Great review, Craig! I appreciate all the effort you put into testing and comparing different portable power stations. It's important to consider the input voltage for PV and not exceed the recommended limits to avoid damaging the board. I love that the Bluetti AC70 is portable enough for each family member to carry, making it a great option for "bugging" out. And thanks to the user manual tip, we now know that the settings on the AC70 can be adjusted through the buttons. Keep up the excellent work and enjoy your retirement. Stay safe, my friend! Oh, and greetings from New Orleans, where I also enjoy sailing!

Thanks. Yes, multiple smaller ones may be preferable if you have multiple people needing power. Plus smaller ones are easier to charge back up with solar.

Craig, a nicely done review, I appreciate your efforts. FYI the voltage input for PV is the most important parameter to stay within. I agree you can over panel solar but, in the case of the EB3A, it's maximum input voltage is 28 volts DC (there may be some headroom of 1-2 VDC but not suggested). That 28 VDC limits you to 12 VDC, normally 18-22 Volts open circuit, and I suspect your 350 watt panel is closer to 40 volts open circuit, so be careful as it could fry the board. I have 5 of the EB3As as they are portable enough that each of my family members could carry one if 'bugging' out. The larger ones could take 2 people to carry. For home, I have 2 of the AC180s and 2 Renogy Phoenix 1000 for my 240 VDC output. Good luck on retirement and stay safe!

Thanks. I just use the open circuit voltage as it’s the highest number. If my solar generator says 25v and the OCV is less than that, it always seems to work fine.

Thanks for another informative review. FYI according to the user manual for the AC70 you can change the settings via the buttons. Not intuitive, but do-able.

Thanks. You can change the setting from the buttons? But the LCD menu on screen can not change so how would you get into all the features. Hmmm. Like you said not obvious or intuitive. Nothing on the website mentions that either so, they aren't making it obvious if that "button settings change" option does exist.

Hello, Craig. I am a subscriber and enjoy your informative videos. I also love sailing. It dawned on me watching this video that you might New Orleans. I do not know where

Thanks. Not sure what you meant by "you might New Orleans"? If you are asking if I am referring to a situation like the issues New Orleans had after the hurricane and mass flooding? Yes, any natural disaster that takes down the grid for a prolonged period is definitely a SHTF moment for those living in that area. If you are asking if I live in New Orleans, then no. My accent might give away, I am from Canada. :-)

One thing that needs to be considered is when the power is out, and when it is going to return is unknown, but it could be a while...should you really still be using a microwave to cook with or should you rely on your gas stove (assuming you still have gas). And, especially go to instant coffee and heat the water with gas. Dealing with a disaster and still wanting to do the whole "grind gourmet beans, brew the coffee with the super top-of-line coffee maker that draws 1500 watts, seems to be something you can do without for a while. I would rather save the energy for a lamp, or radio for information instead of a quick rush of caffine. Just my opinion. Echo mode is not that same as Silent. Echo mode has nothing to do with charging. From the included manual: "ECO Mode is a power-saving mode that is enabled by default. When operating on ECO Mode, the AC / DC output will automatically turn off if the AC70 is bearing low (less than40W or the set power) or no load for a while." Refer to Silent mode charging, also in the manual. Regarding the DC out, Bluetti power stations normally have a regulated 13.3 VDC output. You can make settings directly from the screen...not like mentioned at about minute 27:40. Again, right from the included manual: " 8.0 Setting The AC70 offers the convenience of adjusting its settings either via physical buttons or BLUETTI App. With the buttons located on the device itself, you have direct control overvarious settings such as ECO Mode, output frequency, charging modes, and otherfunctionalities. Additionally, by using the BLUETTI App, you can access a user-friendlyinterface on your phone to conveniently monitor and control the AC70." 8.1 Setting Mode When the screen is on and the AC output is off, press and hold the AC and DC power buttons for about 2 seconds till the frequency indicator flashes to enter Setting Mode. Press and hold the AC and DC power buttons at the same time to exit Setting Mode. Note: If you do not perform any operation in 1 minute, the AC70 will automatically exit Setting Mode and no changes will be saved. Thanks for the review, Craig.

Ya. Gas can be used for cooking, assuming it is still running. But most people don’t have gas stoves and ovens. So in that case the microwave is the most efficient cooking appliance since most things heat up in just a couple of minutes. Less power to boil water in a microwave than an electric kettle.

@@Bowmans-Woods What data are you basing your "mose people don't have gas stoves and ovens?" So your saying that everyone has only electric stoves and ovens? I question that.... And, if you are preparing for emergencies, you will most likely have a portable "canned gas" stove with several gas cartriges. I would save my electricity "asset" for charging critical batteries and for communication and lights.

Our son in Kitchener just bought a Honda 7000is inverter for the home situation. It's surprisingly quiet. He also bought a connecting cord and the plugin/switch that replaces the typical hydro meter. $4999 Can for the inverter.

That is a nice home back-up.

@CruisingOffDuty Yah, the inverter part is nice as the motor basically runs at idle until demand is applied. Great for integrity of appliances and electronics and time range usage and fuel efficiency. Cost is less than 1/3 of comparable Generac unit, but someone has to be home to run it.

I feel like with the right low wattage appliances I could do almost everything with the AC70, as far as output is concerned! I might need to watch your alligator clip battery tutorial a few more times for capacity, thanks 🙏

Excellent review. One thing you mentioned is that you cannot adjust the settings on the unit itself. Not true. To adjust the settings you press the AC and DC buttons at the same time for 2 seconds and it will take you into the settings mode. From there you can adjust the settings although it might be a little confusing to some people as it brings up codes which is a little unclear to some people. Again excellent review.

Thanks. Ya, not intuitive at all. I think for the average user it’s just easier to use the app to change settings. The AC200Max has a touch screen that gives you the drop down menus. That is what I was suggesting they should have added.

Do you mean retire and head south on our boat? If so, here is the plan. I retire in Feb. Janice works one more year until Jan 2025. At that point, we will have to decide if we take our existing boat down south and look for a new boat while we live on our existing one. OR, do we sell our existing boat up here in Canada and just hope we can find our perfect boat soon after. Time will tell what we do based on the economy and prices of used Cats.
