This is just an anecdote but the water flosser was an absolute game changer for me. I used to have really red and swollen gums all the time that didn't go away by just brushing and flossing twice a day. My gums got significantly healthier in just a few days using my water flosser. My gums also feel so much more comfortable and clean and there's no foul smell between my teeth anymore.
I agree. Oral irrigator and oil pulling have turned my mouth A+. I use a 300 ml handheld rechargeable irrigator from Amazon. Hi an Lo setting. I use the Hi and 3x/day. Dentist isn't vacuuming my wallet these days. 😅
Yessss!! Once you have the perfect routine make it a habit and never skip a night! I know it’s crazy but being subscribed here and seeing your posts on insta help keep me motivated :)
I have 7 implants in my mouth and I get a scale and debridement of each implant as well as gingival irrigation. I'm told many patients think once they get implants, they can do what they want not realizing that they can get boneloss from not plaque build up. After $50,000 worth of work . Of course from insurance. Best to spend the $250 every 6 months.
Nice video. My mom loves using the proxy brushes, I prefer the disposable mini floss picks. Sometimes if I rush flossing my gums will bleed more so my dentist told me don't rush lol.
My Morning Routine- water floss at the gumline front and backs of teeth, 2 min Sonicare toothbrush, 1 min Listerine cool mint mouth rinse, No water rinsing between any steps, No food or drink 30 minutes after the last step. PM routine- String floss all areas especially the back teeth, 2 min Sonicare toothbrush, 1 min Listerine cool mint mouthwash, 1 minute Act Floride mouthwash, No water rinsing between any of the steps, No food or drink 30 minutes after the last step not even water.
I can’t use proxy brushes because my teeth are too tight together . Can you please make a video showing how to clean a hand held water flosser? There are only videos showing how to clean the large ones. Thanks!
Hi Whitney, I have a weird question: Does practising oral sex contribute to or cause gum disease? I have developed gum disease and worried that it's due to the same reason
Just be careful with the water flossers and the pressure at which they pound water onto the teeth at a very close distance. I had a tooth crack as the sustained pressure of the water jet hitting the teeth was actually too strong. Therefore I haven’t used water flossers since but if I were make sure to keep the pressure low.
The Phillips is 10X the Oral-B because the oral b can sometimes pinch your lips between the head and the shaft. The phillips oscilates the entire shaft.
I find the interdental brushes a bit of a scam as they keep bending and becoming useless... I am using a full plastic tepe one at the moment as an alternative, lasts longer.
Water flossing with a little peroxide in warm water is better than just water. Don't put hot water in the flosser, It will start leaking. Along with this, make sure you get enough vitamin C in your diet.
I've heard this advice before but what does it do? How much peroxide should you use? I've also heard some people say to use mouthwash in the water instead. Is that just as good?
I had gum disease some years ago and have been visiting my hygienist 4 times a year since, because I'm not going back to that. I have an impeachable oral routine. My hygienist recently told me she will not see me for another 6 months because it is not and has not been clinically necessary for a long time and I'm wasting my money. In the UK it is not typical for hygienists to floss your teeth, but she did. I asked why she was doing it because she'd never done it before?....'because I have to do something to fill the time'! 😂 Ps, @teethtalkgirl has been my corner stone in maintaining good oral health with her advice, tios and information.
@TeethTalk I have been having difficulty finding the Sunstar micro tight proxy brushes. I live in Atlanta, and have not had any luck. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I just loss one front of mines . I wish someone would of told me to get a check up every 6 months get your teeth clean. In your case, go get a check up right away and if they tell you to get the deep cleaning do it before it's too late
either order works! and no -- it's the opposite. not flossing puts you at risk for bacteria to get into bloodstream. here's my videos that explain: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LbELWANMu7g.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YimNq630_ks.html hope these help!
generally I recommend the default, regular tip without the brush unless you're in braces. but always check which one is best for your personal mouth with your individual dental provider. hope this helps!
can a periodontist or a knowledgeable dentist try to help me-- I have had swollen gums my entire life practically. I am at my wits end, I feel ive tried it all. even down to lasering off the excess tissue-it grew back! WHAT can cause swollen gums that may be overlooked? I have asked multiple dentists and periodontists but none have found an answer for me
I came from the dentist is it true some people are not prone to cavities my dentist told me since my spit is sticky those are reasons why I don’t get cavities I use to eat terrible and never got them but my sister always did she said I am prone to gum disease if I didnt take care of my teeth I also learn my tonsils/back throat are large they were amazed I don’t know y didn’t get in depth
they are okay! I believe it's better to separately floss, then separately water floss to get the best technique. however, for people who are not flossing as it is, it's better than nothing to use the dual! hope this helps!
as long as you follow the directions on keeping it clean -- you're all good! here's how I clean my water flosser: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VvPbOUpyi3s.html
maybe she prefers you to use interdental brushes? every dental situation is unique and maybe there's something specific she wants you to use for your individual mouth. hope this helps!
😢 I need treatment on decaying top back teeth but I can't because I suffer from severe gag reflex. I can't even manage the smallest slide for side x-ray 😭 I can't do it.
@@TeethTalk just started properly flossing my gums absolutely killed first time ha ha but after that I was ok - I can visible see a difference My teeth routine on a nights about 20 mins haha
My dental hygienist filled down and rounded my 2 front teeth without asking I’ve been in bed crying I’ve compared it to before photos I’m severely depressed! They look rounded and fake like veneers Before they were longer than my side teeth but he matched them to my side teeth length I’m crying I’m so sad He had no right to do this without me saying so
@@AmyKaylasVegas I’m not sure what that is in Australia? I will go back to see him but my dad isn’t going to do much and I know for a fact he filled them down and there much thicker now very uncomfortable and shorter than before In very upset
as long as they are soft bristles and have the ADA seal of acceptance, they are safe and effective and won't cause gums to recede. always talk with your dental provider about which toothbrush is best for your individual mouth. hope this helps!
the old type without a pressure sensor made my gums bleed, yeah. But the new ones with sensors are great and I believe the one that I'm using (I use Oral B iO7) is one of the key factors on why I don't have gum disease anymore.
@@paulinak.1736 you have to press quite hard for the pressure sensor to activate. The speed the brush head oscillates makes the gum recede even on the lowest speed.
@@kloppsippingvarsenaltears2789 nope, you don't. The new versions will show you even when you are pressing too gently. I've been using this new generation of electric toothbrush for about a year now, 3-4 times/day. My gums are nice and pink, I never had any bleeding, not even once.
