Knowing a hidden gem like this game will open your eyes towards the uninspiring AAA such as Assassin Creed (yeah that one specifically). The more people focused on games like those, the more you get a game like that... then the endless cycle repeat, we criticize any entry of the ubisoft, hoping it to change, then we are ultimately dissapointed

@@vvatchout1 yea it's more similar to Ori. still I would recommend you to play Journey if you are into the theme of self-discovery, Wonder, and life. it is one of a kind with simple mechanics and grand level designs.

Not disappointing tho, Trexs likely had incredible eyesight and a powerful sense of smell. Its fascinating how much we have learned about those amazing creatures since the films were made. It could also be easily retconned as being caused by the animals not being dinosaurs but genetic hybrids with strange quirks caused by the DNA that was mixed in to complete their sequences. :).

This type of coverage is why I come to you. This was completely off of my radar until now. I'm about 2 hours in and feeling that Journey vibe I've missed so much. The game is also absolutely stunning in motion. The Art Direction combined with the music is worth the price of admission alone.

Great review on a game I was already excited to play (preordered the physical edition online) but now I am seriously hyped with all this new info! I was looking forward to the traversal and exploration side of The Pathless, but the way you explained the bosses' mechanics in the world and in combat has me hooked! Indies need to survive. Steam is great, but it won't match Epic's store's cut. Plus, if the game was made in Unreal Engine, the cut is even lower.

@@mikepictor You can use controllers on any Apple device nowadays. I use the DS 4 with iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.

I remember watching your vids back in div1 days, and you have just gotten better and better at what you do. These reviews are just so damn good. I like to just watch them for no other reason than hear you tear a game apart which deserves it, or here, where a game deserves all the praise it can get. @@Ceece20 It's difficult not to just write off these titles, they may as well be PlayStation exclusives at that point. If it's exclusively, contractually only available on one service then frankly I don't consider it to be "on PC". It's not a practice I can support and I don't care what treats they want to throw at me to justify it.

Because Epic games are greedy bunch of cunts who buy the exclusive rights to any and all remotely interesting new releases, like this game, forcing you to buy it through the Epic game store rather than giving you a choice in the matter. Epic Games: why we can't have nice things (on PC)

No one's saying it's necessarily a bad idea for a dev to make their game exclusive, but on the user side of things, exclusives are objectively a bad thing because they shift development incentives away from what players want towards what publishers want. Also the Epic Games Store is still the laughing-stock of online game stores in terms of features. Not just compared to steam or GOG, it's true even when compared to Battlenet, Uplay, Origin and so on.

Console Exclusives tend to be designed around the console they are exclusive to, their control scheme is built around the controls of the console, the specs of the console define what the game can do, moreover, console exclusives are generally either first party or funded by the console maker. Meanwhile, Epic's first round of "Exlcusives" came from people's Steam Wishlists. Frankly, even if Epic was even or ahead of Steam on the features department, that first round of exclusives would have soured me on ever actually buying anything from Epic. That poisoned the well pretty badly for me.

This kind of exclusivity is not something I can bring myself to encourage. I'd maybe get something through Epic if it was sufficiently cheaper than Steam but not because it's the only place I can buy it. That is bullshit.

On the website it says the "adaptive trigger effect is required"... but then it also says the game is available on PS4. I wonder if that means you have to have the DualSense to play it on PS4? I'm confused. Maybe that mechanic is simply scrapped on PS4? If that's the case why is the "adaptive trigger mechanic REQUIRED"

I just finished it and finally watched your review. This is absolutely one of those very rare 11/10 experiences. There was something so meditative about the experience throughout. I try to summarize it to friends by referencing all the games it amalgamates and it is really a stunning combination. Shadow of the Colossus meets Ico meets The Last Guardian meets Journey meets...a rhythm game like Sayonara Wild Hearts. Everything about it was enthralling. I was moved to get all the Lightstones and glad I did, there's an extended ending if you do. A fitting send-off.

@@hrod1026 Epic Games Store is probably one of the worst store fronts on PC I've ever had to deal with. Disregarding it's ethical decisions on platform exclusivity vs Steam, it's just dreadful to work with. Trying to find installed game files through the app itself is a nightmare, it hogs a non-insignificant amount of resources as compared to Steam, and it has this baffling way of downloading/installing games (doing both at the same time which leads to atrocious download times despite your internet speed). I got a free copy of Godfall from buying an AMD GPU earlier in the year and installing it was so painful that I didn't think it was worth it. I didn't think installing a FREE (originally $60) game was worth the trouble of going through the Epic Games storefront.
