Throughout History inside of Asia, there were a number of feared execution methods used to condemn prisoners. One of the most feared was Ikido, in which two executioners armed with swords simultaneously condemned a victim who was lying down in a pile of mud. Shockingly this was even done to ensure that sacred swords were sharp enough.

Hi, what you call “eye”kido should be pronounced I, as in “dip”kido. “Eye”kido, as in aikido is a martial art in its own right and has nothing to do with execution.

I'm not sure that it could be described as "one of the most brutal in history" forms of execution. I doubt it would make the top 20.

As a last revenge, the prisoners would sometimes swallow stones in order to ruin the sword being tested.

im pretty sure it's pronounced iki-do as in icky do, not Eye Ki do, for Aikido.

Often times I wonder how Japan created such a society of everyone strictly following the rules. Then I remember that they put people to death this way and it makes more sense.

Japanese didn’t invent cruel punishments, but kept at it with great relish - I’m referring to Nanking, 1937 (no apology yet received)- long after the rest of the civilised world had realised it was barbaric and abandoned it.
