The biggest tip is making sure your pot is not too big. More space doesn’t mean a healthier plant, it means more issues with it. As always, keep practicing those skills. Your plant babies will be happy to get fresh soil.
Please HELP! I need to know how to go from cuttings that have made roots in the water, to potted plants. I have monstera, pathos, and a couple mystery cuttings that have all developed roots in the water, but it feels wrong to put them in 3” nursery pots OR in bigger normal pots. What do I do?! Just stick one rooted vine in each pot? 😩🤷🏻♀️
I have a plant that split in two one day from its own weight so now i have two plants. Now all the babies are coming out of one stalk but that one stalk is attached to a second stalk that is now growing anything. I am súper unsure how to repot this plant. I’m afraid of hurting her!
Me too!! I feel like I’m killing them. It’s so so strange! I’m not a vegetarian or anything like this but when you have literally created “life” and it’s grown into something pretty just from a little seed I genuinely find it amazing. (Yeah I know I’m an absolute knuckle dragger but I’m good at other things: sadly I’m not good at growing things. Generally if I look at a plant it wil die 😅) Anyway I’ve managed to cultivate 2 plants and they looked great up til last week when we had a very sunny spell and they have almost doubled in size. I’m defo no expert but even I know they need fresh soil and a little more space. I’ve been told that if I don’t want my plants to be too big I don’t give them too large a pot. So I’m effectively stunting their growth. The thing I don’t understand about that though: how can they get to the “flowering” stage if im stunting their growth intentionally? I really just want to see them flower even if it’s just one time 😅 Il be so so proud man. Also I’m in Scotland so if you think I’m growing anything exotic or “smokeable” think again it is not warm enough 😅 x
She has one daughter from what I’ve seen. She’s also lost her husband during Covid but not too sure if that was the cause. She so strong moving her family forward from such a great loss. Her love definitively shines through her plants. Go Krystal! I hope she reaches one mil within the next year. She deserves it. If she doesn’t already have one I think TikTok would expand her brand. I’m not on there but she would definitely reach a wider audience.
Thank you so much for making it approachable. I've been completely blocked on this, and I just learned house plants need repotting *annually*???.... something I have never done in my entire life. Oops poor babies... it's a wonder any of them have lived.
im not an expert, but to the best of my knowledge, most houseplants definitely do not need to be repotted every year!! it depends on the type of plant, how fast it grows, etc. but there is no need to repot that often unless there is a specific reason to do so (ie. if it becomes rootbound or has a problem with the roots or soil.) if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
You can repot yearly but it may not be necessary. Many plants are OK with every 2 years. Some need more than once a year. If you find you're having to water more frequently, it may be in need of a repot. It does help to refresh the soil every couple of years, because the components break down over time.
you are so influential you have no idea. i have an outside garden and i learn a lot from your videos, my roommates watched one with me and now they all started saying “drown that h*e” every time i water any plant. just thought id let u know the catchphrase is catching
I would NEVER willing learn how to take care of the weeds Taking over my Home, but I would like to watch you tell me about your plants and now I’ve accidentally learned something and they are thriving. Useless, adorable pothos everywhere. Thank you for your sage advice ❤
is there a good method to repotting a poorly repotted plant???😅 my mom put a single aloe leaf to propagate in a wide pot but i’m afraid to goof it since it probably rooted by now?
You are the person who got me into plants! I now have one majestic palm and many more! my palm has lasted 7 months but has died off with healthy folded steams left and i am now waiting for the stems to open its new leaves but it seems to not want to, I live in California and it was an indoor Palm but now is outdoor on my patio that get a lot of sun I water every 1 to 2 weeks. any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Thank you for everything.
Not me discovering that I don’t need to remove all of the soil. At first I used to let the soil in the roots cause I was lazy and didn’t wanna remove all the soil… a couple plants suffered and almost died. This video makes me think that all over, maybe they were supposed to suffer anyway 😂 soooo glad I can now leave some soil inside the roots without fearing it might not lead to a flourishing plant.
Depends on the plant. Some prop better in soil, some in water, some in sphagnum, some in perlite, etc. Different people also have different preferred media they use to prop plants. For example, trailing heartleaf philodendron or pothos, I always prop in water. Some plants just rot in water, though. I'd suggest doing a google or search RU-vid for "propagate x plant," where x is the particular plant you're trying to prop. See what others have had success with and pick a method from those.
I have a bougainvillea waiting to be repotted, and it was one of the few that I successfully propagated from a cutting.... And I'm scared to repot it in a bigger, better pot😢 Their roots, can be very fragile
Just started a mini garden even though I'm almost entirely new to this. So far I have 1 fern, 2 succulents, 4 cacti, 1 pepper plant and a plant I have no idea what it is. Please give any advice!
I have a question! I’ve seen a lot of greenhouses as well as customers (residential business employee) that keep the PINK light above their plants. This seems new, and one of my colleagues even asked about it. May I have some insight from the plant goddess or one of the many other plant parents? 😊
The pink lights are just lights on the red end of the spectrum that plants use for photosynthesis. Full spectrum lights or daylight bulbs work just as well, in my opinion, but I'm no lighting expert. I just hate the red tint because it gives me a headache lol.
@@lenat7397 thank you 😅 that day I got two incorrect IDs on two different plants, in two different shorts. Idk why people reply when they don't know what they're talking about.
As long as you give the plants a very chunky substrate that provides lots of oxygen pockets, it doesn’t matter how big the pot is. You could even water your plants daily if you wanted though I wouldn’t do it myself simply because it is inconvenient. Overwatering is a myth. Think logically… Plants in nature don’t get to decide when it rains, how long it rains, and how much it rains. They also grow out in the open earth with infinite space! It could rain for hours, days, or even weeks during the wet season in some parts of the world. How do those plants survive? The main part of the equation is the substrate. I currently have one pothos cutting in a 9” nursery pot with my own custom chunky substrate (you read that correctly - ONE cutting in a 9” pot). I’m currently training it to grow up a 7-foot cedar plank. I water it thoroughly each week regardless of the substrate feeling dry. I do this to flush the substrate of any stagnant water. This reintroduces fresh oxygen into the soil and also mimics what happens in this plant’s natural habitat. The plant is not only alive, but after 4 months, it has finally begun climbing up the plank.
I think a lot of plant influencers let their plants go too dry and have root die off, and then when they water, they get root rot because they've lost so much root mass. People also leave plants too long in the thick, heavy soil from the shops which definitely doesn't let the roots breathe!
My sister gave me hens & chicks last year. I waited until fall to transplant them into an appropriate pot so I could give her her pot back. And they ALL died! 😢 😭
Wait so i dont have to pack it down to make it compact? I watch some dude saying i should do that and i think thats the reason why my zz plant’s top soil is still moist after a week 😢
Hi, can you help me? So I have a big aloe plant and I know it produces other aloe plants, I don't I think it has other plants in it right now. Is there a way I could take some of that plant and put a little bit in a pot to start growing another?
I have never heard of someone saying that a planter can be “too big”. This has to be why I kill plants even when I watch people like her. These tiny details that probably end up killing my stuff.
Idk what soil to use for my monsteras (I have 3 babies and 2 relatively big ones) and the pots are BURSTING. I need help I already bought new pots I just don't know what soil to get 😭😭 Edit: yes I know I will probably drown in them when they grow but I couldn't resist they were on sale ready to be put in the trash 😭
