Tell me if this sounds familiar…
You know there’s something you need to do,
But you’re totally overthinking it.
You’re over-planning… over-researching… over-analyzing…
Instead of taking action, you’re stuck in the overthinking cycle of analysis paralysis.
You’re stuck.
Overthinking actually kills productivity because it dupes us into believing that we’re doing something worthwhile, when often we’re simply killing time with unnecessary ‘extras’. Not only that, we know from science (and experience) that overthinking can increase anxiety and stress.
So what can we do?
Well, we know (thanks to Parkinson’s Law) that we tend to fill the time we’re given - If you’re given a week, you’ll take a week. If you’re given a day, you’ll miraculously get it done in a day.
So, you can simulate a sense of urgency to prompt you into a state of greater attention and focus by giving yourself a deadline! You want it to be realistic yet still add just that little bit of pressure.
I use this technique all the time and can personally vouch that it works. :)

hapiness is a byproduct of your state of being & it's temporary, what's eternal is peace & joy which created by the unsullied peace within ourselves. for attain to that state you must have clarity over thy self. How Keen your awareness is deciding how much you attained to that blissful state regardless of whatever happening around you or whatever happening within the mind. Meditation is the key🙏🏼💗. eternal & true solution for all individual human problem/illness/suffering is individual transformation. don't seek for any temporary releases & tit bits(delusional tips) for being happy. It's just going to decieve yourself in time. seek for permanent solution. you can only find it by observing your karmas(unconscious actions) by body, mind & emotions. Find the source of suffering & that is ignorance. Thus enlightened yourself by self realization. one love🙏🏼

I tried giving myself a deadline for my personal projects. For me it's finding the motivation for taking action and following through. And being consciously aware of my subconscious behavior like self sabotage like distractions, sleep deprivation, procrastination and binge watching RU-vid as a form of addiction for dopamine release. I also think it has to do with my depression, anxiety, perfectionism, self esteem and self confidence and self worth. I will do my best to pray, meditate, take action and be conscious of my actions and inaction.

I am here to answer your prayer. It's ADHD. I know all of what you described: First hand. I remember praying, and meditating. Mindfulness, affirmations, all of it. I would set an alert that would ring on the hour. Then I would repeat affirmations for like 10 minutes, and then spend another 5 minutes planning out the other 45 minutes. And then I would methodically negotiate with myself for 5 minutes of concentration, which might work the first three times, but then my brain would go on a full on total revolt. And then the alert would go off, and I would repeat affirmations for like 10 minutes, and then spend another 5 minutes planning out the other 45 minutes... I would be in this loop, for weeks, which just was devastating to me, and then I would be in variants of this loop for something like... oh, let's say 20 years. Then I learned that I have ADHD, (because my daughter was diagnosed, and then she confronted me about it,) and that my brain does not work like the other people's brains, and I went on a different journey, other than thinking "I'm doing something wrong." When you look at it from the angle of, "Hang on, there's something different going on for me, my brain doesn't have the same equipment," then you can stop thinking that what works for other people will necessarily work for you, and then narrow your search for ADHD-friendly guidance -- which is really, really different than what works for people who are not ADHD. The lady's advice in this video won't help you. You'll set a dead-line, and it'll make the lovely whooshing sound as it flies over your head. This guidance will work for people who are not ADHD -- they have "voice of mind" on their side. But it won't work for you. Your inner experience of thoughts is not the same as their inner experience of thoughts. You will have to find a different way. We kind of *have* to find ways of aligning ourselves with genuine interest -- it's not a luxury, or even an ideal -- it's a requirement.

@@LionKimbro Thank you for advice, sharing your experience and insight on this condition/situation. I agree with you about this video. I think that we could have PTSD and low self esteem, depression and anxiety. I have been recommended EMDR/brainspotting and somatic therapy and indirectly Yoga and expressive dancing. I have tried prayers meditation and positive affirmations too but they were limitations to helping me stay focused and motivated to follow through. I've tried giving myself incentives/rewards but it doesn't always work. I'm also interested in learning how to do self hypnosis to rewrite my mental programming and limiting beliefs. I'll keep you posted on my healing journey. Godspeed to our healing!

This definitely works, I use to give myself a deadline to complete my sketchbooks and my productivity jumped from drawing 20 pages across a month to 60 pages a week. I ended up finishing multiple sketchbook. Will admit, it can be tiring having a deadline all the time so that's why laid off a bit.

Interesting. Pressure and deadlines make me worse. If I can't go slow and take it in small steps I won't do it at all. I might overthink sometimes but I want to enjoy the journey.

By following this, most of the time you'll focus on just getting things done. If your deadline is too short, the quality of your work suffers. Don't spend too much time thinking, and don't make your deadlines too short.

Psychology is just scratching the past to find patterns that worked towards success. Technically those patterns belong to times that's irrelevant now. Times I mentioned is not "The Time", they are personal situations, social or family or business situations. If you take old patterns and apply now, you may get at best the old results in my opinion not allowing us to evolve. Relax and let go what's bothering you. Whatever that comes to you after deep relaxation is the best that could happen. This is the only way to negate over thinking process. If we keep limiting our thoughts forcefully to some unnecessary deadlines, trust me, our minds would breed new kind of disasters.

My wife is an overthinking worrier. She would create scenarios to worry about every possibility. She also creates urgency herself! If the deadline is next month, it must be done by yesterday.

Wise words that's what I do for the most part, but don't forgot when that deadline comes just because you was ready then be understand the other may not be ready. I set the timeline I did all what I felt needed to be done and got nothing so I moved on madly but God thankfully showed me it's because she probably not ready not because we are over. He reminded me of a book, now it may been her best friend it may of been her but at the time I was 80% sure it was her the most I've ever been, told the chefs if she leaves tell her too pop up before she goes. She was upstairs work and was going to be an hour or so and my shift finished, never left before 9pm was gone by 6pm. I got so angry she couldn't just walk up literally one flight off stairs and knock on a door yet she couldn't even do that simple thing. He should me how hard that would actually been to do, how hard it is for a normal person and how impossible it is for a shy girl to do

I’ve learned recently that anytime I set 6 month goals, it FLOPS!!!! But when I do 3 month goals, I reach my goal and THEN SOME. I’m learning to use this method now in creating my business and I def feel more centered and taking more action compared to 6 months. Because it’s true, I WILL use that time to just overthink and then not complete anything. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Along with setting deadlines I find writing out your thoughts helps a lot so you’re not over thinking but kind of develop an “outsider’s” view of your thoughts when you materialize it in written form.
