The little things in life that makes people happy. Looks good, and sturdy

Yea I’m constantly trying to make things easier on me. One thing I learned from working for other farmers, they probably wouldn’t have had to hire me if they just would make a few changes to make life easier. It’s amazing how some just enjoy making things difficult.

"and onto the next step" ha ha. looks nice! with the door off you could run across the shop and run up the steps! funny how little things can make life so nice!! the 4020 originally had a pad about 4" deep and 8" wide that you step on. nightmare. now with the big steps like you have its a dream!

Yea and I’m not really a small guy to begin with, so I won’t break my neck getting on and off.

I have those steps on my 1486. They're great! Much better than the originals for an old guy with arthritis.
@PAFarms

Haha well I’m fairly young I guess but I was tired of crawling up a ladder. They are great. Hoping to get a set for the other side.

I wish I had some down time. Those steps are awesome! I am glad we are getting rain, but it rains every two hours so it is hard to work outside. I will have to bring you a bunch of my misc. equipment to paint, because I hate painting!! lol

We got flooded here. 7” so far and it’s still raining

Those steps are pretty sweet. One of these days I will have to get a set for my 1086.

Yea I wasn’t sure about spending that much but I’m glad I did. The hand rail is only $40 so I guess I should get it too

I was amused by his video also. I may look into the steps, and the gas shock for the door. I also saw the 1086 with the correct ways door! There is a RU-vid video, search 1086. Tractor Looking good man.
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 6 лет назад
Yea I think the shock is about $80 but if I had cab doors I would get 1 for the left door

Looks nice I'd get the hand rail. I put a set on one of my deeres a few years ago and really like the hand rail.
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 6 лет назад
I just looked it up, it’s only $40 so not too bad, that’s only about 15 bushels of corn....haha.
@timerfarms113
@timerfarms113 6 лет назад
PA Farms lol yeah. The kit I bought came with hand rail don't think it was even an option without.You say you want less hay acers but with crop prices you may want more! Lol
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 6 лет назад
I would do more hay but just can’t get help unloading. My dad helps but he had a heart scare a few months ago so I don’t want to push him, I tried getting some kids to help and after one wagon they were sitting in the car with the AC on, I did about 3K small squares and handled them all 3-4 times. Corn costs a lot to put in but it’s sold every year no questions asked. I still have 1,000 bales from last year.

Very nice I can see putting them on are 986.

I think it was worth it. I don’t have the extending wagon hitch so I may be up and down 4-5 times a wagon change!

nice I like that like you said need to figure a way to keep the door from beating you to death and get those shifters out of the way when your getting in and out and mybe find a good way to see your draw bar when you're hooking up stuff.
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 6 лет назад
I am thinking the 4 post cab I have must be a little different. I don’t hit the shifters getting in, I can see the drawbar from the seat?
@yogibear6271
@yogibear6271 6 лет назад
Ih answer to the seeing the draw bar from the seat was to mount a mirror in the back window an point it down to the draw bar never worked for me. and the next series out rhe 88 series they moved the shifters to the right side of the seat out of the way of getting in and out. Thank you for your videos.
@PAFarms

Yea I do like the partial power shift on the 88 series,

I have a 1976 1486 ,I'm 73 yrs old don't have any trouble getting in and out of the cab. Also my doors have. Detents that hold in position until there closed. What is the problem?????
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 3 года назад
Well recently I had a guy tell me he just bought and installed a set for his dad after watching the video. His father just had both knees replaced and was having a hard time getting up and down. Now he loves the new steps and has an easier time. If for only that reason I would say I have no problem with the video.

Just saw your Instagram page of the rain. 🙁 it didn't look good of what I saw assuming that's the same ground you were planning to put radishes 🙁 just curious about your 986 did it have a fully enclosed cab at one time or was it like that when it left the factory?
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 6 лет назад
The 986 was just a front window. It was an open style but they offered soft cab doors

ol and let me add one more thing to my last comment the 86 series has to be the roughest riding tractor IH has ever made.
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 6 лет назад
Haha yea you’re right in the middle of the tractor. My fields are pretty smooth with no till, but I remember disking for the neighbor and had a pretty rough ride

I saw a 86 series that somebody changed the hinges around to make the door open suicide style. Still not that easy to get in and out, but better than 66 series.

Think 86 series steps are bad, try the single step that came on some of the 06 series, they’re really fun in the winter or in the dark.
@PAFarms
@PAFarms 6 лет назад
Yea I guess your right on that. Good way to hit your shin or miss all together

Just dont miss the first step, them serrated steps are shin killers, lol.
