You have now joined the cancer warriors. I became one 4 years ago, mine had metastasized and they gave me 1 1/ 2 years but here I am. My grandmother had lung cancer that went everywhere: small intestines, stomach, an ovary. But her doctors and their treatments kept her comfortable and traveling, dancing on cruises for 12 years. Just like how diabetes is a shift in lifestyle and HIV is no longer a death sentence, cancer treatment and management makes massive strides every year It'll never feel good to have the diagnosis. That is amazing. I have 3B large cell neuroendocrine lung cancer (agressive) that so far is not found all over my body. I cannot believe how well your grandmother did! Good for her. I hope I get some time too. Already did all chemo and radiation. Waiting to see where it goes next....
@@kathleenmcbride1471 I'm rooting for you, sister! The spread from her lungs to everywhere else did take about 10 years; once it filled her stomach that was the end of the line. But she was kept very comfy through that decade and some change Our last trip we went to Maui. She got out of her wheel chair, with her oxygen on, and we all took turns dancing with her around the fountain of our hotel to live music I'm sure she hurt more than she let on. She was still in some shock when palliative care made its way to the table. It's almost like her care was so well she didn't realize she was dying It is stunning how far treatment and pain management has come, and far it will continue to go. Keep the faith; doctors and scientist around this whole Eden we call Earth are working to help you ♥

In the US, you have the luxury for treatment first and pay later. Please apply for social security disability ASAP since you have a terminal disabling disease. I'm going through stage IV cancer myself. Godspeed my friend!🙏🏼

In my country as well people who are immigrants or don’t have resources to pay for medical care receive free treatment/treatment at a reduced price. That isn’t a problem, it’s quite the opposite. The problem is that your country exploits the need to live of its citizens :/ here for example, with insurance or if you apply for medical care, the treatment is either free or costs very little. It’s not moral to ask people to pay out of their pocket just to get a chance to live another day… free or accessible care should be for everyone, and medicine should not be done for profit
My mom had menginomga brain tumor,brain surgery, radiation and rehabilitation. I think it took around seven months for her to go through all of it by the time she got back to herself and she was 72 at the time. I have Multiple Sclerosis with the majority of my lesions in the brain going on 24 years with still mobile,still taking photos and now videos. Listen to your neurologist and his team as well as your oncologist team. You will be okay, science has come a long way! Stay Strong 💪🏾
Amazing you are allowed to drive with your neurological issues. In the UK you’d have to stop whilst you have treatment and for 12 months afterwards (in case you had a sudden issue whilst driving). Good luck to you with the treatment!
I was wondering the same thing. I currently know someone in NC, who has brain cancer and history of seizure and is not allowed to drive, even on anti-seizure medication he had another one. I wonder if no one told him this. Surely, he wouldn't be so relaxed and talking on YT driving knowing this fact.
You keep fighting this, you should be amazed on how fast treatment will get this under control, my mom had small-cell lung cancer that spread to the brain she had i think 24 knits in her brain, you have every right to ask for help, you DO deserve it, the steroid will make you agitated for sure and might be hard to get good sleep, do not stock up on drinks and some food because your taste will change constantly , you might get thrush in the mouth, this is a very hard thing to deal with and in your videos you seem to be taking this better than i would, lots of people care for you and want to help you, you will have your ups and downs but hang in there , you might need a driver soon when you start radiation , i hope you have somebody local that will help you at home, try to eat as much as you can, thank you for sharing this with us.

Hi. Joe here I am a neurosurgery RN. I am familiar with gamma knife treatments. Had many patients who had those treatments. Most for acoustic neuromas. Recovery is quick.MD and PhD in physics run treatments. They can really pinpoint treatment area. I wish you the best. Joe
Wishing you all the best and will be thinking of you as you go through your treatment. It is 'good' news that your cancer is non-small cell as opposed to small cell. My mum died from small cell lung cancer which had metastasized to her brain and adrenal glands, then later to her heart and arteries, so I know how aggressive that particular type is; she also was on Dexamethasone and Keppra as she had suffered a seizure which is what led to an initial scan and diagnosis. The points in your favour are that you are young and determined and are now having your treatment being arranged, so best of luck with that. Take care of yourself in the mean time and try to find the best diet and lifestyle which will help fortify your body and fight the cancer along with your treatment.

Things I wish I’d done when I got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer: gone on disability sooner. I wish I had realized that life was different now. I expected myself to work as if nothing happened. Wrong. I need more rest all the time. Mentally I was very affected. Still living with cancer after almost 5 years. I work about a fourth of what I used to. I have stronger focus tho on the things that are important. But I no longer run 200% like I used to. And that’s OK. Sending love and support.
Metabolic therapy. Look into it and it will mean all the difference. Doesn’t replace your current treatment plan, but will improve outcomes and make preexisting treatments much more doable.

Im sorry to hear this. My wife did gamma knife and has helped keep things at bay (glioblastoma), coupled with temode oral chemo. I really hate to tell you this but driving may be out of the question soon, so maybe prepare for that.
Christopher it is illegal to drive in Wisconsin for 90 days after you have a seizure or other material neurological event. Please stop driving until you get to 91 days, and then only if your doctors clear you to drive. I know it’s hard to give up driving as it’s so linked with our sense of independence and control in our lives But aside from the state law, you don’t want to put others at risk by driving before you have had time to find out if the medication you are taking to prevent seizures is 100% effective for you. It takes time to determine for each person the proper dose of anti seizure medication and how effective it will be.

Obviously the doctors said it was fine for you to keep driving and it can help to distract yourself when discussing something so serious and impactful - although as you have neurological effects, do consider being driven instead to prevent injury to yourself and others. All the best.

Im on 2000mg of Keppra and 400mg of dilantin now for my seizures, it's so hard because people don't understand the emotional trauma that comes with these sorts of things. My first seizure was 10 mins long, and I was on life support for 7 days. The biggest part of all of these things are getting over you own demons in your head. It's so hard to be positive like you are being when going through such a terrifying experience, and it really helps me a lot with my own demons so i thank you. I am scared to see the doctor and get my official diagnosis, so far I just randomly developed epilepsy. I am coming up on 1 year no seizures in July, I had 8 in one year before. I hope you keep posting videos because you help me a lot with how positive you are despite. Thank you. Much love.
Look, I’m not being “supportive” or “non-supportive” but I’m going to give you some compassionate advice based on what I know. I’ve been in Medicine all my life, and I’m a healthcare provider. Non-SCLC is good as far as prognosis, but the fact that you’re Stage IV is bad. It can be put into remission with the advances in cancer therapeutics. If you can be put into a clinical trial, you should. Do it. Now. Don’t go back to the cartoonish hospital whose equipment was broken. Stay with large academic medical centers; they don’t just dismiss you because the equipment is broken for a moment. That’s unacceptable, period. For your own health don’t go hospital-hopping around. Your clinicians want to help you, but lack of info and access to your info HURTS you. Not all electronic health records communicate, and continuity of care is disrupted. Stick with your medical center and hospitals affiliated with it. Help us help you. Do the responsible thing and go where your doctors know you.
Be glad you’re getting financial support. Some of us are going broke because of our cancer treatment and inability to work. I’ve burned through so much money since August that it’s ridiculous. My givesendgo has raised a whopping $1100.

The humanity you displayed in your video is a catalyst for others who fundamentally want to help people but don't necessarily know how. Whether you "deserve" the donations you received is irrelevant in the minds of everyone who donated. I wish I knew what to say or how to help. I'm glad you've found such strong support and positivity, and I'm hopeful for your treatment, as you seem to be in your medical professionals. For what it's worth, if your doctors haven't already made the suggestion - when my mother was undergoing treatment for her lymphoma, a few types of hard candies were suggested that might help get through the mouth feels: ginger, lemon drops, and/or maybe Werther's candies? Anyway, yeah. Sorry I don't feel I can offer much at the moment. But in my little tangential existence to yours, I'm genuinely eager to see you do well, in whatever you may end up doing. Try not to feel too burdened and obligated to make anything specific happen in return to the community, and in any specific timeline. I'm confident you'll do your best when you're able, but for now do your best to fight for your health and maintain your strength. You'll get through this, and when you do, it sounds like you're already being set up to fly high and go far. Godspeed. I'm looking forward to where you'll go.

i had a meningioma on left side of brain at the top & a paraganglioma started on right side of my brain near my brain stem & goes up to my temporal lobe … i was put on keppra & dex plus a dopamine blocker before they did my gamma knife treatment …. the treatment itself was easy as pie & the side effects were minimal …. this was done in july 2022 … my tumours are stabilized & i’m back to normal brain wise … i have several other rare health issues that are being treated with stabilization in mind …. keep fighting & don’t sweat about the gamma knife …. take care!
