@@potentialmpact5429it lines up when you thinking about it, an old man crippled by a beast, devoting whats left of his life to plunging a harpoon through its heart
If I had a nickel for every time a video game adapted a version of Moby Dick in a vaguely-fantasy setting with badass voice acting in the last year, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice
@Alex-fb3ckhard to say, but every character we can summon from the golden messages ( except Melina?) are Tarnished, I think… maybe. So I’m just gonna assume he is a tarnished
Stub your toe? Must've been Bayle's fault. Lose ten dollars? Bayle must've been responsible for this! Didn't get the winning numbers on a scratch ticket? Bayle must've rigged it! Trip over a carpet? Bayle. Get one-shot by a boss? Bayle. Choke on your drink? CURSE YOU BAAAAAAAYLE!
I lowkey did this after playing jedi Survivor lmao. Just kept blaming all of life's problems on the final boss Gonna do that with Bayle now CURSE YOU BAYLE! VILE BAAAAYYYLLLE
Bayle is hands down my favorite fight in the whole of Elden Ring because Igon is here with me hurling insults and harpoons, Igon makes the fight a 1000% more epic.
“BEHOLD A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR! AND I .. IGON!!” Bro hyped us up so damn much 😭 like yeah I failed but this dude is the real deal ! And with my help we gonna whoop your ass & lord knows I needed his help😂 those little moments where bro would get his attention so I could pop a flask or healing incantation were clutch asf . And I made sure he got the killing blow .
@@bdbgh Igon is the type of NPC that does the perfect way of convincing the player to use summons in a boss fight! I think Siegward in DS3 with Yhorm is similar from what I heard from others though I couldn't do his questline.
He crafted dragonslaying harpoons one by one with the last ounces of his strength, and dragged his broken body all the way up the mountain, even as he lay dying in the mud, in anticipation for this moment. According to his armor, Igon was a desperately poor scavenger who had finally found meaning in his life through dragon communion, but Bayle absolutely destroyed him. I love how he says: “Behold! A true drake warrior, AND I, Igon!” It’s the sweetest compliment from such a badass.
You can tell his voice actor is absolutely insane, by the delivery of those last lines. You can tell that Igon is on the verge of crying tears of joy having finally defeated Bayle. Unironically, I think Igon has the best voice acting in the entire series, hands down.
I'm still fighting Bayle, and everytime I summon him a shiver goes doen my spine Damn I get even distracted at times What an amazing work! Edit : I got him a few minutes ago, 10/10 would do it again💕
At first, i thought Igon was an insane old man who would invade me for a dragonstone. But it turns out he is a insane old man that wants revenge on all drakes, so he hypes us to beat Bayle, and all he asks is to be our comrade and participate in killing Bayle, literal chad.
He doesn’t care about finding Miquella or becoming Elden Lord or saving the world. He has no higher aspirations other than to kill this one dragon he hates so fucking much before peacing out of life completely. He doesn’t even care if either you or him deals the finishing blow, all that matters is that there’s one less dread dragon in the world and its all the better for it.
It's refreshing for an NPC to not talk themselves up, berate you and then be useless. Igon instead hypes YOU up and is actually useful. What a chad. Best VA in Elden Ring too, such passion!
That's something I've always felt Sekiro did a lot better than the Souls games. Actors putting their entire soul into their performances, giving them the larger than life personalities that contrast the misery of the world around them
@@1missingI really think this speech is better, Igon literally hypes you up, like “I am strong and all but THIS guy, this guy is the real deal, you are screwed bayle”
This guy goes so hard. Especially once you read his armor and realize that he was a cowardly scavenger until he finally found an honorable calling as a dragon slayer. Who would’ve thought my man had balls so huge they’d make Greyroll blush
The first time i faced Bayle, Igon yelled his second set of lines during the phase transition. It was the coolest thing I think I have ever witnessed in a video game
@@ExtraStage300it puts him to closure but again it's Fromsoft, he dies. Though a relieving death and not a tragic one. My guy's source for living with ruined limbs is pure hatred against Bayle
@@xylonus Closure is literally the most satisfying ending someone can get. I think I would happily face the reaper knowing I accomplished everything I set out to do.
I've always felt like the voice acting in Elden ring was super monotone for every character. This might be the first character in the game I've heard emotion in at all, and he went above and beyond.
@@witherwarrior1148 to be fair, generally, emotionless is the vibe they're going for. most characters in elden ring are very high and mighty, very full of themselves. monotone fits, no?
@@Desinole83 You're right, but I just find it odd that not one character (that I can think of atm) was written to have lots of emotion. It gave the characters no variety in my opinion. It was like they all had the same personality.
@@witherwarrior1148 I dunno, alexander and blaidd are both very well voice acted, and they may not be as emphatic about the way they speak but their VA's put a lot of emotion into their lines I think. not to mention shabriri.
@@witherwarrior1148 also sorry to spam you but I just thought of 2 more characters with pretty underrated VA's, those being the dung eater and blackguard big boggart. they're both so unique and so well done.
@@ITBEurgava Yeah and he admits to it. But his forced hearty laughs and all, I feel, are an attempt to distract himself from the reality of his situation. And he knows he’s not exactly the ideal drake warrior- he’s a poor scavenger just trying to find meaning in his life. He’s not dishonest about his shortcomings, but he kind of is trying to distract from them, I feel.
I thought he was referring to himself as a true drake warrior but nope. Dude was hyping YOU up as Bayle's true slayer, not him. He was there knowing he could be the distraction, support or even the sacrifice to kill Bayle and he accepted it.
Did you know? That's because you can actually hear him scream "Curse you, Bayle!" from the bottom of the mountain before he even spawns in. My source? Trust me bro.
Richard Lintern the performer/actor that you are. I hope you read this and know what an amazing job you've done. Absolutely blown away by the sheer emotion you deliver here! Wow
The Priestess says he’s her favorite out of all the dragonslayers. I can see why. Even wounded, wrecked, and bodily broken, Igon has the soul of a dragon.
That quiver in his voice for his last line really sells how scared and horrified Igon was, but he crawled up that mountain and faced Bayle down anyway. What a hero.
This mans delivery made me change my build. I was a mage, I used a larval tear just so I could melee this great beast side by side with A TRUUUEE DRAKKEE WARRIOR!!
I’m not a fan of using summons in souls games (I don’t care if others use them it’s just a personal thing) but like I had to summon igon for bayle like HOW COULD I NOT.
The best part is because he’s a summon that you pick up inside the arena (Like Alexander for the Fire Giant) he doesn’t add a multiplier to Bayle’s health.
@@masoncarothers6515I’ve noticed they do that for all the story related summons which is cool so you don’t screw yourself into a harder fight. Hornsent is like that with Messmer and also Ansbach and Thiollier in final fight which is nice.
I'm playing through the DLC without using summons/ashes personally..but I couldn't deny Igon when he specifically asked me to summon him, so I made an exception. And fuck was it worth it.
Honestly, I already loved Igon just for the fact that he finally gave me the opportunity to put that altered head piece on my builds ronin armor, which I wanted to do since it was just the “ragged set.” Then we get hit with these over-the-top lines, his quest line taking us uo a jagged mountain with some seriously ominous buildup and ambience, all culminating in an incredible, brutal boss fight with awesome lore implications, to which he adds yet more excitement(and a bit of hilarity) to an already epic battle with his scenery chewing… I swear even dying to bayle as much as I did wasn’t too rage inducing for me, just because every time I died, even at the peak of my frustration, all I could think/say was, “CUUUUURSE! YOOOOU! BAAAAAAYLE!!!”
The showcase is great, but I personally love the instance where you realize you're out of blue flasks and just turn around and start jump-attacking. I could almost see your character shrug their shoulders.
hahaha yeah I totally forgot to reallocate and was like oh whoops 🤣 there's also the phase transition where I realized Bayle was targeting Igon and I just decided to watch lol
I believe Igon has his own greatbow ash of war called Igon's Drake Hunt! You can get it after you defeat Bayle with him, back where you saw him after the jagged peak drake.
@@julpples i found out that just yesterday after finding his corpse (rip Igon), the tarnished also performs a shout but still Igon has his own unique roar that i noticed. Thanks for adding to this!
@@hiduck8247 they go for european actor for souls games specially bcs it's fits the tone of the Game, this actors do theatre, have works in tv and movies and other types of shows, they have a lot of experience in acting, thats why their performance of voice acting in media are really good, in the case of Igon(Richard Lintern) he has a lot of experience in the areas i said that explains how he gave that great voice and he even give Igon a crack in his voice with his last line, btw for what we know Miyazaki is with the voice actors to help the voice direction along with the person in command of directing the voice acting
Need the VA, Richard Lintern, to read Ahab's "To the last, I grapple with thee; From Hell's heart, I stab at thee; For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!"
I miss that mechanic a lot hahaha, and I am a Monster Hunter player after all. There's so many dragons and beasts in this game, the mechanic would be super rewarding!
I think Bayle and other bosses gets I-frames when they catch someone with a grab attack. Bayle grabbed Igon at that moment. I also wish they bring back cuttable tails from dragons
(spoiler warning). The fact that Igon only succumbs to the injuries inflicted by Bayle after Bayle is slain really shows how much hatred he had for Bayle. Not even being crippled stopped Igon from being summoned into Bayle's arena!
Thank you so much for compiling and sharing this. Richard Lintern gives the best performance I've heard since Gyobu Masataka Oniwa in Sekiro. And he just keeps going on, his voice never faltering.
