@@rosaparks8688 he's only grown into the artist he was making Igor this isn't his final evolution even though I haven't heard this album I've heard sonically it's crazy its always dope when artists have the ability to Express themselves through their art & not a label giving them their image.
i think this is just meant to say it's the first time he's been in a relationship that he feels passionate about. he does say on new magic wand 'you're not my first who gives a fuck' but it could be either.
@@zenny8877 I think it could definitely be seen as both. I think no matter if it’s intended or not, any understanding of lyrics is valid as long as there’s some plausibility to it
It’s even deeper than this. The 6th track (roughly the middle of the album) “new magic wand” is in the key of F (Phrygian but whatever). If we treat the Eb in the beginning of the album as the tonic resolution, the album creates a ii-V-I (i) progression, one of the most common chord progressions. This could indicate that the IGOR cycle repeating itself was inevitable even towards the beginning
I will say as a gay man who always fell for straight men, Tyler is fully correct. It's a painful painful cycle. It is sometimes better to walk away to prevent more pain
I feel you man im going though it right now but you dont even have to be gay to feel this. Just being madly in love with someone knowing it wont work out or wont happen just hurts and instead of ruining a friendship you keep it to yourself and let it all build up as pressure
Going through this exact thing with an ex. We still have chemistry, and spend lots of time together despite moving on trying to be friends. I feel like I’m slowly falling back in love however, and the endless loop has began
@@BlackShogun sometimes u just gotta say goodbye u know its going to be hard but theirs always option unless u wanna stay in the endless loop of pain but we all know thats gonna be hard so most of us choose the endless loop and it begins again
Well if your true intentions aren't to be friends but sticking around in hopes that an opportunity will present itself you're only torturing yourself. He set himself up for failure by allowing himself to develop feelings for someone who has a different preference.
@@BlackShogun u have to end the loop & let go there are lessons life has to teach u & if it's meant to be you'll end up together. one thing I learned about life is that if u aren't living in your truth you will never be happy that's how you'll know what is & isn't intended for u.
Pink Floyd did this for their 1979 THE WALL album. It ends with "Isn't this where-" on the last song and then when you listen to the album again it begins with "we came in?" creating a perfect loop and spreading the message of the wall never ending.
The wall and the dark side of the moon has the same never ending loop with the heart beat at the end and start of the dark side of the moon and isn’t this where- we came in with the wall from the trial to in the flesh? It’s just so genius
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have an album called Nonagon Infinity that can be played on an endless loop. They have motifs and riffs that show up in multiple songs and the last song blends perfectly back into the first. If you’re unfamiliar with them but you like Pink Floyd, give ‘em a listen! They’re all over the place, having done thrash metal, psych rock, garage rock, acoustic jazz (kinda), prog, microtonal music, and a whole lot more. Each album is a totally different experience. But since we’re talking about looping albums, check out Nonagon Infinity. It’s heavily inspired by early metal groups like Black Sabbath. It’s not too heavy, the vocals are very melodic, and it has a nice psychedelic vibe to it.
Awesome! Theres also an intentional loop in Pink Floyds The Wall. The Ending and Beginning flow seamlessly into each other. And if you listen to it closely and loud enough you hear a voice say: "Isn't this where -- we came in?" With the sentence split in half by the transition.
The loop is even crazier cause at the end of the song (are we still friends) it starts to die down, then at the beginning it’s full volume restarted. It’s like Tyler’s horniness is ramped up once more.
@@5spec no Japanese people don’t like to interact with people or randoms. It’s not normal and In Japanese society It improper to not act normal. He did it to people too don’t show one side. On your same narrative black people are dragged down too much in America. Stop the hate. Just like “Asian hate”. I’m Native American so a person of color and see your point but tell the whole story.
Similar story with Pink Floyd's "the wall". The album starts and ends with the same piece of music, and the last song ends with the words "isn't this where-", while the first song begins with the words "-we came in?"
Also with Dream Theater’s Octavarium. If i remember correctly, the first song starts on an F, and their are eight songs going up a whole step each time, ending on the final song landing back on the F
@@elektrik-fz4up Wow didn't know there was a sizeable crossover of people who were both Dream Theater and Tyler fans but judging by your upvotes there's more of us than I thought
This album is an absolute masterpiece- I can listen to the entire album right through & then over again, it’s so fluid & has great flow, storytelling, soundscapes, & lyrics
@@jacobbarnes1453 dude , relax , he is a great artist and I also listen to rock music like Pink Floyd and the Beatles who are amazing artists , there is good music everywhere
He's done things like this on all his albums. He would always make one big story that loops together in different songs. One reason I've loved this guy for about 7 years
love that on top of being an amazing album theres little things like this that isnt necessary and that a lot of people overlook but still help bring it all together
Lemon demon's spirit phone kinda some something similar. The album is about spooky otherworldly occult occurrences, beginning the album with the word die in lifetime achievement award, and ending with the word life in spiral of ants.
From the seasons of Dissect I've listened to, a loop or infinity seems to be a common theme. DAMN, Because the Internet, and Blonde are the ones that come to mind
Mac’s album Circles does the same thing with the musically inconclusive ending, that connects right back the very beginning hence going in circles with the drug problems he struggles with, it also connects to his previous album(Swimming) put them together and its Swimming in Circles:))
I absolutely love when artists take their time with albums and make them stories like this, nowadays I feel like artists just release albums with no structure, just a dump of music which isn’t their fault either bc online streaming does that
You're literally commenting on a video about a modern album that does this. Like all throughout the music industry's history, there have been artists that do it for the craft and others that do it for the money. In other words, there are plenty, plenty, plenty of artists today that are doing artistic shit like this. You just don't know where to look apparently.
@@g0tst1ngs I literally commented praising this album lmao maybe reread my comment but more s-l-o-w-l-y? I’m aware that there are a lot of artists that take you on journeys with their albums like MUSE, Melanie Martinez, bts, quiñ, Florence + the machine, etc but a lot of artists put unnecessary tracks in albums bc helloooo streaming is a thing so most people nowadays don’t buy physical albums nor do they listen to them completely in order in one go I literally said it isn’t their fault but it’s mostly western artists that do that and I know this bc this is my hobby, I look at info on music around the world lol maybe u should do that too
@@sheylapelaez9054 the ironic thing is you come off like you didn't understand my comment and still feel the need to be condescending lol. I was responding to the part where you said "nowadays I feel like artists just release albums with no structure". Nowhere in your original comment do you clarify that you're aware of a lot of artists still using structure so it came off as ignorant on your part and that's what I felt like correcting. Interesting how you begin and end your comment with condescension as if you need to put others down in order to feel more secure about yourself.
@@g0tst1ngs that is an interesting observation but I think you’re jumping to conclusions bc I didn’t mean for my comments to be condescending lol I was simply 1.) stating an opinion then 2.) restating my opinion in different words to get it across The only part that could be taken as condescending would be the s-l-o-w-l-y part but honestly it was just more frustration rather than malice
Theres definitely more to it. There are so many patterns of synths that i found myself playing this album in shuffle and it was felt like each song connnected to the next one. No matter how it was shuffled. The transitons at the end of each track as well as the start of each track are so flawless. So many permutations of how this album can be played. Thats why its great. When you can shuffle the album any which way and it still sound good, you know its great
I havent listened to Tyler since like 2012 and I brought this album up to a friend because someone had told me they really liked it and he said yeah it's alright on my bday he gifts me this album
I just wanna say, this channel is nonstop bangers. I have so much more appreciation for music I had never listened to before, and my Spotify playlist gets longer by the day. Thank you for that.
Here's a little interesting thing about IGOR , alot of the song on the album don't tend to come to an end, they don't fade out or transition into the next song. They end abruptly. I've always had a theory that Tyler did this intentionally to show that the love he has for this person in the album can never really come to a conclusion and all the abrupt endings are Tyler's emotions going all over the place
@@chasesimmons1418 He’s not gay or bi, he’s actually homophobic if you check out his earlier music. The bi stuff is just to cover his ass for his older homophobic music, which admittedly is cooler to me than his new music.
@@HatredInTheFlesh nah he’s actually bi. The whole album is about him falling love with a guy. Flower Boy was literally about him being himself and coming out. These are his words btw. Don’t judge someone by their previous lifestyle and also Tyler is the biggest troll on earth this the same guy that said he’ll have sex with a pregnant bitch and call it a threesome 💀
OMG, I love you. I feel like listening to full albums is a lost musical fan practice. But you're absolutely right that I always am left unresolved, despite how much that final track always makes me sing from my soul. I'm going to loop it today. Thank you. You just set the mood for the entire Tuesday. 💜💜💜
My favorite example of this is Donuts by J Dilla, one of the best instrumental hip hop albums ever. he produced it while on his death bed so the idea of the album looping forever is really beautiful to me, it's like he poured his soul into the beats and lived forever through them.
I’ve noticed this on a couple Mac albums. Circles in particular. I’m not sure how much final production he was involved in since it was released after his death, but that final song leaves you feeling like it’s missing something until you hear the first track follow it like a circle. RIP to a genius
If I had to guess it was probably a concept that Jon Bryon, the producer Mac was working with on the album, had talked about with him before he died then put into the album while he was putting finishing touches on it.
@@dmetriusmarch nah it was flower boy but only some songs. i didn’t really really get into him until igor came out but i have listened to his songs before igor.
I don't understand what you mean by "expect that one never stops"? How does this one stop? Or how does any "loop" stop? That's the point of a loop, is it continuously goes on forever..
@@johnbaca80 Tyler each song is cut off differently, except for the last and first track, while nonagon infinity the track continues from track one to track nine seamlessly, hence why it's called nonagon infinity (nonagon means 9 sided polygon)
Spirit Phone by Lemon Demon does the exact same thing! Spiral of Ants (closing track) is about an ant spiral, where an ant colony indefinitely walk in a spiral following the ant in front of them, just an infinite loop, and the song ends with static noise. the intro (Lifetime Achievement Award, which is about exploiting dead people for profit and literally reviving them) also starts with the noise.
One of my favorite albums is a musical loop, but not a narrative loop. Still, it's an incredible work of art. I'm talking about "Fantastic Planet" by Failure.
Wow! Less than a minute into the album and I was already digging it. And then I got to Segue 1 and damn. It’s very 90’s grunge but a super unique take on the genre. Thanks for mentioning it! Ever listen to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard? They’re a more current group that has a looping album called Nonagon Infinity that I would strongly recommend.
Bb is the fourth of F major so technically it ends on a IV chord which means this ends in a conclusive plagal cadence and not an inconclusive half cadence.
Are We Still Friends? (final song) is in F major, and should end on F, but it ends on Bb, the dominant (V) of Eb. Igor’s theme, (first song) is in Eb and begins on an Eb, completely the V to I cadence (or modulation depending on how you want to analyze it)
"IGOR is a perfect musical loop" *Dark Side of the Moon having the same heartbeat at the beginning and end and only having one or two times the songs don't flow between each other*
The album stops at the song The Great Gig in the Sky because it’s the last song on the first side of the album. It must stop because you physically have to flip the album to continue. (Nevermind the profile pic)
This even fits in the themes of call me if you get lost when he said that the girl that he fell in love with was just another book of lovers which plays in to the theme of Tyler running in circles and never being able to find the perfect relationship
I would never of picked that up I always know it ended on a imperfect cadence I just never realised it could be resolved with Igors theme Tyler’s musical prowess knows no bounds
Having this theory hit me like a ton of bricks, I cant believe I never thought about the cylical nature of it. Especially after going through something similar when the album itself dropped. I didn't learn my lesson after listening. Now I know 😑
Damn its so refreshing seeing such a relatable ground level almost essential to life experience/issue be expressed by such a large artist, and in such a creative way aswell that utilizes the medium of music so well
Bb to Eb is also a common key change, which makes it resolution so satisfying. Many composers change the key by the circle of 4ths which is what it is in this case.
