that whole staircase thing had so confused when I was little :P and the whole geese thing. If you're rich why would you want a bunch of animals running around???
up until CATS came along, Fiddler on the Roof was the LONGEST running musical in Broadway. For me it is the BEST MUSICAL ever. The film with Topol was really very good too, but the stage presentation was better.
Tevya must always be a sympathetic character. So the tradition established by Mostel should be continued. So I wondered during his career was Rodney Dangerfield ever offered the role of Tevya? Had I my druthers, I would've made a dramatic casting in the form of Linda Hunt as Teyva. And too bad some biggie didn't tap Peter Tevis as Tevya. Tevis had a mischievous and boy grin that would've carried the character of Tevya. Whatever. I hope "Fiddler on the Roof" is resuscitated by each generation and never allowed to be relegated to the dustbin of history.
that would be nice. personnally, money isn't important to me, and I try to not be too egoist, but i realise that in this world, if you want to survive, the best way is to be ambitious, cupid, merciless... if you are just good, you just end up on a cross... :-(
Tevye: If I were a rich man... Golde: You'll be late for the Sabbath! Tevye: Knock on my door! Knock next time! ...did you see anything? Golde: No, Tevye, I didn't see you dancing and singing to the animals again. Tevye: Good.
@troubel911 Don't quote me on this, but I think it's because if he were wealthy, he'd have the money to have those animals. The fact that he'd have them would show he was wealthy.
