After opening a film lab, this has become the number one problem for me while trying to streamline our workflow. I'm actually surprised how many people don't do this.

Well shit, lol. I just sent some film off to a lab last week, including some 120, and I don't know if I did this or not, and now I feel bad, lmao. Thank you for the tip!! Such a small but important detail.

I tried to find out online why we fold the paper... ended up learning that the seals used to have a flavor for some brands!

I totally believe that! I have totally licked a very expired roll of Kodak and I swear it tasted like peppermint.

Operating a commercial lab since '89 I can assure you there will be more little annoyances that show up regularly. 120 film loaded into cameras backwards causing them to spring out of your grip and land on the darkroom floor sending you on your hands and knees groping blindly. Twin-checks that go missing in the darkroom and wind up on the front of your shirt. 135 film rewound backwards making your film leader retriever useless. 110 film in any context. The 15th ring of hell reserved for disc film. The hole in the pit of your stomach when your roller transport processor makes that banging hammering sound because you though there was still some life in that leader card. Chasing after an elusive D-Min that's out of control when the HD-LD and LD is perfectly is fine. Wondering how much life the under-replenished developer has because the chem delivery is late. Locating extra tanks for used fixer that keeps accumulating because the de-silvering is on the fritz. Finding out from your downstairs neighbour that your building's copper and iron drains don't like C-41 bleach at all. Learning that Kodak hasn't been KODAK for a long time and that Fuji HATES film. But it's all worth it!

God I love this industry.

A *very* short piece of invisible tape, if someone MUST. I curse every time I open a roll in the dark and realize it's wrapped like twice over in tape. UGH.

You know, I've never heard Anyone talk about this. Great PSA, man. I develop my film and have never noticed before. Apparently, I've been doing it right completely by accident. Ha.

If you need to use some tape to seal the roll, at least create a lip for peal it, if I have to use tape, I always fold under a bit of tape and stick it to itself to leave a bit of grip for remove the tape.

Where’s that Ikigai link?! Oh and am I missing something, or like half of the time Kodak’s licky-sticky is just licky and icky but not so sticky? Been using rubber bands since the start since I’m never able to trust it. Maybe it’s me who didn’t understand the doohickey and should just read a wiki, or is it really just that finicky?

So sorry, it’s posted now! In the description.

Sometimes the sticky tape can be a little finicky, that’s why I recommend rubber bands! They work well and don’t get in the way at the lab.

I don't wanna lick it! But I do. It's a lick from the past, you just gotta
