-Currently on vacation, so there won't be regular uploads for a few weeks. Still i got around making two more videos last month, although uploading them here is tricky.
Titan, moon of Saturn. It is a very lively looking place with methane lakes. So what would happened if it were to become a moon of Earth? Watch the video to find out.
Intro and outro footage made Space Engine.

It'sRairryMaddie ! Luna is very pretty, but I don't particularly find it interesting. It has no atmosphere, no bodies of liquid, no geologic activity. It's basically a dead world.

It'sRairryMaddie ! Sorry to disappoint you, but there is nothing on Luna of any interest. If there was, then NASA, the ESA, or another scientific body would've verified this by now. Perhaps there are still some mysteries about the moon, sure. But don't get your hopes up of finding anything interesting like life. Don't get me wrong, I love our moon, but I just don't particularly find it as interesting as some other places in our solar system

Do a video about Silicon based life or Other life that could use ammonia instead of water.
@jeffanderson8165
@jeffanderson8165 7 лет назад
While it is a wonderful topic for discussion, what I know about chemistry makes ammonia based life unlikely. One of the characteristics of chemistry is that some materials are water soluble and some aren't. Those which are, are polar; they have a North and South. Using ammonia as the universal solvent means that polar molecules won't be dissolved, but non-polar ones, the ones that water does *not* dissolve, would be dissolved in the ammonia. That leads to the problem of electrical conductance. Ammonia based, non-polar compounds don't conduct electricity where water based polar ones do. Without electrical conductivity, there's no neural pathway action. As far as carbon and silicon go, the big characteristic about carbon is its way of forming carbonic rings. This is a characteristic that silicon doesn't have. Again, as I understand chemistry, it's these ring structures that make long, data packed strings (DNA) possible. While it is hypothetically possible that silicon and ammonia can be used by life *very* different from us, the odds aren't good. Still, if you like science fiction the way I do, it's still a wonderful idea for trying to imagine what sort of magnificent life may be out there.

Even if Titan orbited around the Earth, it would never be habitable, and this for one simple reason: it does not have a protective magnetosphere. Without it, the solar wind would have already removed the atmosphere millions of years ago, and liquid water would have disappeared with the atmosphere. Titan would therefore be a desert devoid of water and life, with a very rarefied atmosphere, and a surface invested in full by solar radiation, like Mars. The only difference is that compared to Mars, it would be warmer, but it would not be enough to support life.

What if Jupiter became a red dwarf. Or if Jupiter where in the orbit of Venus instead. How this would afect the Earth. And the night sky.

Hey! This just gave me an idea. We need to bring in moons to colonize then send them back to their home planets once colonized, then repeat, and soon the Universe will be OURS!! Harharhahahr!!!
@njsullyalex2744
@njsullyalex2744 7 лет назад
The problem is: changing a planet's position is impossible. You would probably need an absolutely massive wormhole, and on top of that, you would need to be able to control the wormhole's location, as well as making sure it doesn't disrupt anything else.

You're right. Maybe one day we'll discover such laws and technology or aliens will teach us.

Wait a minute! Methane and ethane doesn't disappear - they still remain in Titan atmosphere in enormous quantities. So if we would to make breathable atmosphere here by pumping oxygen into Titan's atmosphere, then in one moment atmosphere will become erm... explosive. It would be an accidental great purge for all terraforming equipment on Titan though it should be very spectacular event when looking from Earth :D

Titan is mostly made of ice, and other light elements, so the sun would just melt the poor thing away.

We could as a society, try to engineer new types of plants, and grasses, to fully cover titan. We will make it a tourists attraction. A new place to go on vacation. :)

If Titan were put around Earth's orbit, the solar wind would stripped it of its atmosphere and left it as bare as our moon.

I know that this idea will not work even from not thinking about what would happen but it’s a pretty cool idea What if we sent a whole load of rockets to Titan or a nearby surfaced space object then turn them upside down so the engine is facing to the sky then the rockets will fire and we can push the planet or moon a tiny amount

one thing missed in this small essay,magnetic field or lack thereof with out one of them,the planet would be bombarded with high energy solar radiation that would very quickly rip away any atmosphere it would end up as dead as our moon!

hey man, you should check out Universe Sandbox 2. It lets you simulate things like our solar system, galaxy, black holes, etc on the computer. What makes it most fun is that you can experiment what would happen. You can literally put Titan as the moon of the earth and observe the changes on Titan, Earth and the rest of the solar system. You can throw Mars on Jupiter, make 2 galaxies combine, turn sun into a black hole. The possibilites are endless, and its also good video content for you as you have knowledge about this stuff. It would be helpful to visualise it and see how it unfolds. Cheers mate :D

Titan has an incredibly small magnetic field, which means the atmosphere would be stripped away almost instantly by solar radiation and solar winds

(0:55) ".... because ethane has a lower boiling point" Wrong, it's the other way around. Methane has a lower boiling point (112 K) than ethane (185 K)

I tink the solar wind will strip Titan of its atmosphere sooner rather than later. And of course low surface gravity doesn't help.
