I really like your videos, it was great to hear Joe in the back ground. Thank you, you confirmed i did my TA correctly with 2 seals. Keep you videos coming please! Nice to see a real mechanic using real tools in a real environment.
I really appreciate you pointing out that seal position on the PTO input shaft… had I not watched this video before I did the clutch and shaft on my 1086 I probably would have driven the new seal all the way in like the one I took out..as a thank you I bought a few parts from y’all’s store… great videos!! Keep them coming!!
I believe the engineers that design these machines should have to completely dismantle and reassemble them. You have a lot less situations like that bolt in behind the bracket.
I enjoyed your video vary much. I juat put a new clutch, an the hole 9 yard in. Its not properly adjusted didn't know how to do it rite. Now watching this video. Is vary helpful. Thank you.
Great vids, thx. I just bought an 885xl, runs great etc but no TA. The whole harness has been disconnected for some reason… Picking up tips from you on IH greatness 😊
We had a 1086 that dad bought new in '77, it was a love hate relationship with that tractor... Beautiful engine! Great fuel economy, awesome power but we had a helluva time keeping a TA in it. Gear grinding pos too... Local dealership replaced the torque twice in the span of about 2500 hours, this was in the late 80's and I'm sure they were using factory components, I with the aftermarket support would have been there like it is now.
It appears you have replaced a number of TA's in the past. I am in the process of replacing a manual TA in my IH 544. I noticed you and other order rebuilt TA's from Hy-Capacity which is where I purchased a re-manufactured TA Carrier for my manual TA which I rebuilt myself. Have you ever rebuilt a hydraulic TA or just swap it out for rebuilt units? Is this due to the machine work involved? Note: Consider investing in a few lifting eyes and get away from using a bolt through a chain link and also support that housing and get away from working on a suspended load.
You can make wonderful splitting stands out of crank handle semi trailor landing gear. Weld machinery movers on botton and a series of mounting plates you can even split bulldozers with 50k lb landing gear.
Eh...it seems like these TAs can take alot of abuse before they go out. On this particular one the clutch packs were just worn out, which I think means that it put out alot of work, regardless if somebody abused it.
Whereabouts in WI do you reside? I am in the Jackson area with - SURPRISE - a 1086 with non functioning TA. Have no desire or ability to do it, but your videos are indicators you do.
Absolutly. We are located in spring valley. Head over to redrunrite.com to get in touch with my dad, (his phone number should be up there). He will be able to give you some insights and options.
After looking at the video end twice, I am going to start with checking the adjustments. I was told it worked then quit right before I bought it. I need to adjust the clutch brake for sure. I learned a lot from your video.
