I was born in Illinois but now live in Texas. My grandparents were part of the harness racing back in the early 70s, growing up I can remember visiting the stables. Great memories!.. thanks for the fair videos,always informative!

The horse carriage that you saw was Rica replica of Abraham Lincoln's last ride. It was used in the reenactment. The carriage is put away and brought out at certain functions. It is hidden, so no one knows where it is at any time, so no damage can occur to it.

As someone who is afraid to leave the house 99% of the time, I want to thank you for allowing me to see things I currently can't. Maybe, one of these days, I'll be able to afford to travel as well as not be afraid to go outside. Then I can see cool stuff that you've seen! Meow Wolf is definitely one of those things. 💜 You give me motivation. You just go places and see the things you want and that interest you. I want to be that way too! Glad to see you at my home state fair. However, Illinois actually has two state fairs: the one in Springfield and one in DuQuion State Fair. We have a messy history. It opens next week

@@colinchapman9411 That is true, the DuQuoin State Fair is not called the Illinois State Fair, but it's essentially a second state fair-it's operated by the state under the Department of Agriculture

I love the mini Route 66! I actually live on Rte. 66 in IL so it's always fun to see it represented. That Frankenmuffler Man is at Haunted Trails - a fun arcade with go-karts, mini golf, games, etc. I was just there a couple weeks ago. Jacob! It looks like you've lost some weight, looking good! :)

As a kid, that talking milk carton was terrifying. It hasn’t gotten any better. 😂 The hearse is a reproduction of the one that carried President Lincoln’s body. It is accurate down to the very tiniest of detail. When they built it they did a re-enactment through downtown of the procession.

Hey, I love the IL State Fair! Used to live near there as a kid. The Springfield Mile is one of only two 1-mile dirt ovals left in the world used for auto racing. The other one is at the other Illinois State Fairgrounds in DuQuoin. While this one is flat, I believe DuQuoin is a bit wider and has a slight banking to it. And to your point about vaccines, there was a form of smallpox vaccine that existed during the civil war. Both the Union and Confederate armies required all of their soldiers to be vaccinated.

You missed the Smokey Bear in conservation area. He talks. You missed one good things. (Fishing clinics, canoe rides, chainsaw competition, butterfly tagging). The next time you come to the State Fair I will give you a tour. You can see the Du Quoin State Fair which starts August 25th and runs through September 4th.

I visited a spot of that infamous route while i was in Chicago earlier this year with my mom while on a business vacation, every state fair you've been to looks unique and fun! I guess I grew up in the late '80s early '90s. Well then again I was born in 91 but my grandmother she had one of those old dial phones that you have to crank every time pick a number to dial man. I miss those phones. It was interesting. I still want to take one apart and just studying the mechanics

1:48 Vaccines were around for smallpox when Abe Lincoln was alive, but there is no record for vaccinations available for early presidents. Dr Edward Jenner invented the smallpox vaccine in the 1790s, although this was new technology then for medicine and vaccinations were not common until the 20th century.

Jacob! So glad you finally got to experience the IL State Fair!! I hope you enjoyed yourself!! I worked it for years. Glad you found the Rt 66 and Fair Museum, Big Lincoln as I suggested. Did you get to see the Main Gate from the Outside? Best Gate Ever! They did have a great Horse Show in Coliseum that day. Been fun to see you Milk the Cow lol! Safe Journey!!

Gotta say that milk carton is good old fashioned nightmare fuel! The talking police car was cute, the ambulance company I used to work for had a similar talking ambulance that would go to schools. The Michigan State Fair used to have a talking robot made of car parts in the Ford pavilion, but I don't know if they moved it to Novi.
