@fullmetalbg IWBTG is a platformer, Ikaruga is a 2D shooter. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Sure they might both be hard, IWBTG being harder because its main purpose is to be hard as fuck, but difficulty really isn't enough to compare the two. I'm just glad IWBTG was there to introduce me to all the awesome music it used, such as this song, So even if you don't like the game it's good for something.
I consider *Butsutekkai* among THE most epic boss themes of any video game ever made. It's utterly fantastic and gets you in the mood for an equally epic battle.
A very FINE shmup.A fine shmup indeed.I can appreciate every aspect of effort that was put into making this game and it will always hold a place in my heart as a gamer.
Beating first phase with White Polarity and 2nd with Black Polarity : Ikaruga Beating first phase with Black Polarity and 2nd with White Polarity : Danmaku Unlimited
I just want to say that upon reading this comment I have actually tried beating Eboshidori's first and second phases like this and I can only say that it is possible due to the deceptively small hitbox of the Ikaruga, just really hard for a first boss.
After thinking about it again, I'll have to give you that Ikaruga on hard requires a lot of memorization of patterns. Some things in Ikaruga are almost impossible if you don't know exactly what'll happen. In this category it is much harder than touhou at least, where you can beat most patterns with raw skill even if you don't know them by heart.
@@SIGNOR-G Touhou is more of a puzzle shooter than high-speed / high-reflex shooters like Cave Shooters. The stages usually consist of about 2 to 4 minutes of dealing with streams of enemies that either directly shoot at you or shoot indirectly at you, which means you end up either bullet streaming or micro-dodging through most of the stages. Bosses are very obvious in which the character you play as and the boss have a short chat before fighting actually happens. Bosses have two phases: Non-Spell Patterns, which then lead into Spell Card Patterns. Once you take down that spell card pattern's lifebar, the next non-spell pattern / spell card pattern takes over. The further in you get, the more spell cards bosses will have, with a total of 6 bosses in the main game, followed by an Extra Mode with an Extra Stage and Boss. Stages and Bosses require some minimal memorization of their patterns in order to actually beat the game proper, otherwise you'll never unlock Extra Mode as you need to 1CC the game on at least Normal or Higher to unlock Extra Mode. Then some of the games, such as Touhou 8 Imperishable Night, have some really complex unlock gimmicks that will take you a long time to get everything properly unlocked. For the most part, once you know what you're doing with a particular game, it'll take maybe between 30 to 45 minutes to complete the full main part of a game for one specific character, and then Extra Mode takes about 15 to 20 minutes to clear. Touhou's main selling point for most people is usually the music. There's always at least one really good song per game, and some games the entire soundtrack can be gold (I find nearly all of the 4th game's soundtrack to be amazing, Lotus Land Story btw).
An absolutely tough-as-nails shoot-em-up well known for its fantastic soundtrack, interesting duality mechanic, and of course, how FRIGGIN' HARD it is.
Not as hard as most shoot em ups unless you crank up the difficulty. Game is very generous with respawns. Nothing compared to R-Type or Gradius were dying once makes you restart the level with no power ups.
Someone at Valve REALLY loves Ikaruga. I just recently found out they added a minigame to Dota 2 that pays homage to it. And back in 2015, I remember that they gave you a Steam badge for visiting Ikaruga's store page called Red Herring lmao.
@fullmetalbg i saw it before X) IWBTG is just a game that wants you to die in any way but Ikaruga wants your brain and everything is very clear for you to know what to do but only need fast reflex and enough mental strength ^^
it's not easy X) it's one of the hardest yet X) try it starting from normal mode and see how frustrating it get's until you try hard mode which will kick the player's back hard specially in stage 2 - 3 & 4 XP
XD well i only love the original hard hard games like this ikaruga and other games that i've mentioned in my channel ^_^ anyway thank you very much for this info that should help others to get that game ^_^
You can download I Wanna Be The Guy at the I Wanna Be The Guy Website, I forgot the name of the website... 68mbs of Fun and craziness, it's a really hard platform game... Mecha Birdo is a b****!
shmup is a short form of ( shoot them up ) which is games like Gradius - Reflex - Salamander - Ikaruga - Raycrises - Thunder force some sort of these ^_^
@aliultimate009 oh, hehe, then in that case, no its not... its a 2D platformer but not like any others... its... hard... if you like challenges... well... hehe.. its right up your ally. (Although I think it does turn into a gradius style shooter at a small point in the game...)
No, it's possible. As an instrument player, I know techniques to play an instrument quickly. The techniques are hard to explain, so you can look it up.
Shor Still, Judging by the quality of the instruments, the soundtrack is likely conducted with MIDI (or synthesized) instruments. An orchestrated version of the OST would be legendary, though.
well sorry to tell that i'm not into it ^_^ only the mentioned games in my channel will takes my interest ^_^ but anyway thanks for the info about it ^O^
@aliultimate009 What does it look like? Well... frustratingly fun death... Try watching an LP of either cloud or ultrajman. Dont watch an LP of anybody else. Ultrajman and cloud were the original LPers of that game. Its rediculously hard but so addictingly fun.
Ikaruga, however, is a very easy shoot'em up, at least when compared to pretty much any other bullet hell shooter, especially CAVE games, and while IWBTG is indeed full of learning where the traps are it also has many screens and bosses that are just plain difficult and require skill. Saber698 is right, it's apples and oranges.
Stop talking about IWBTG. It's a game that is poorly designed so it involves bad difficulty. But it's free so let's stop complaining. Let's talk about how awesome (I used that rarely) this music is.
Have you played a cave game? Even most touhou games are harder than ikaruga on the higher difficulties and touhou games aren't very hard bullet hell games either.
