But I gotta ask tho how often is too often? Bc I have a hard time gauging that and when I like something that’s all I want to wear and it’s something that my family even notices
The problem is that i like every style😭 old money, hippie, soft, black, white, colorful, chunky accessories, minimal accessories... So I always end up buying each of everything and then it doesn't match
Personally I have little sections in my closet for every style so for every style it’s “minimalist” so all the pieces work together and then my basics are hung up and this way keeps me organized and let’s me know what I have too much of or don’t have enough
To add on to the last tip: Having a dance party. It is really fun to look at yourself in a full size mirror with your new outfit that you havent tried before, while playing music. Also doing your normal habits in that same fit is really good too. Walk around in your house with the fit if you have to and see if whenever u walk past your full sized mirror (or any mirror) that you feel super confident and feel like you've expressed what you wanted through the outfit. Like literally, if you had to do a double take because of how hot you are, you nailed it lol! It seems narcissistic but trust me it helps to build up good vybes with yourself.
YES, or at LEAST play upbeat music that gets you in a good mood. I always try to do my makeup and hair first too so I already feel a little better about my self-image before trying on clothes
Adding another one : FUN MAKEUP! I think even the most random boring outfit can be 'jazzed' up with funky eye makeup, or just face makeup in general. I've been getting into makeup a lot lately and even if I wear a normal white tee, I go with small pink hearts around my eyes and they look pretty cool!
I want to learn how to do make up but I’m broke and I want to buy from ethical good makeup brands. Also since I sweat easily it’ll prob get ruined fast
@@SpidermanUndercover honestly i gravitate towards purchasing makeup because its more “affordable” than clothes where i am but anyways if u sweat alot you can try buying matte products, primer, setting powder + spray to help your makeup last! in terms of ethics,,, i buy alot of elf and colourpop makeup since its affordable and claims to be vegan + cruelty free . just also remember to check the ingredients and dont buy any that have mica powder. learning how to do makeup may be frustrating but practice and learning your face shape can help alot! try focusing on a certain style and look up yt tutorials with ur skin tone. hopefully this helps:)
Another tip that doesn’t get talked a lot about is sizing. Many brands run small or run big so the fit and your body is what matters. Sometimes I’m a medium or an Xl and sometimes I feel bad or try to gravitate to smaller sizes but they don’t fit right. So don’t worry about the size because all of them are wonky, I could fit in small but not a brandy Melville small •_• idk if this makes sense
Brandy Melville is a great example of weird sizing too because I am quite thin myself with pretty broad shoulders and also big boobs and brandy is so weird on me. Like I fit in the jeans but not the skirts, I fit in tank tops but not short sleeves, I fit in sweaters but not cardigans like it’s so wonky
Idk if this sounds weird but your lips and face give me such a Bratz doll vibe it's honestly amazing. I just love how all of your facial features complement each other so nicely.
I think it’s cause a lot of American pop culture fashion norms in the 2000s inspired bratz looks n as such, took a lot of inspiration from Asian Americans and Hispanic Americans fashion as that was rly comin in at the time. Lots of cartoony characters were finally not just white
another thing is its ok to be "basic" with your outfits. you dont have to always have layers or alot of accessories. its ok to be simpler with your outfits just as long as you like how it looks on you and your confident. trust me you will look good :)
- a big tip is to invest in basics, at the very least. you want to get the most wear out of your good quality basics that you can always dress up or down with jewelery/layers. invest in good material plain tees, tank tops, biker shorts, leggings, denim jackets, and/or leather jackets. good quality DOES NOT have to mean expensive. basics will never go out of style - Invest in good detergent and clothing softener as well. - there is NOTHING WRONG with repeating outfits or repeating clothing pieces. one item can work for so many different outfits and still be within your style. - don't be afraid to sway away from (or toward) trends. wear what defines your style and makes you feel confident.
@@starylize how do you keep your clothes from being crispy? I find if I just use detergent my clothes go weird and crispy over time, even if I do a rinse and spin at the end of the cycle
@@ollieoldale-worth7176 it could be many things. Might be too much detergent or just try a different detergent. It might be overloading the wash. You could also try to dry clothes outside on a windy day to help with that too. Or dry them for a bit before hang drying
here's also my tip: dont buy only basics. they are important and you need them, BUT having only basics may feel a little boring and not as expected (at least that's what helped me ahahah)
ANOTHER THING TO REMEMBER! CLOTHING IS SUPPOSED TO FIT YOU, YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO FIT IT. CLOTHES ARE TO BE MADE TO FIT YOU, YOU SHOULDN'T CHANGE YOURSELF TO FIT IN A DUMB SHIRT.
another tip: take a picture of every outfit you wear and put it in a folder on your phone! it helps you hone in more on what your current style is and which outfits are go-to's
Every time I go shopping and I see a trendy item I want, I always ask myself, “would I buy it if it wasn’t trendy right now?” And half the time it stops me from buying something I know would sit in my closet after a month
before buying ANY item, i try to picture at least 3 ways in which i would style it. if i cant think of any outfits (or more specifically outfits i would really like), then i don’t buy it since clearly i won’t use it even if i like it superficially
both of my faves!!! i agree jasmine was perfect for this because she is really outspoken and has found her groove + y’all both are gods at styling your followers and i think it’s SO cool how you reach out and help people w that. ALL LOVE
what i've noticed is that all the pieces of clothing that i don't end up regret buying are the ones i bought after i took time to think about my necessities. i'll check the boxes of a trend and see if it's exactly what i need right now, i'll take into consideration what i already have on my closet so i don't need to spend more money to match outfits, the weather, the places i go to... those things are important for the non riches who work 7-5 like me. loved the video 🥰
sometimes its not abt clothes , its about my body size. i feel so insecure to wear clothes that i think look cute on me if i put them tgt but my body size make it difficult. i tend to think i'll look a lot cuter if i were skinnier and the problem isn't my clothes but my body :(((
hi, I don't know you but I know this: you shouldn't keep the cuteness you feel wearing clothes just because of your body size! As I had some issues with the way my body looked too, I know it can be difficult sometimes. But do remember:All shapes and sizes are beautiful, and so are you! - a stranger from the internet
hey.. you are beautiful just the way you are! you’re body is amazing just the way it is, but wear what feels comfortable to you! -another random stranger from the internet :)
my mom thinks that way too like she always says stuff looks good on me but on her it wouldn’t look good bc she’s bigger but that’s so not true, you probably have curves i’ll never have and nice thighs and just things that make certain clothing look really good!
i saw someone else say this but clothes are supposed to fit you not the other way around you don't need to change yourself to fit into a piece of clothing. i struggled with the same thing and still struggle with it but i just learned to find clothes that are made for my body type. im not going to go in brandy melvile and find jeans that fit me and that's ok! i go to thrift stores and find cheap and good quality clothes then tailor them to fit YOU. if you feel the need to change for an outfit then that outfit is just not for you. you can still give of the same type of vibe with different pieces of clothing. also try follow infuecers with your body type
I feel the same, if I wanted to try a cute outfit on my mom would say That I look fat or if I’m skinny like my sister clothes would look good on me. It hurts me to hear her say that, so then I won’t even wear makeup or cute outfits around her and she talks to me on how I won’t get a husband in the future if I don’t dress up 🫤 I just hate the shape of my body😿
Fun fact: every day of the week corresponds to a different planet, and each planet has its own colors. In some temples in India they follow this as a dress code for the deities and some people also follow it for their daily outfit. For example, monday is the day of the moon, which has the color white/pearl. Tuesday is Mars, the colors are red/ black. Wednesday is mercury the color is green etc... 😊
i’ve been corresponding my outfits to the planet of the day for around a year now! it definitely helps when you don’t know what to wear while also subtly being more in touch with the universe :)
Fashion is so fun, and i think its important to remember that it should make you feel the way you want to feel (cool, fun, clean, comfy). You don't need to wear things that make you uncomfortable. It's so individual
something that really took me something to learn is that you don't need to have a style if you don't want to. i like a little bit of everything and i like looking different, don't think that you have to stick to one style if you don't want to
the thing is, i am a maximalist. I love a lot of colour, jewelry, layering, impractical and unconventional clothing, gold and silver, heavy accessorizing etc but i live in a country that is tropical all year around and is very judgmental. so if i dont wear the most basic and compound street wear like skinny ripped jeans and a cropped top i will be judged. and i'm not gonna sit here and act like i don't get affected by the fact that i am not receiving validation cuz im a human being and acceptance is how we function as a society. i know these ppl have no room to judge bc of their below the floor fashion sense but i still feel the pressure to belittle myself and hide who i am. how do i fix this? how do i be a little more confident?
Remember that people will judge you for what you do no matter what, even if it is “acceptable”. So, would you rather have people judge you while you’re wearing something you don’t want, or do you want people to judge you while you’re dressing the way you want?
I totally understand how u feel!!! What I did is grab my favorite shapes/colors and mix/match them with whatever “street wear” the locals are wearing. For example, when choosing an outfit pick a local color but choose an unconventional shape that’s totally ur style, and viceversa; when u choose a local shape ( the mom jeans + crop top duo - I hate mom jeans on my body but I can wear a slightly oversized crop top, instead of a tight one, for the sake of fitting in) try to incorporate it in colors u love wearing. This will make you feel more “blended in” and once u feel confident enough among the locals u can go full on with ur personal style :) sorry if this is too long haha hope it helps p.s. the comment above it’s totally right - f other peoples opinions, but I do understand the struggle is real 🥲
@@ukiyo.3363 youre so right. i've definitely gotten a lot more confident in my personal style and found a way to incorporate it into local clothing with my very eclectic taste. itll take a lot of time to be fully free and immune to the fear of being judged tho.. since ive never had the priviledge of self-expression
@@dt-cx3vc i too hate mom jeans or any jean that isnt flared lol. in my country people will literally be physically a$$@u!ted for wearing clothes that is deemed "weird". like something as simple as platform shoes will get you bashed. if you dont wear the most basic piece of clothing like a tube dress and sandals youll be accused of wanting to be "american" or only getting your personality from online. which is very ironic if you ask me. i do have a mouth smart enough to deal with !di0ts but i dont want to HAVE to deal with them. like why cant i just be left alone. im sure the only way ill be able to dress how i want is at home or outside the country bc its just overwhelming knowing people will actually try to hurt you because you got on a faux fur jacket lol
You're literally a fashion icon, especially for me who's still looking for their own style. This is really very informative ! Congratz on the rebranding anyways, Jasmine is such a pretty name 💕
okay but the trying on clothes in person tip helps so much‼️ i went thrifting a bit ago and had a full cart of clothes but then by the time i got to the check-out i only ended up getting four things that i really loved and wanted to add to my wardrobe. vvv excited for this series
fun tip for winter if you like layering: I really like to go for turtlenecks under anything to stay warm or for a more fun look turtlenecks with shirt over them and a sweater vest on top :) it can also be pretty cool to wear pretty short loose dresses over a turtleneck and with a pair of jeans and just match up the colors a bit
high quality clothing does not mean expensive. you can get high quality pieces in second hands as well. it is definitely way better than expensive high quality clothing that contributes/endanger the environment, as it is produced by newly acquired sources. thrift shopping is the best choice we all can make, by the way it is actually a good way to maximize your clothing style. you gotta be creative and handle the differences (beautiful varieties! THIS is fashion!) between pieces, it is also way better than fast fashion as it is a minimal chance of stealing your outfit, it will always look quirky in a positive way, way more unique and I personally see the fits consisting of thrift picked clothing items to be the best form of expression in your style (u know what I mean) and it looks sooo appealing. :) I liked the video though!
My favourtite accesory has been chunky corset style belts. It completly transforms a cute dress into a more edgy outfit and I love it! It also makes pieces more flattering for my body
honestly even with the most simple outfits (even if sometimes theyre top tier) with accessories hair and makeup you can make it really fun and « upgrade it »
I really love the tip about putting stuff back inside out to know you’ve worn it… I’m trying to get through cleaning out my closet and kinda rediscovering my style but I have a hard time just letting go of stuff even if I haven’t worn it in forever. I think this might help me be more objective about it. Thanks!!
I needed this video because I've been feeling very self-conscious of my body and for everyone that is feeling that way we will get through this together ♡
@@silver7347 thank you so much!! I hope you feel better about yourself now as well it takes a lot of time and effort to fully love your body image. But eventually you will and you will feel a big weight off your chest. 💕💕💕 love yourself
i love how ur style AND confidence has evolved over the years; ure growing !! and i genuinely enjoy witnessing it, it's always a delight to just sit down and watch ur vids
Learning to sew definitely helped me get more out of my closet! I use this the most around the necklines of my tops by scrunching the fabric and adding a few stitches. I also add a few on wrap tops if im not happy where things are laying. These ones are really easy to do by hand and completely reverse able. Adding elastic bands to the back of jeans or taking in a skirt a bit is also super helpful to make something easily fit without dealing with belts. Learning how to hem pants is also a life saver if you’re short!
I'm very minimalist and I didn't know it was a thing, when I found out on pinterest I was so happy. Now I feel like I'm having a glow-up cause I finaly dress like I want to do. Everything in the same color, maybe diferent shades, no accesories, no purses, natural make up and some regular hairstyle and I love how I look
about the hair thing is like my hair is falling out ( alopecia lol 😩) i can’t feel confident w myself , no more cool hairstyles, the humiliation i feel as a 13 yo girl is soooo bad . And the monthly injections are terrible love ur vids jasmine , keep it up
Girl, I have alopecia too and it's been SO HARD for me. Even if I have a good outfit on, it doesn't do it for me because of how horrible my hair looks 🙃
i just sell and buy all my clothes on depop and constantly switch out my items!!! i get bored too easily and it's a great way to try new things and not overly damage the environment
I love this video!! The way you talk about fashion makes me feel like I‘m talking to the cool girl in school everyone is intimated by who is actually a total sweetheart and a big sister for everyone 🥺 You always make me wanna dive deeper into what I like to style myself like and you inspire me to try something new 🥰 Your rebranding really suits all the growth and character development we‘ve seen you go through in the last couple years. Thank you for being here 💕
Another thing that has helped me recently is the Kibbe styling system❤️ it made me realise that my features just suit certain styles better but also helped me narrow down things a little
Trying to shine a light on sustainability rather than the shooting it down (which happens often cuz it gets confused a lot with other things). Sustainability is not just about buying expensive clothing from "sustainable brands". Even what you did, thrifting the boy shorts is sustainable, and probably cost very little, and thats great (reusing what is already in the system)! Also rewearing outfits is sustainable! It's just about getting away from repeatedly buying from fast fashion companies where the garment will only last a few wears and admitting that we (as consumers) truly have an impact in the system and consciously assessing what you're about to contribute your money to if you buy from X company new (being conscious of capitalism/spending mindset, quality, trends, etc).
i really liked your response to mixing metals becuase it shouldn't matter what other people have decided should not go together, all that matters is you like what your wearing
another thing to note is that lots of people (like me and many of my friends) don’t use social media anymore (specifically tik tok/insta) so micro trends are still around us but not as much as if we were on socials and we don’t have a way to really keep up so some things you see as “micro trends” like the zebra print pants you mentioned are actual things that people wear that aren’t involved in keeping up with those things. As an art student I am around people with super unique styles and for myself i love prints and patterns so I feel like what may be a micro trend for someone who’s trying so hard to fit the current aesthetic or follow a trend is something that people who don’t care about that have been wearing for years …. Just another perspective on that(:
You’re so great! Solid advice, cute fits, showcased different styles, you didn’t shame those who use fast fashion due to financial reasons, you gave credit to the RU-vidr who you got an idea from… I could go on. Video is just *chefs kiss
I just found this video. I really think confidence in oneself plays a big role in carrying the clothes you want to wear. It’s really hard to pull a new outfit off when with just your family already criticising you 😩
I think my style is very versatile; I just love clothes! I love them so much that I sometimes just grab my sewing machine sometimes after sketching out a beautiful top that I envisioned in a daydream and try to make it (doesn’t always work tho, lol) and I know pretty much what I’d love to buy, but there are always 2 things stopping me ;( Parents and friends, lol
Jasmine you are truly my inspiration! I’m kind of on the heavier size and I love trying out cool out of my comfort zones outfits because of YOU!! Thank you for being a big help in my fashion journey as a 20yr old. 💙
omg i was literally just shopping for new clothes and trying to find a style i liked, i had such a hard time, i ended up buying nothing! perfect timing, thank you for this
For the astrology babies: try the 'follow the rainbow' tip but with planetary colours Mon: the moon > white/silver Tue: mars > red Wed: mercury > orange Thu: Jupiter > blue Fri: Venus > green Sat: Saturn > Black Sun: the sun > yellow/gold (Wearing the corresponding colour is a way of attuning to the energies of a planet/building a relationship with it/remediating a 'weaker' planet in your chart. I use colour associations derived from hellenistic astro, but use whatever system u want!) You can look up planetary hours/days/nights or chaldean order to REALLY go down the rabbit hole
Hi love your videos and definitely your style! I just wanted to say my story with fashion. I'm 23 and a mom of soon to be 4. My body usually tends to stay around 120lbs but despite that my body has changed a lot since my high school days. Also growing up my mom was a terrible person (but I won't get into that cuz oof) but she loves clothing and accessories. So she forced me a lot to put on things but it made me irritated and I steered away from anything "girly" and everytime I had the one outfit I felt great in she always found something to hate. (There's more but this is just the general idea of my childhood) So as an adult and a mom I'm struggling to look and feel nice
My mom forces me to wear skin tight clothes all the time despite knowing my obviously big belly. I even pointed it out that I look pregnant when I wear skin tight shirts.
I think you need to steer away from what your mother thinks or might think, like the voice in your head. Maybe find a person that inspires you fashion wise and imagine they are the ones styling you and don't even think about your mother. Idk, your problem is more psychological than fashion wise I feel so idk how to help. Stay strong!
The point you made about wanting to copy someone's outfit because you want to 'be' them or like them vs. because you think it will actually fit you is such a great insight. I've dealt with that but never heard it articulated.
0:19-Fun fact: This woman is Nazaré Tedesco,a brazilian novel villian. Theres no math ecuations on the original scene + she's at a prision. You welcome and stay strong.
okay first off she’s so pretty and the table with the disco ball on it is so aesthetic!! but also the intro was so creative and cute and this video was so helpful wow
I stumbled upon your video after having a bit of a mental breakdown today over my clothes and the way I feel/look in them. I just wanted to say thank you. The part where you talked about big t-shirts etc. and that it's okay if that's your style... I don't think any other "find your style" video I've ever watched has mentioned that. It's all about the jeans and skirts and tights and dresses etc. You really made me feel a lot better.
Making a list of things you like and dislike is so helpful. Take colors, material and fit into consideration. Like I really dislike long sleeved shirts with tight, skin hugging material or velvet. Sometimes I see really cute tops with thar type of material but ik I wouldn't like wearing it bc it's uncomfortable. So definitely keep comfort in mind.
Here is something that I like to do when I'm shopping (cz I buy a lot of things that I end up not liking /not wearing them any more) for example when I like a top, I visualize myself wearing it with things that I own and see how many outfits I can come up with
i’ve always had issues with what style to have. on one hand i want to dress basic and cozy, but a lot of times i want to dress alt/emo since i listen to the music. at this point i cant choose so i wear what i feel like for the day
Maybe you can mix the two? My hubby is kinda in the same boat as you and right now especially cus we're moving, he wants to be comfy but his style is alt. So what tipped him off was when we went to a concert and bought a lot of merch which included sweatpants with the band logo/design on it. With those sweatpants, a band tee/hoodie, denim jacket, and doc marten boots, he kinda created his own comfy alt style. I think basically wear what you would normally in an alt outfit but switch out black skinny jeans with black slim fit joggers to make it comfy. I hope this helps!
Tbh the biggest issue with fast fashion is that people buy a lot and throw away a lot. As long as you’re buying things to keep for a long time and take care of it so it does least a long time than don’t be to scared of fast fashion. Just make sure you’re getting what you’ll want for a long time. And if you end up not liking it sell/donate it so it hopefully goes back into use
another tip is to take a picture of all your clothing items (or get them online if you can) and then find a place to mix and match pieces together, eg. by using a wardrobe organiser template on notion. it's much easier to see everything laid out digitally vs literally putting on every piece of clothing to see what works
I’ve never considered myself fashionable. I always desperately wanted to be fashionable, though. So I started buying a bunch of basics that I like. Good jeans, pants, tshirts, tanks, shoes, etc. my basics are mostly black and white, which I personally like. Now a lot of people have told me they think I’m fashionable. Building a wardrobe has just taken a lot of time. Unless you get a lot of thrifted clothes, things cost a lot. Give yourself time to get things you like and build overtime.
I've watched ur vids for ages now, but I just love ur vids more and more every time! keep doing what ur doing because u are really inspiring to a lot of people, and its completely ok to have bad days, or bad months and talking about that kan help a lot of other people. luv u
The most I knew about clothes before watching this was “must have basics” but now I feel like I can definitely find clothes that I actually like and want to wear 👍
