Great picks, I guess Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Tiamat got sacrificed for the sake of less frequently mentioned bands? Also Count Raven and Isole could have been included, I think they are also underappreciated. Also Anathema, Pentecost III is one of the coolest doom metal albums. Are you planning to do a separate video on funeral doom? I love Ahab.
Perfect choices for a doom metal compilation! The Obsessed (especially the first two LPs are mind-blowing), Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Cathedral among my favourites. Would love to see a funeral doom compilation in the future \m/ \m/
Finally I find someone giving some love to Cathedral, and specifically their song Enter the Worms. They are such an underrated band. Barely anyone even knows about that song.
It was harder for me to recognize many of them because it wasn't the original recording. Many of these bands have such unique sounds that they are more easily distinguished from one another if you hear how the drums, guitar and overall atmosphere sounds when you hear the songs, for me at least. I still got 7 of them though, I didn't recognize the Pentagram, Obssessed and Trouble songs.
Absolutely amazing bunch there!! I'll never tire of hearing "Enter the Worms" and I'm away to listen to "The Ethereal Mirror" now. I got 5 bands there.

I started listening to doom metal a week ago, only because i gave Black Sabbath a chance and self-titled blew my mind. Fantastic album and it got me instantly into doom metal. Love it :D
I’m surprised by how many times I was stumped. Still got most of the picks right at least by artist. As soon as I heard these riffs from Cathedral, Solitude Aeturnus, and The Obsessed I knew I had to add them on a playlist and I’m definitely skimming through at least an album or two when I get off work. Seriously cool picks and you did a great job mocking up the tones, especially when you were doing Candlemass and Trouble. The tone you had for The Tempter was a dead ringer

I'm jealous lmao, Solitude Aeturnus is one of my favorite bands ever, honestly every one of their albums is at least good, their first 3 especially are just legendary. Into the Depths of Sorrow is mindblowing, if you like The Tempter from Trouble I always found Solitude Aeturnus style in their first album very similar to that song. Also Rob Lowe in his prime is straight up one of my favorite vocalists of all time, he's so good.
@@francompalmieri SA was definitely a standout for me here, the bits from Alone I’ve heard so far (mostly diving into Cathedral atm) sound a hell of a lot like if Candlemass had Maynard from Tool on vocals. It’s a combination that I’m really into, can’t wait to get a little deeper into them
@@doomsdaycce Yeah they're the Candlemass from America if it makes sense, I would say those two are the pillars of epic doom metal. Btw have you ever listened to Scald? Will of the Gods is Great Power is one of the greatest epic doom albums, can stand toe to toe with any SA/Candlemass album IMO, it's got more of a viking Bathory vibe combined with Candlemass, heavily recommend if you haven't listened, one of my favorite albums ever, also an incredible vocalist.
I listen to Doom Metal subgenres since 2008 (Death Doom Metal and Funeral Doom Metal in general) so this video is a gift for me. I gussed all the songs. Though it was hard since you did mostly trad doom and stoner doom in this video (not funeral or death-doom)
Yes! Now I stand a chance! Some I knew almost from the first note: Cathedral; Electric Wizard; Sabbath; Sleep, a couple I guessed and a couple stumped me, even though I have the LPs. I have a lot of this style and to be honest they can sound similar and I'm also old and forgetful. I'd probably do well with some 70s metal. Well played as always.

I only got Candlemass, Solitude, Trouble, and Black Sabbath. Into The Void by Black Sabbath is the only song I can play so far, don't know why i chose a 6 minute song to start with lol maybe its the huge riff.🤘

beside Pentagram i know all bands but still just hit the target on 6. Confused Electric Wizard with The Obsessed and Sleep with High on Fire. anyhow, cool selection! kind of cool how Black Sabbath all bands smell and still don't sound anything like them with their riff patterns.

Made it interesting twist with the Church Within track. Most people I've met dig Lunar Womb more . I guess cause thats a big label album but fuck that album rips! The riffs and the time changes! That and the Solitude track. Great list! D.F.F.D
I love doom and consider myself fairly well-versed in the genre, but as soon as riff #2 started I thought, "Aw shit. I don't know this, but I bet it's some classic band I never checked out like Cathedral or something..." Never been so pleased with myself over a random guess. lol.
Man, I'm so not Doom metal which is sad since Candlemass is one of my favorite bands. All I knew instantly was Solitude and, of course, Sabbath. Should have known Solitude Aeturnus since Robert Lowe is my favorite Candlemass vocalist and I like all of his numerous bands.

If anyone is from the Dmv area there is a huge DOOM fest in Fredrick 20-30 doom bands play up there all night . The obsessed plays every year and pentagram did last year
