Just put in your all at this college, get straight As and transfer to your dream school if that's still what you desire! Kudos to your positive mindset and figuring out a new path for yourself.

I am not american, but i am getting into college this year. This is my gap year, so the result means a lot to me. I did qualify to give exam to my dream college but im not at all confident about it. There are just 2 weeks left for it and i have other entrance exams on 4 days before it and i cant skip them cuz these are my safeties.The exam for my dream college is VERY difficult and ik there is a 95% chance i will fail but for some reason i just cant accept it. 2 weeks is not enough to prepare for it but smth inside me still tells me to give my best and prepare for the dissapointment. I also feel very ashamed for failing IN MY GAP YEAR. All my schoolmates just accepted their fates and decided to go to lower tier colleges but i had the audacity to think i could do better and am failing now. It's gonna be embarassing, but it is what it is..

Don’t doubt yourself, you SHOULD have the audacity to want to do better and strive for more. All that matters is that you believe you did enough preparation for your dream college! Even if you don’t get the results you hoped for take it as a learning lesson and learn to pivot. I believe in you, good luck!

College admissions is a lottery and that's the brutal truth I, and many others, found out this year. It's difficult especially hearing your friends and others around you get into their dream schools while you're stuck there wondering what else you could've done. Throughout high school I was sort of known as this "smart kid" and I always tried to make the most out of my opportunities to ensure that I could maximize my chances. Everyone had high expectations of me so when college decisions finished, I felt like I fell short of those expectations It took me a while before I realized I shouldn't compare myself to others even though I'm a bit salty about how short my work over the past 4 years took me and I should instead focus on the opportunities that lie ahead of me. Though it still stings sometimes, thankfully the field I'm pursuing is mainly a meritocracy and I realized that the work ethic and routine I developed over the past years will still carry over in college and if I failed to get into a good school, at least I failed by doing the things I was passionate in.

I'm so glad you have this mindset! It will take you far in life. It's defiantly hard when you get hit with the reality that you may have become the "burnt out gifted kid" but we all hold our own unique skill sets. Knowing the importance of having a good work ethic will help push you through all the obstacles that you will face, college included.
