The book specifies that she is surprised to see that her breath doesn't release steam despite the cold weather while she is out of her body, but guess that the director didn't care about that detail.

That's not actually her. That's essentially her "spirit". He body is on the ground and they used that tool to get her to breathe.

Kay Foley, my point is that you can see her "spirit" breathing in the movie. The book mentions that her "spirit" form did not release any steam from her mouth. Look at 1:07 and you will see steam coming out of her "spirit"'s mouth.

I was in a car crash once I just remember being shocked and didn’t cry till I got out me and my family were very lucky to survive so watching this just reminds me of how me and my family should really be in the casket and how lucky I am

I had cancer en 2011 and died for 2 or 3 minutes or so. I saw myself floating and getting higher and higher, it was the best feeling of my life. I did not see any light or anything of that sort of, all I remember being in the middle of a crowd saying my name, and all of the sudden I woke up in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) I was so thirsty. I asked for water and the nurse said she couldn't give me any water because I was just out of a surgery, and I started to pull all the wires connected to my body and started kicking; I was so desperate for water. Finally they give me some water, but while I was drinking it, there was this overwhelming feeling almost saying that everything was going to be okay, and the taste of the water it was so amazing that it was like drinking years of life, that is the only way that I can put it. Today I'm 45 years old, and for years I wanted to feel the feeling of flying again and I become a Skydiver ( Ironic ) but it is the closes feeling to it, and skydiving is my passion now. I quit all the sugars and drink water only, and I thanked God for a second chance on this planet. And being honest... it is really hard what side to choose in that moment, but for me it looked like it wasn't my choice it was more like they pushed me back in line, waiting for my turn. This is all true, I don't want to convince no one I just wanted to share my experience. God bless all of you!

That scene reminds me of c.1971 when as a student, early morning in winter darkness, I hitched a lift in thick fog down the M1 in the U.K. The driver who picked me up was driving a gorgeous Alvis TD121. We came across a multiple pile up involving over ninety vehicles which I think was then the biggest road accident in history in this country. I was born clairvoyant and clairaudient and alas, after we tried to assist, I saw several lost spirits completely in a daze, certainly unaware that they had passed over. Hours later we eventually got going but the fog remained thick and we were travelling at maybe 2 m.p.h. Ultimately I got out of the car on the M1 and walked across fields to St. Albans. We had been so very lucky. It felt such a relief to be off the road with grass under my feet! Twelve hours after I had set off on what should have been less than a two hour ride I was again in darkness and facing a long walk. For at least a year afterwards I was made extremely nervous by the noise of traffic - recalling the sound of vehicles slamming into cars behind us after we had fortunately managed to stop without becoming involved. There's less than a second between life and 'death.' Please take care of yourselves drivers. A true story in every respect.

Exactly. I can't believe some idiots believe she's "dead". Or it wouldn't be a story. She was the one who narrated the story first. Her parents were in the front, so they would less likely have survived. And her little brother is fragile and small, he wouldn't lived either. So far, she's in a COMA. Where are their common senses!? But the make up artists or something unprofessional put effort in her to look like she had a bad accident. Are they making us focus on her pretty face? No, that's not the point to make the accident real. It has to be bloody and real. She bled from her back. Her head should be covered in blood, bruises and cuts, the car was frickin upside down. She's wearing inappropriate clothing in the cold winter and her front body is unscathed. How pathetic.

HetaliaFan15 It's a movie. usually movies never meant to make anything looks real. You're overreacting. Even when a movie did show such extent of extreme damage, it most probably poorly edited or it will take a lot of work to actually make up all those fake, real looking cuts and such.

Her physical body is still breathing and alive, but she is in a coma (You can still breath in a coma) but this is her out of body experience. She is technically still alive.

KidReview - You miss interpreted what she said. She’s talking about mias actual body, eveyone in the coments that haven’t watched the film, or didn’t understand it think she’s dead, but as you said she’s just having an out body experience, and what they were trying to explain to those people that don’t understand is that she’s not dead, and her actual body is being taken to a trauma team (meaning she’s not dead) You both have understanding of the film i think you just misunderstood what she was trying to say:)

I love sh!tty editing. Initially, the truck is shown rounding a corner on wet asphalt with virtually no snow covering. Next, during a closeup of the truck's tire, it is show losing traction on a completely snow-covered road. Amazing how the snow appeared in an instant!
