check out your 7-day crash course! Keep up the amazing work! 🚀
I like the idea of setting a predetermined amount of hours that you allocate for different steps. I often find myself just spending days on one step and losing sight of the bigger picture. If you give yourself too much time, you will take that time and procrastinate.
Great advice! This is me 100%! I would love to have a one on one meeting with you. I started my channel a month and a half ago for fun, and now I’m really enjoying it! Just need some help from someone like you! Love your content! Thanks!
