This evening, a Super27 owned by IFL Group made its departure from Kansas City back to Laredo. You sure can hear the difference in noise between the #2 (central) JT8D-17 engine and the two (#1 and #3 engines) JT8D-217s used on the MD80s. The Super27 STC is an attempt to reduce noise, and does by quite a bit, but the single #2 engine overpowers the rest!
Enjoy this gorgeous-sounding B722 departing Kansas City!

God I miss watching 727s take off. In about 2005-2010 I frequently got done work at 11p and went to sit at the end of the runway at CYHM and watch one after another take off when Kelowna Flightcraft and Cargojet had a ton of them. I just played this video through speakers to reminisce lol. The bass of the engines used to magnify as they climbed out and it would rattle my car.

215 was my favorite of the 3 727s at the Group. FYI, both of the Supers had a -17 center engine and not a -9. Great airplane and one I’ll never forget!

That’s awesome man! Thank you for the correction. Did you used to fly them?

@@masonmccall6591 Yes, I was a 727 FE for them.

If this bird was at full power during takeoff, can it's noise from the 3-holer beat the F-35 Lightning II at full afterburner with ONLY one engine at over 40,000 lbs of thrust?

Afterburners will always be significantly louder than even the most noisy civilian engines.
@CaliforniaCentralCoastAviation
@@masonmccall6591 That's what I'm talking about, man! So in other words, does this mean that only just one F-35 jet engine (at full afterburner) can even beat all 4 of the oldest prototype 707/DC-8 turbojet engines (the JT3C's too)?

@@CaliforniaCentralCoastAviation The JT3Ds are still very loud on those jets you mentioned, but as I said, any type of afterburner will always be louder than any turbofan engine due to the fact that it’s essentially a low end rocket engine type concept. Fuel is burned in the exhaust which creates the flame and therefore the extremely loud noise.

It reminds me of the con air us marshals plane. Speaking of noisy take offs the loudest i can remember growing up on base was TWO F-4D's on takeoff over the house on full afterburner. Goddamn. It VERY FU++ING LOUD. GE J79. Tiger by the tail
