Been part-time freelancing for about 2 years now sand it's been great. You're right though, exercising your mental is super important, especially during the slow times. Shit will give you imposter syndrome real quick.
@@dillondre fortunately/ unfortunately haha I have a day job too as a content creator so luckily my time gets spent either way. Working a 9-5 AND freelancing tho is a mission in itself lol now I get into the rut of "how successful could I be if I quit my job". It's the stable high salary that keeps me there lol
@areeltrip uk i was once in that same situation years back, but I had to just ask my self one day “is the amount of money this job is paying me worth not going all in on my goals”
@@dillondre facts. Do you make as much as you did? I imagined it's hard to hit 6 figures when you first start freelancing. Plus I got 3 kids & a wife so can't jump ship like that yet lol
@areeltrip I make more money now then i did at a 9-5 job, still haven’t touched 6 figures yet hopefully soon though! And I totally understand you on that, that’s why when I started I didn’t just quit my job and poof I became self employed like everyone on RU-vid says they did, I as well have a wife and a kid so that route for me wasn’t a option lol but I took it slowly and sure enough having more then one stream of income is what helped me significantly
I'm curious how you send a message to production companies for jobs that don't seem desperate, It's officially hit the slow season for me, not getting many inquiries at the moment so I'm about to message production companies to get my name out there and build relationships, about to spend the next few days drafting up a message, any tips you have would be appreciated man!
I feel you on that!! So for me when I reach out to these companies I personally approach them with wanting to help out with anything that I can do weather it be being a PA or even A Gaffer, just recently my last job I just did it was for a feature film the production company was looking for a cinematographer who has IMBD credits which I don’t have, but I still reached out anyways and said hey I don’t have IMBD Credits BUT I do have basic knowledge of being a camera operator doing these types of jobs, I have this camera package if in any way I can be of help I love to join this project and help out in anyway I can, a week rolled by and the production company reached back out and hired me as a gaffer, before even hitting the send button on a email I first do my research on this company, I look through there website, social media pages etc I look at the type of work they do or pay other videographers to do, and I make sure it’s even relevant to what I do, you don’t want to hit a PC up who is looking for videographers or already have a team of videographers who do TV work yet the type of work you do is irrelevant to TV production, so making sure what they do/want is something you already do or have experience in, no one wants there time wasted, So for me my emails kinda look like this, “Hi my name is DillOnDre I’m a local filmmaker, and I’m looking to do this project with you or help in any existing way I can, I been currently working on so and so type of projects and I’m aiming to land more of this type of project that I see you do or are offering, I would like to work with you or meet up because I’m wanting the experience or I’m interested in this type of work, or even I have a idea I could share, here is a link to my highlight reel/portfolio check it out if you have time, I’m looking forward in hearing back from you and maybe even grabbing a coffee! You can reach me via email, phone etc etc Best regards DillOnDre then I leave like a link to my social media or anything they can find me to see that I’m a real person and not someone who’s spamming or trying to waste time, I even actually shared a link to my RU-vid before lol and got hired because they seen my BTS Vlogs off RU-vid lol This is sometimes how I go about reaching out to these PC this is actually what I did to land my feature film job I just did and it worked out for me, maybe this isn’t 100% the right way but it has worked for me in the past and I have gotten jobs by doing something like this! I am trying to upgrade from version 3.0 to 4.0 on my fx6 and it won’t do it ! I’ve erased it twice from my card when I go and click on the upgrade nothing happens when it’s on slot B . I am sick today and can’t concentrate much I might have to go by tomorrow to the Hospital but I need help on upgrading thx
Hmmm so you have it already downloaded to your SD card, placed the SD Card in slot B and have your FX6 connected to a AC adapter? Did you make sure you have nothing else plugged into ur Fx6 like any microphones, monitors, SDI or HDMI Cables etc ?
