I knew beforehand that Anna could pose problems for Swiatek because of her taking the ball early and hitting it flat with pace on the fast court in Dubai but I thought Iga is still likely to win. Anna deserves to win the title having beaten 3 of the top 10 players in the draw.

Indeed, Iga should have had complimented Kalinskaya on her win, but maybe she was still finding it hard to process what Kalinskaya did to her, especially since she was such a big favorite in this match with 85% probability of winning and she was expected to win the Desert double.

Iga has been corky. Her western forehands need more time to swing, Anna was able to rush Iga.

Iga is usually not gracious in defeat. She loses to Elena or Jelena and there is always something wrong with her. It's ultimately tarnishing her reputation and ultimate likeability.

It was just that this is the first time she had played vs Kalinskaya and Kalinskaya's game is best suited for the fast courts of Dubai. I am confident though that Swiatek will win against Kalinskaya the next time they will meet, especially on clay courts.
