Thanks for the video. I feel like you used WAY TOO MUCH. I say that because I just got it, and I only using like 4-5 drops and it covered my entire face and WOW, Wow, wow. Within an hour my face looked incredible. And the SPF, is enough-at least for me--and I'm a red head. I was out in the sun all day and came back looking better than when I put it on in the morning. I'm super sold on this product. Thanks for the review.
I use this with great success! I can use concealer on top if needed. For extra SPF I use Super Goop glow oil as a spritz. If I did want to use extra, I would add it at the beginning and let it completely soak in. It did take me quite some time to warm up to it. I like a glowy look though. I also finish it off with a setting spray and it cuts some of the the glow and any transfer. Just for those who maybe want to give it another go.
I have mature skin, I’m 56 and I love it but it took me a couple of tries to get it right because like you, I wanted to use moisturizer or oil underneath. But truly, the key is to use it on bare clean skin or with their serum primer. Now I love it. Also I don’t use as much as you did and only add a little more to areas I need more coverage.
I guess my biggest issue is wanting to wear as a sunscreen. And in order to get the protection, you'd have to put on a ton. I guess I should have experimented more with a separate sunscreen. Now I'm kind of wishing I hadn't given it away 😣
I Love this Ilia serum because event though I reapply several times through the day I feel that it makes me look younger which is no small feat at 47 years old. But i find the wear time on everything sucks. Like Born this Way and also It cosmetics Your skin but better - everyone on utube claims the wear time is stellar. I find it makes me look old and weathered by 3 hours or less. Ilia does not!
I've heard that from SO many people! Maybe it depends on what you're using it for. I wanted it to replace my SPF and I'd have to use a lot of product in order to get the proper coverage. Maybe I should retry as a makeup replacement 🤔
@@SkinObsessedMary I have the same battle in my mind regarding spf ☺️. If I’m going to be outdoors a lot, I’ll put an spf on underneath, let it soak in, and then apply the ilia and a little of their setting powder on top-and it’s beautiful!
Thanks for doing this review. I saw so many articles raving about this product and I was really tempted to give it a try. But after going to their website, I could see that all of the models looked very shiny and "dewy." Even though I have mature skin, my skin still gets oily (especially in the t-zone) and tends to look shiny all day. Instead, I tried the True Skin Serum Foundation but it did not work on my skin at all. It looked really greasy and just sat on the surface of my skin. After a few hours, it was just a splotchy mess.
This is an amazing product. It makes my skin look and feel fantastic. It's unfortunate that people listen to influencers and don't give amazing products a try.
You're dead right! Everyone's experience is so individual and should be made by themselves. Everyone says I've used it wrong and perhaps they're right! I bought this as tinted sunscreen so that means I had to use a ton in order to get adequate sun protection. But apparently it's beautiful as a tinted serum and I'm now wishing I'd kept it to try it out. I may just buy it again to give it another try!
Oh how I jump on tinted serum reviews!! But oh 😟, see from the comments it didn’t pass the Mary bar. I’m watching to see why …. Hmmm Wonder why people love it so much?? You are so super cute today, cute hair, cute makeup. See you next time ☀️✨☀️💛✨!!
@@SkinObsessedMary I would think you are deeper and warmer :) I use this when I want to create a glowy look, but I also powder and take Rouge after it. So I really like it, but for sure you must be a big fan of this dewy thing. For me it works better when I use the beautyblender.
i have mixed feelings about this one. i just started using it around a week ago and am sticking to it for now and trying to get it to work for me. Its the only thing that barely creases on me and i badly wanted a foundation that is clean and not full of all the nasty chemicals/carcinogens like the ones ive always used! the coverage is not good and my face looks SO shiny which i don't like, i like a super matte finish and dont like dewy. the color also makes me look a little sickly and ive been experimenting with different powders to set it now to cut back on the oily shiny look. im 33 and have some fine lines on my forehead now as well as laugh lines which drive me insane. this is the foundation that creases and settles in fine lines the least compared to everything else. i also love that it doesnt feel heavy and cakey like my usual foundation, it doesnt feel like anything is on my face! god i wish it gave more coverage and wasnt as shiny. :(
Yes, this is definitely not for oily skin, in my opinion, or if you like a matte finish. Tons of people came back to tell me I was using too much and shearer is much better, however I wanted it for sun protection as opposed to makeup. But I suppose it's billed as a serum tint, so meant to be sheer...
I have been so tempted to try this many times but haven't because of the oil slick scenario. I have mature drying skin and like dewy but not oily. I like a one and done product but this seems like too much work to get it right...skipping for sure. I love Trinnys product as well.
@@SkinObsessedMary I really haven't found a skin tint yet! For spf I love Elta MD Elements tinted spf 44; Elta MD tinted restore and Cerave tinted. If I need a bit more coverage I add Maybelline Dream BB fresh beauty balm which is a surprise drugstore winner. I also love BareMinerals Complexion Rescue. I have been reading a lot about Mychelle Tinted Sun Shield Liquid SPF but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet...
@@SkinObsessedMary Oops almost forgot my new favorite Colorescience Face Shield Flex spf..love it!! Starts out white and morphs into color w nice coverage
@@thedeansfry6812 I’m totally with you on Elta MD. I use them daily for spf too. Haven’t tried Maybelline so that’s interesting 🤔. And Mychelle has been on my radar too. Maybe I’ll pick that one up next. Thank you!
I tried this and did not like it. I just couldn’t get it to work on my skin. I used it with another sunscreen and without anything else. Looked terrible !
hahah EVERYONE has said that. So clearly my intended use is not what it does the best. I wanted a tinted sunscreen but you have to use TONS in order to get the right coverage. Now, I know I should just be using as a tinted serum (over my other SPF). And now I'm wishing I hadn't gotten rid of it. Maybe I'll buy again 🤔
